As of right now it'll be the date listed in the new poll and the same location as last year.

I'm really hoping it is... I took off this weekend, haha. Also wondering if it's going to be one day like last time or the entire weekend, and what times the room will be open.

I talked to Hoff who didn't seem to know what was going on. I guess another GHer was supposed to scout a spot but at this point, I don't think it's happening for a while. Without that organizer replying here and no actual booked date, I wouldn't hold your breath. Until Hoff or the organizer replies with a booking for a venue, it's not official. As far as I know, it's not happening this weekend. And even if it was, giving people less than 5 days of notice to travel sucks. At best, it would become a Chicago meetup.

After the back and forth about when the event was happening Keycon has turned into a small meetup at my house. Everyone who said yes to the current poll was sent a PM with more info.

If we use the same venue as last year it'll be $250-$750 depending on the size room we want but based on the poll results it doesn't seem like we need a room. If a later weekend works for more people Keycon could be rescheduled but the early poll didn't show much promise for another date.

Didn't even know this occurred.  Anyways, I think the keyboard culture has become big enough to spread into regional cultures with more regular meetups, rather than the necessity of a big national meetup to garner interest.  I consider that a good thing, as enthusiasts can meet with other enthusiasts locally and regularly.

Or maybe we have become more immersed in Internet culture rather than actually interacting with real people.

You're right, local regular meetups is the better way of doing it. That being said I thing a huge national meetup would be awesome.

It would be awesome.  It would have to be planned well and far in advance.  And in a central location in the country, but not Chicago, because that has been done before and keyboardists seems a bit tired of it.  Texas, probably Dallas or Houston, because those places two have layover airports (more so Dallas), that people from the middle of the country, the coasts, and the south can easily access.

Although the amount of local enthusiants helps garner support for a national meetup, and I am not quite sure how Texas does in this area.

Florida also would be fun, because Disney World, waterparks, beaches, and weather (When there isn't a hurricane).

6 people? What has been the biggest keycon in the past? Surely there is usually more people and this year has just been bad timing? There are usually more people at small local keyboard meetups

This years was initially planning for it looked like 40-50 like last year, but with the delay out of summer and last minute plans it shrank.  This one just takes the cake of the bad timings.  Still was a great time.

Good idea, we need to start planning now or else it'll turn into the "keycon" that was held at my house last year.

I for one would love to see another Asheville, NC meet this spring.

That's close enough for me to attend so +1

+1  Would love to make another trip out for this.  Spring or summer.  Preferably after April 15 so Wyfster can come with.  :)

(Also in favor of a large meetup in CA if that happens ;) )

Tax day!

Correctomundo, April 17th is a Monday but a holiday so tax deadline is April 18th this year.
