Microsoft Surface Touch keyboard....can only get about 30wpm but it's nearly weightless.

Honestly, that's one thing I really love about my Surface...can deal with a crappy keyboard experience when I want to go ultra light travelling, but can plug in my Poker when I want to get down to business.
I'm back.

Swype on the galaxy S5 :(

just from curiosity you travel a lot? cause you got pretty cool stuff in reviews project keyboards so I cannot think any other reason why to punish yourself with that.

Yes I travel a lot for pleasure and I often don't carry my laptop with me; just my phone.

SwiftKey > Swype!

I'll have to give it a try. Swype isn't my favorite and the default keyboard on the S5 is so so.

Does linux have a solid touch screen lib? I'm not sure, but having that setup with linux would be a pretty solid option for me.

I have no idea about touch lib for Linux.

Though it's been a very long time since my days of compiling kernels and having my Linux nerd hat on, I think it's not really designed for touch anyway. I guess someone could make a touch centered WM, but most of the ones I knew had too much hovering, small buttons, etc.

Ubuntu has a version of their desktop OS for android. Not sure of all the details there, but there may be some touch-friendly libraries rolled in there. Don't know how compatible they would be, but it's worth a quick look at least.

I got a friend for my Model M today, a shiny SSK. Pics when I feel like it :P

Hildon or Enlightenment are fine for ultraportables/MIDs, but expect some rough edges and patching apps. Pen-enabled Tablet PCs are similar, maybe a bit better, although it requires a lot of GUI tuning too (software keyboard, custom widget themes, gestures, remapping).

Unity sucks.

cross post from post your phantom

currently using a standard layout phantom with stock clears, the clears are from an older board and feel different in a better way but that could also be a combination of the thick POM caps and other things etc.

I'm slowly losing my dependence on the numberpad  :o

I've been using this Microsoft Ergonomic 4000 at work for a few weeks now since I don't really have a full size with linear or Clear switches. The new office is quiet enough where I can't rock Blues anymore. I'm pretty sick of rubber domes.

I highly highly recommend the Topre Type Heaven.  It has won the award of longest owned board in my inventory.

I'll never buy a Topre board. They hurt my hands when I bottom out and I don't want to change my typing style. I'm building a Leeku 1800 or 3000 so I'll have a board I can use soon.

My experience mirrors yours but only with the Realforce.  After extended period of time the 87U/104U caused a severe buzzing sensation in my joints that didn't feel very good.  However, the Type Heaven and 660C feel heavenly in comparison (IMHO of course..)

That's why I always joke that I hope the Novatouch is made in China and not Japan :D

A phantom was a pcb (and build components I think) group buy. In short it is a custom TKL keyboard.

It's nothing fancy compared to everyone else's in here, but it's the only mech I've got and I built it myself so I'm proud of it.  :)

Converted to USB from an old Chicony board and housed in a poorly crafted wooden case  :D. I'm dying to get a nice new set of keycaps on here, I'm really looking for a nice DSA set.

I finally remembered to bring a mechanical keyboard into my new office. Test driving the Cherry MX 3.0 Board for an upcoming review. I'm not the biggest fan of Reds and they still feel *much* better than the rubberdomes in my Microsoft Ergonomic 4000. I love that board for its shape but....I guess I can't really use any rubberdomes besides the DT35 and IBM RT now.

It's a 15×8 PS/2 Access-IS keypad with two programmable layers. It has plate-mounted Cherry MX Black switches and I've put thick Cherry POM (black) and PBT (hellgrau) keycaps on them. Feels amazing.

The layout is inspired by TypeMatrix 2030 that I use for travelling. The difference is that I've configured it to three-column hand separation and placed the missing keys like brackets on the extra layer. The two bottom rows are full of modifiers and navigation/whitespace keys; the keycaps are of different profiles, thus I can press mods on one row without accidentaly pressing the key above/under it as well. I use my palms to press keys in the corners, pinkies to press keys above them and thumbs to press keys... under thumbs.

I'm using this as my primary keyboard, until I rebuild my ErgoDox.

At this very moment I am using they built in keyboard on my old macbook air. Though normally I use my Filco TKL I've had for a few years now. Still in love with the cherry browns. Works great for both gaming and typing.

At work I have a Ducky TKL G2Pro (I think it's called at least) Special Mix, it has both browns and clears. Sweet combo actually.
