I'm sorry for the late reply will search for taobao

Good luck!  :thumb:

I'm still using my custom Alps board, haha. I've taken to the affectionate title of "Hammer Alps" for it. Linear greens are so sick. Eventually, when the SKCM blues from a trade I made come in (my amber alps for their blues), I'll be able to use the other PCB and enjoy some lovely clickiness. :D
Bro i want to be just like you. I think you already tried all of alps skcm type

Filco Ninja, MX brown.
I like it very much, but I'm considering getting a Topre KB as well, haven't tried those switches yet.

I've gotten out the old Chicony KB-5181 with Monterey Blues. I threw out the case for it so I'm just using it without one.

I plan on building a custom case for this board out of wood with antler inlays. Thought it would be a bit different.

My FAME TH-5539 in moody lighting

Ahh, how I've missed that familiar blue Alps click in a vintage board. <3

I can't wait for it's younger brother, the APC TH-5539 (with Alps SKCM White switches), to get here to compare as well as use its awesome Hebrew alt legend doubleshots. :D

I think Matt debunked the notion that a keyboard should be super expensive to be a good one, he put in a package a metallic case, along with a plate and a programmable pcb under $110, if you want to source the rest of the components, there is no competition for that.

I'm typing on an old APC board with vintage blacks. It has a plastic plate that I thought would be annoying, but actually makes this amazingly soothing clacking sound. These blacks are making me want to build my Jane CE linear rather than with zealios.

LINEAR ZEALIOS

I have some, but if I can find some vintage MX white switches with translucent stems, I'm gonna be swappin' sum stems.

Idk man, still don't think you can really beat vintage blacks in the linear department. I have a wyse that I think I'll be harvesting.

Work: HHKB Pro 2
Home: CM Storm QFR (Blues)

I use the QFR at home so my wife can use it. The HHKB has blanks. She can touch type, but still doesn't like to use a blank keyboard. I enjoy using the QFR for nostalgia purposes too; it was my first board three years ago and has held up remarkably well. I'll probably need to replace the top part of the case fairly soon though.

I was about to buy one of Hasu's controller but heard the battery life was ****e

72 hours on the other hand sounds very reasonable though
Does the battery add much weight to the board?

Yeah give it a shot, wireless life is great haha.

Not much weight, it is a tiny battery (51x52x8mm).
I should rephrase, instead of 72 hours, it lasts about 3 days (say working hours for instance) and turned off while sleeping haha.

Not in particular, wanted to try different switches and have a board that could be used in a work-space environment without pissing anyone off. Even though I'm in college and have a few years before I get a job haha. I've been trying to have all different switches in my boards, an RS96 with 62g Vintage Blues, Orion v2 with 62g Tactile Zealios, Jane with Vintage/Old Browns, and planning on Jane CE with 62g Vintage Clears or maybe Ergo Clears.

Yeah haha, luckily I've enjoyed all the switches I've put on my boards otherwise it would be a pain to desolder. Something about my 62g Vintage Blues makes me keep wanting to come back to them, they just have the perfect pitch and bump to it. Zealios with a plastic plate is quite a unique option, it makes the switches very quiet but the tactility of it is amazing. I then have stock Clear and Blue Pok3rs that I never touch, planning on getting rid of them when ever I get some free time.

Man, I really really want some vintage MX white switches so I can transfer their stems in my Zealios for my next Octagon build. I'm definitely going to use holtite sockets for that build though, so I can swap switches if I end up not liking them as much as I think I will.

As someone who's used vintage ergo clears on a PCB before, I can only imagine a plastic plate being somewhat similar, and the feel is quite nice.  :thumb:

I've been wanting to try some holtite sockets one of these times. I don't know how often I'd be swapping out the switches though because doing a full board would be a pain. I definitely want to lube the vintage clears if I can get my hands on some, filphil sent me a few different switches and the lubed clear felt the best to me.

Haha, well I decided to use them, at first, out of hype that formed around the Smart 68, but I do like the convenience, especially for boards that might not use plate designs that allow for switch top opening. I definitely want to use them in the Octagon as I'm really unsure where I want to go with it. At first I was thinking vintage clears, then linear zealios (I have vintage blacks in my current Octagon), and then finally vintage mx white.

I definitely want a switch with a translucent slider because I'd love to see how the RGB glow from the PCB illuminates up through the switch (I bet it won't be dramatic at all), but eh. I want to go for vintage MX white because it's the MX type I have least experience with. I do have a set of MX greens, but that won't fit here. :P

Eh, well... With hotswapping, at least you have the assurance in knowing that you CAN swap it whenever you'd like. Compared to having to desolder an entire keyboard, simply pulling them out would be a lot less time consuming or frustrating. :P

FC660C. Figured I would try Topre one more time, since I sold my HHKB.
I thought the steel plate mounting might be different. I missed the satisfaction of the thock. But alas I really just don't like Topre that much. Without doubt the most satisfying switch I've tried, but when it comes to long typing sessions, theres just something lacking.

Still enjoy the board tho.

I put my KBParadise V60MTS-Q away for a bit and brought out my Apple Standard M0116 for a while and it's so satisfying to type on. The Quiet Clicks are great, but they feel clunky compared to SKCM Orange Alps. I'm going to be swapping the switches from the Apple to the V60 once I get my soldering iron. I really want to grab another V60 and swap in another set of Alps.

I've yet to try any other variants, but I'd love to try SKCL Greens, SKCM Browns, and SKCM Blues. I'm not a huge fan of clicky switches, but I'd love to give the Blues a shot.

Back on a Model M again since I'm travelling.  I thought about taking the g710 on the road, but then decided against it.  I needed familiarity.

A Unicomp JIS layout Model M with the ever-elusive 1.75u non-stepped right shift.

Confused as to why we can't order these shifts from Unicomp without buying one of these boards...

My guess is that they only have enough for the full sets they've produced.  Like how you can't get a white space bar anymore in large print unless you get an entire keyboard, and I think even those now come with a non-white one.

Back to using my ducky mini YOTH while I am waiting for other boards to come in. I really do not like unclipped cherry stabs  :(

A friend of mine bought it for me for helping him move a couple of years ago, before I rediscovered buckling springs. I like to get it out and use it every now and then. It's like taking a bite of ginger to clear your palate between sushi courses.

It's also fun wondering if some of the more rarified boards being shown here, as impressive as they are, are really worth, like, 10 times as much dough.  :?)

I straight up eat the ginger with everything, maybe BS could be my jam.
