Leopold 660M with Cherry Reds!

Just got it about an hour ago and I'm LOVING it! It feels, sounds, and looks SO much better than the Magicforce 68 with Kaihl reds I was using. It's also more comfortable than the Filco MiniLa I tried.

It's ALWAYS the palm rest.  :blank: Where's the keyboard? I dunno, all I see is a palm rest! :P

It was made by Den from Battlestation10. He's a swell guy and did this one for me on the house, much to my surprise. It's an amazing and durable wrist rest and it goes really well with the board.

Ergodox and Ducky Shine 3...
Have to use both, because I dont know how to use ergodox with blank keys.
I ordered 80 keys ergodox and now I have to programe it, to get the layout I want. So lots of work wainting for me.

I have to say I really like the color scheme on the Skidata. The whole thing is such a classic. I can tell immediately without even knowing much about the history. It reminds me of my childhood a bit and the 80's Galactatron era. I want to eventually get those orange/dark grey caps and a blue top case like the KUL has. I think it would look pretty sweet.

A Chicony KB-5181 with Monterey Blue Alps.

Great little keyboard, the creaky case is no fun though. Definitely one of the worst cases around.

Sounds good.

I saw a couple of other people posting about the Alps switches just now and I watched a video review of them which looked pretty compelling. I think I would like to try something like that as a contrast to the MX browns. I really need those for comfort, but I wouldn't mind some stiff, clicky switches for an enthusiast rush from time to time.

Ducky Shine 5 !

Welcome to Geekhack!

Which Ducky is that?

Shine 5:) Whit mx black

Somehow it just looks Right!

If I knew what I was doing when I bought my first Ducky, it would have had MX blacks.  And blue LEDs, as that was one of the very few other options available back then.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Part of an ongoing initiative to teach someone very close to me how to solder, we knuckled down over the easter break and finished up...

A Winkeyless mini EX X2 /w gateron clears, stickered, swapped springs /w 62g (should've gone heavier oops), forgot to lube. A beautiful trainwreck of a first project sporting the GMK Valentine set (featuring mismatched right shift).

I still need to slap leds in, otherwise it's pretty comfy. I'll post photos once it's properly finished  :thumb:

Yes. It's all stock except for the caps and the braided micro-USB cable. I like the design but it would be nicer if it were a black alloy. :) What I really like about the case is it's very ergonomic, in that it's easy to pick up and hold and/or move around. It's a solid and weighty board with no flex, but it's still relatively easy to hold in one hand and type with the other. I want to say it has a "sporty" feel to it. Basic, but solid and well performing.

Dead split between my HHKB Pro 2 and my RF 87U 55G

Prefer the layout of my RF since i am more accustomed to it...and the 55G switches have a bit more snap to them.

Prefer the HHKB as my hands move around a lot less which is more comfortable long term...and while i prefer the feel and sound of 55g switches the 45G switches are more comfortable long term use.   The layout is very odd to get used to though to put it mildly.

So at moment switching them out almost Bi-Daily

Tough call, I'd call it a draw.. I have HHKB at the office and RealForce at home.

My Alps Orion v2 and Alps Lightpad, aww yeah. The dynamic duo is nearly complete. Using a substitute space bar until the black one is ready and the Lightpad has no plate atm, just put Alps on the PCB (holtite sockets, not soldered). Dyed AT101 caps, mainly. :P

The Lightpad uses tinted polycarbonate inserts I hand made with a dremel, but the Orion v2 has its stock acrylic inserts, but I decided to dye them today, or tint them really, to match the Lightpad. They were the only parts that looked off on the board, imo. Too white, but now they're tinted. :D

Find a mech with bluetooth, ? ? ? ? ? ? profit!

Also, yes, Android software keyboards are leaps and bounds better with swiping support etc, etc.

With the lightning USB camera adapter certain low power mechs will work, the pok3r non backlit model for example works perfectly fine with my iPad mini.  YMMV greatly depending on the keyboard used.

I can also say the HHKB Pro 2 does not work due to the usb hub's power needs

Never had a single backlit board work at all

that's in fantastic shape!  Hope the plate looks as good as the rest!  Very nice!

Thanks Alienman! I cleaned it up quite a bit, just got it all back together. The plate does have some minor corrosion areas on the surface but overall it's in excellent shape, even got the original box =).

Been typing on the Jane R1 for a few days, built with tactile switches, it's a very nice board. Changing it up a little bit though and using an old favorite for few weeks: LZ-SE, 55g stickered and lubed vintage blacks.

Finally put the painted (krylon fusion) space bar onto my Orion v2 after patiently waiting 6/7 days for the paint to fully bond to the plastic. It's not going to be all that abused, so I figured why not. Glad I got it on right on the first try.

Also put little rubber landing pads down for the space bar as that's how I like it on my vintage Alps boards. It's so much better that way:

This is how it looked before with the temp spacebar.

I'm so glad to have it all finally done up and with the copper weight too!

Last thing I need to do is sleeve a custom cable for this one. :)

Been typing on the Jane R1 for a few days, built with tactile switches, it's a very nice board. Changing it up a little bit though and using an old favorite for few weeks: LZ-SE, 55g stickered and lubed vintage blacks.
