so, are the switches hotswappable on that board?  hows the side button is it clicky at all and do you actually use it often ?

Yup, the switches are hot-swappable on this one. The side button feels pretty good. It's got a nice sharp click to it, and it feels great. I use it a lot for F keys and playing flash games (since my arrows are bound to WASD on the function layer). I'd also use it a lot more for things like LED control, media controls, etc, but I don't actually know how to program the board or where to find instructions for it, as it's a pretty obscure piece of hardware.

Now I'm curious. Any of the switches pop out while you change the keycaps? :)

Edit - Oh man, I found the video demonstration of someone removing a recap. That is awesome

It's actually surprisingly solid. I've got a video out there somewhere where I struggle to pull the right Shift switch out of the board for a couple of seconds. Partly because of the tools I was using, but mostly because they just hold really well. I've only had one switch accidentally pull on me, and the switch was old an worn at that point, so it wasn't properly grabbing the plate anyway.

Now it shall be the Ducky/Topre 30g that just arrived. It types as I hoped it would and the silence is golden.

My 103U and 87U-Silent may find use elsewhere... but this is going to be my main until such time as it gives out on me, as I won't give up on it.

Leopold FC660M - MX Reds (Daily Driver)
QFR TKL - MX Blues

These are my first boards and I just bought them in the past week. The QFR just sort of happened, planning on painting or possible giving it to a friend.

My main is a Rosewill Rk-9000 Cherry MX Blues and secondary is a Rantopad MXX with Gateron Blues, my other boards are collecting dusts  ^-^

now researching into Topre as the temptation form the Land of Cup Rubber is very attractive.

Unfortunately, I'm using my mbp built-in keyboard more and more as I'm more on the road. #cry

I can never use laptop keyboards once I tried mechanical, heck, now cant even type properly on rubberdomes... the force required is too much to actuate a key  :(

it is time for you to go mechanical and ditch those built-in keyboards  ;D

but wouldn't putting the HHKB or any other 60% board on top of the laptop makes typing kind of... "suffocating"?
Because you are being so close to the laptop screen and the keyboard might cover your part of your screen (specifically the bottom part) when you type?

For me, I put my TKL board INFRONT of the laptop. This works best for me  :D

It's the little things in life :). This is fantastic for your mouse and keyboard wire, toward the edge of your desk. I am also using them for my tablet + cell charger, allowing the cables to stay put even while I adjust my standing desk to the seated position.

The rk-9000 actually is a pretty decent board, I used mine for the past 3 years or so with no issues with the USB port. Linear alps are making me think about selling it since I never use it anymore.

This thing at work. It's pretty much perfect. Super heavy coupled with nice feet ensures it doesn't even budge from the spot even the slightest unless if you lift it up. TKL size with numpad (my works involves lots of punching in numbers). Uses Cherry MX Brown switches, personal favorite after trying out kailh brown, gateron brown, cherry blue, ootemu brown and blue. The keycaps on the main part has been replaced with low profile mxboard 3.0 ones. Spacebar is flipped so my thumb can rest against the flat side rather than the edge.

Quite the collection... I see that you switched to winkeyless on the red TKL, by leaving the switches bare. Giving it that custom look.

I kid, I kid. You definitely have your choices on what to use there.

i've now used them enough that they're bearable. still far from preferable, slightly enjoyable.  zzz

Just got a Wyse WY60 to work with Soarer's Converter. Vintage blacks and doubleshots, these old Wyse keyboards are really nice and solid. I need to take it apart and clean it again, though, it smells of old ashtray and spoiled yogurt.
