Rosewill RK9000v2 mx brown - gaming rig
vorted pok3r - backpack for use with my laptop when im gone for work. Thinking about busting out the old pok3r for the desktop again. Only reason I bought the rosewill is because i needed the arrow pad for an old game i wanted to play again and it was on sale on newegg.

Swapped in Noppoo TANK simply because it's the least broken of all my keyboards.

A whole collection and none of them work well enough not to annoy me. This hobby pisses me off sometimes. :(

Mechanical keyboards are more complex; hence more opportunities for things to go wrong.

You don't hear too many complaints from folks stroking their Hakko.

Finally managed to get a job that: a) pays me well enough, and b) sees me doing enough writing, to justify dropping a whole wad of cash on an HHKB2. Would possibly have preferred a white one but a local collector was selling this for a very reasonable price (in comparison to importing a white one myself), so I decided that I could live with the black.

It's good. Liking it more and more each day.

I'm not finding it as unusual as I expected it to be, and I seem to be getting along with it fine, but on the rare occasion I accidentally press ` everything just goes out the window for a few seconds while I try and re-orient myself (without stopping and looking down at the board, that is).

Really nice board though, and the backspace/delete position is starting to slowly make a lot of sense.

Yeah, you get used to the layout pretty quickly. It's modeled after the Sun keyboards from 35 years ago...lot's of people think it's a "new" layout.

I've been running with a swapped control and caps lock for the couple of years so I have absolutely zero issues with having control there on the HHKB2. It's just the backspace that still causes a few issues occasionally.

My new KUL ES-87 with MX Greens came today so I swapped out my V2 to give it a shot.  Oddly enough, I feel like it is quieter than the V2 by a decent margin even though they both have Greens.

Yesterday I tried to use my model M but I am so used to the CTRL and backspace position of the HHKB that I just couldn't get used to it. And yes I tried using autohotkey but a lot of programs don't like it and just break the program.

So I am back to using my CP-SQ1800

Max Blackbird in Green Gaterons MXC's w/SIP socket mod in each and every switch, White LED's installed in side panels.

For keycaps, currently I have Modern Selectric with Row 1 Blue/Black blanks on the top/F row, but I have Danger Zone planned.

Final touch, installed a sound-dampening pad between the layers.

I love this thing!

That's nice!

Little things like the slight bevel at the front to make it more comfortable to use.

I'm using my HHKB btw.  It's weekdays so I have to use a quieter keyboard.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Thanks to my other half making me tidy the computer room (not a small task) I found the broken switch and, more importantly, missing left arrow keycaps, from my NEC APC-H4100E keyboard!

138345-0

And with a couple of adapters to convert AT to PS/2, and then PS/2 to USB ...

138347-1

It works!  On my Mac!

138349-2

Although the long space bar is taking some getting used to.

This is the very keyboard that prompted me to join GH.  I learned a lot of my programming skills on a keyboard like this many years ago.

Thanks to XMIT for the replacement switch :)

My new "main driver" is a WASD v2 with MX Greens and the two rightmost modifier keys swapped out for MX Locks. I'm also practicing with a Kinesis Advantage with Gateron Blues in the keywells and Greens in the thumb clusters, with two of the small left-thumb keys again swapped for MX Locks.

The Kinesis is hard to get used to, but I think it's repairing some bad typing habits of mine :P

Yeah, I have to be careful to type softly on calls because the mic picks it up and it's obnoxious. The WASD has O-rings which helps, but the Kinesis doesn't and it's like an automatic rifle going off.

The Kinesis is hard to get used to, but I think it's repairing some bad typing habits of mine
Greens.
Sounds loud and fun.

Yeah, I have to be careful to type softly on calls because the mic picks it up and it's obnoxious. The WASD has O-rings which helps, but the Kinesis doesn't and it's like an automatic rifle going off.

I use a V2 with Greens at work too, or at least during tax season I do.  Now that it's the off-season I swapped in a TKL with Greens instead :)

I've been meaning to spring swap my greens with 135g springs but the guy that was suppose to send me a sample never got around to it.

Those sound divine, you'll have to let me know how that turns out when it happens.
