Alps Keycaps?
« on: Wed, 05 June 2013, 17:36:59 »
Does anyone know of a site or user on this forum that sells Alps keycaps? I would rather not salvage old keyboards...

Unfortunately you have to salvage from old keyboards. They're not made new since there isn't the demand for them.

Your best chance is lurking the classifieds. Nobody makes alps key caps anymore.

Oops, what I meant is that even if you can get the caps in the classifieds, they won't be new. They'll also be salvaged.

SP makes Alps caps do they not? I think there is some interest in some custom Alps based keyboards. Until those happen if they do I doubt there would be enough interest to get a reasonably priced groupbuy for cap sets off the ground.

What is with people locking threads?  This discussion isn't necessarily over.

Matias has also stated that they intend on carrying sets.

I locked the thread because it seemed as if my question had been answered.

It shouldn't if the shipper thinks.  I got mine in a slightly padded envelope that was big enough to fit 2-3 of them in original boxes... Apparently it got dropped on the corner and shattered almost every standoff and snapped the face frame in a couple spots.  Mangled the Esc key plate hole too because that was the corner it dropped on and the plate is just a little ear for 1 switch there.

just got mine and shippping was... interesting. It came in an outer box with about 7 random stickers in Chinese (I think) and was wrapped in a good 5-7 layers of tape. After I got through all that the ducky box was wrapped in ONE layer of bubble wrap about 2 centimeters thick, and it didn't even the cover the whole box... But the keyboard arrived safe and everything is well besides a slight wobble. One of the feet must be too short, but everything looks normal.
