« on: Tue, 24 February 2015, 13:55:17 »

i tried to set it to use the  "106key JP" driver. but then it became a paper weight. nothing works.

You probably need the Japanese language pack?

I think you may need Windows 7 Ultimate or Enterprise?

Windows may not use the correct keyboard layout when you connect a USB keyboard to the computer so this is what I did.

I had a Cherry Japanese layout keyboard. Just need to go into the control panel language settings, add keyboard, choose Japanese. You'll then be able to select it with the ALT+SHIFT. It's all about the keymap, no special driver or other nonsense should be necessary. No different than any other language keyboard. The legends on the keycap don't tell the computer what it is, you need to assign the computer the corresponding keymap.
