All new games are becoming borderline generic. Metro 2033, for example. Nothing separates it from a $3 bargain bin FPS except its brilliant atmosphere. I still trust Valve though, but maybe I'm biased because I've been fiending Counter-Strike for around 9 years.

Naw, there was a golden era of video games from about 5-10 years ago, where a new amazing title would come out just about every week, now it's just dropped off to about 4 or 5 notible releases a year.  PC gaming has take a total nose dive because of torrents and xbox.  The only game right now that has any draw to me on the pc is fallout, which is pretty sad, I used to play like 3 or 4 new games every month at least.

For instance, there hasn't been a good racing game since need for speed carbon/undercover, or even prior to that, like what, 2 or 3 years ago?

Really it's like, all the established franchises are being tossed around, so noone really has a clear vision of them anymore.  Fallout, same thing, and there simply aren't any new original interesting games coming out at all the last few years.

No way, this is totally different.  Look at Gamestop's top selling list.  Fricken Rollercoaster Tycoon, Family Feud, and a Civilization and Final fantasy collection are their top selling games. lol  There are preorders for 3 games also that are coming out over the next year or two, and that's it. PC gaming is just totally dead right now.

There were a couple nfs's after carbon too, but they sucked cause they had no free drive either.

In the US, most Gamestops are useless to PC gamers. Its all about the consoles.
I don't play consoles myself although most of you younger guys probably grew up with them.
For racing...I was more into GT Legends or Grand Prix 4.

The last original and interesting one I played was Portal, some others were very interesting and fun, but not really original (btw, check the videos of Portal 2, awesome new ideas). The problem is probably that most things one could think up were already done in some way, or they are technological not doable (yet), or they wont attract enough customers... So they try to stay on the safe side and copy stuff that worked. Well, good thing is that some of this "copys" are much better than the original or other copys before!

Yeah, I think MechWarrior 2 had a Mercenaries expansion, too.  MW4 Mercs is a pretty good, stand-alone game.  I don't like the linearity of the game play, but really, they pretty much have to do it that way tell the story.  And you can always go play sandbox.

Physical activities aren't nearly as fun as computer games. And since I have to do so much running to get back and forth from school, after getting all that exercise (when I don't even NEED it, frick), relaxing at my computer is just a nice way to spend some free hours. Ahhhh... some nice juice, a little gaming, typing on my Model M... yeah that's the life.

Girls... I'm probably one of the more rare individuals that tries to avoid them lol. Well, it's just I don't like people telling me things like "you have my babies" (yeah some girl told me that; what kind of thing is that to say to someone??!?!?!? Kind of rude), or, when they get all giggly and gushy. What's there to giggle at? My jokes aren't even all that great.

One time, some girl came up to me and said "wow it's pretty cold out? *giggle*", and I just said "yeaaahhhh" and stepped back and rolled my eyes. HA! That was great. You should have seen her face.

Well, you know, it's actually better to get married when you're 40 -- perfect age -- rather than immaturity when young (well I hope people get maturity at that age). Most of the young teens in my generation now are all drooling over one another because of physical attraction, rather than loving someone with YOUR MIND. So, when they get older, conflicts arise because they're not mentally compatible. Haha.

So if anything, you avoided a divorce, depression, and finanical issues. Plus you've had more time to acquire some cool computer skillz. And it's never too late to get married or whatever.

EDIT: and yeah, I never had a girlfriend so far either. Oh wait I do! My IBMs! Heh, quality over quantity.

It's not too late...

- Learn how to be nice (Also means -> Learn to lie... "Wow, this new hair color looks good on you" )
- Lower your expectations (You don't look like Brat Pit? -> Don't expect to fish some top-model)
- If you are not good in social situations, try one of this online single hook-up something sites

In the end, all this hook-up and relationship stuff is nothing more than a game,
you just have to learn the rules and train a bit!

Dragon Age Origins: For once a game that doesn't recycle tolkien lore. Everthing is defined from scratch and it all ties in together.

Whoever mentioned Mafia II...

Mafia was a great game. I'd go so far as to say it was GTA IV several years early. Pretty well done story, nice map, attention to detail was nice. Mafia II will hopefully be great as well.

I almost certainly won't be able to run it though.
