Yunhua (Cloud Tea) Switches



Happy New year! This is DesignerStudio. With the excitement of the welcoming 2023, we are going to introduce a new tactile product - Yunhua (Cloud Tea) switches. The term Yunhua 云华 is a romantic coreference of tea. We really like this word because it carries humbleness and implicitness in Chinese traditional culture. Back to the switches, different from most tactile switches in the market, which have sharp and strong bumps, Yunhua (Cloud Tea) tries to pursue a very light tactility for daily use. In order to achieve this, we designed several iterations of the stem, and eventually decided on a smoother bump as shown below.


The modified POM stem incorporated with mixed polymer top housing and PA66 bottom housing further smoothens the tactility. What's more, we choose a regular-length spring (15mm) with light actuation force. The overall typing experience will be "stepping on the cloud" as reviewers suggest.
