m0116 keycaps
« on: Mon, 22 April 2019, 13:36:37 »
I would like to know what units these keys are: https://imgur.com/a/iOt0KME
Now obviously esc is 1u, but are the tab, control and two shift keys on opposing sides the same as those on say, an AEK II?
I'm saying this as the m0116 caps I have built for my next board are missing a few keys, ie. the ones mentioned

I'm guessing the delete/backspace key is 1.75u, and when I build the upcoming board, I will probably end up with two capslock keys, but whatever, I could always use the "." from the numpad of my AEK.

Anyway TLDR; can I swap the highlighted control, tab, and shift keys from an AEK II onto the m0116
Thanks

You can't swap them, they're a bit shorter.

Tab, Control/Caps Lock and left Shift are the same size on a M0116 and a ANSI AEKII. The M0116's right Shift is also the same size as the left. The M0116's "←delete" key is 1.5u.

None of those keys are the same on an ISO AEKII though ... because Apple shifted all alphanumeric keys on the ISO AEK/AEKII 0.25u right and changed the width of the keys on the left and right edges accordingly. For instance, the ISO AEK/AEKII has a 1.75u Tab key and a 1.75u "←delete" key.

The keycap profile is the same on the ISO and ANSI AEK and AEKII, and the M0116 and M0118.
However, none of the keys from the function key row on the AEK/AEKII fits the M0116 or the M0118 because they are higher than the numeric row and the stems are rotated 90°.
