[GB] GMK Nuclear Data
« on: Thu, 02 July 2020, 11:42:55 »
It's about time.

This keyset is based on the original SA Nuclear Data group buy, ran in R3 SA way back in the day. I have attained permission from the original SA GB organizer, samwisekoi to organize this. The original inspiration of the SA set comes from the ND6600 computer.

The green and orange accents are matched to the SP SA colors via RAL, the legends are GMK CP. We brought some of the original ND6600 legend symbols to GMK style, as well as some new original ideas. Biip did a killer job with these.

Interest check link: https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=106801

TYVM to Oblotzky for renders, and Biip again for the wonderful novelties and icons.

so this is the group buy [GB] thread, which is for questions regarding the group buy. it's happening and all the design decisions are usually wrapped up by now. follow the group buy thread for updates on the group buy, shipping, pretty pictures, etc.

in the first comment, you can see that hineybush links the interest check [IC] thread. that is typically the place where people voice their opinions on the design. it's more collaborative than a group buy thread.

welcome to geekhack!

Can someone detail how extreme the difference is between Row 4 and Row 5?

I just noticed it's Row 5 :/ Definitely not a deal breaker, but I'm not really a fan of sculpts

This set has R5 but not R0.  Here is the full Cherry profile for anyone curious.

Apologies in advance if this is the wrong place to ask. I did search and couldn't find an answer.

I really like this set of keycaps and would like to order them. I understand the basic process of group buy after reading about them. But the link for the vendor in Australia is already saying they are sold out - even thought it only opened today.

Does this mean that all sets have all sold out (although they seem to be still available in other regions), or that there is an allocation for this vendor (or region) and that has sold out, or that this vendor is not part of the GB or not updated their website for availability (but then I thought surely they wouldn't  have a 'sold out' message). I understand GBs have a minimum quantity needed to reach production and in this case the GB is open to orders until August and I think this is leading to my lack of understanding.

Sorry for the seemingly inane question, I just couldn't find specific answers anywhere else.

Hey, the units available will be unlimited, don't worry. They most likely just didn't enable the product to be sold just yet, just check back tomorrow. I'm opening the EU GB in a bit as well.

So much love, this is an amazing set.

The colourway, full sculpt notallR3, I am wrapt.  I've been waiting for these caps, my matching orange case is ready to receive!  Thanks for doing this.

But I am a preonic/planck user.   :(

Unless I misunderstand,
* If I want orange accents it's the two R1s in the novelty kit as my only options?
* Cadet + novelties won't cover a Planck of any sort?  I still have to get base kit?
* This would still give me a space bar with either '0' or 'Backspace'?

So since I want to put cadet on my planck with orange accents and a 2u space bar I would have to buy every kit?
I realise I missed the IC and any discussion about ortho, and that information is probably there?

Thanks again,
Looking forward to everyone's delight upon recieving these in the post later,

Prolix

Yea, these kits are not 40s/ortho friendly.

You could probably do cadet, spacebars, and 2 novelties (cadet doesn’t have full punctuation) kits for a Planck. But, that’s pushing some sersious $$$ for a Planck.

Also, you mentioned orange accents, but none of these orange accent keys are compatible on a Planck.
