Very interesting concept, although I find the choice of keys to (subtly) accent to be quite unusual. We'll all OF COURSE have differing opinions on this, but if Caps Lock and Tab are accented, then an accented ISO Enter key would be practically screaming to be added. I think, similarly to PvtSkittles, that accenting F5 to F8 would also be visually interesting. Again: IMHO, YMMV, WDIKAA.


I do have one observation that is not strictly subjective, though: for full US ISO(/ANSISO/ISANSI) support, an R4 \| keycap should be added (or, if necessary, have the R4 <>| key replaced with it... but hopefully both can stay).

Depending on quote, numpad kit might split off from spacebars. I will decide once I know the pricing; if it's too expensive, I will split.

IF you do that split, please consider adding two 1.0Uc keys to the spacebars kit.

Yeah, I feel like a RAMA cap is pretty much a must-have for sets these days, I need those extra couple grams of aluminium/brass! A glow in the dark one would fit this perfectly thinking about it!! Like a glow in the dark firefly one

Unfortubaly no Rama cap or any artisan in general. The reasoning behind this is because as I dislike them myself, I don't have confidence enough in designing one I can be proud of putting out. Same goes for novelties I'm afraid. Sorry!

Update: nordeuk, icon extension and 40s will be offered.
However, as I am not a 40s user, me and macsurfy would like someone well versed in 40s to reach out and assist us. I want to offer a good 40s kit, but as I don't use them myself i will need assistance in creating the kit. You can reach me on discord at Emir#7583

I completely understand you not liking artisan caps. If you decide to change your mind, I think I might have some ideas for you.
Take GMK Cafe for example, on of the caps is a little coffee bean, not the RAMA caps.
I think a tiny fire fly outline the same color as the legends would be nice?

Thank you! You don't have to worry about contrast issues at all, the colors are on the opposite sides of the contrast scale (and pass several contrast algorithms). A dark and a light color rarely has legibility issues. Here are the colors converted to grayscale:


While not crisp like pure white on black, it won't be having any contrast issues.

As for the ISO-UK, unfortunately due to the idea of having a minimized base, you'll have to get the UK ISO keys through the NorDeUK kit.

Me and Macsurfy were playing around with some accents for fun, but I decided at the time that it goes against the general aesthetic that I am aiming for. Here's a test render for fun:


Imo it's too "in your face", and doesn't match the general design idea of a calm set. (I also played around with the purple and lighter blue as well).

I might play around with accents more, but it's not in my immediate plans to offer it.

I think the RAL 040 70 30 looks nice on accents, but if you want something more toned down ... you were already referring to RAL 300 60 15 as "Accents" in your color list.

The soft purple might end up working well. I'm not really pushing for accent keys like that, but its a thought.

I actually really really like the accents kit. If the accents were offered in the esc, spacebar and enter, it would be an immediate buy for me and a great option to add more color and you can still keep the base kit as you visioned it but I understand if it goes against your idea for the kit. Accents do look quite great actually, hope they get to the base set

I prefer the subtle purple texted accents you have in the original pitch in comparison to changing the base color of the caps. However, I think I also prefer having those purple accent texts on the more typical accented keys (esc/caps/enter/backspace/arrows) over the ctrl,alt and the \, tab.

Haha, seems like people really want some accents going. I am thinking, if there's an accent kit, I'll have to de-accent the original accents features in the base (quite a few keys...) as that looks too cluttered IMO. Give me some time to think, and let's see what I come up with!

made an account just to say that I really like this set -as is-. really enjoy the concept of a calm set; i would likely put these caps on a work board !! as such, would be nice if the accent kit / caps could be kept optional, or come together with a base counterpart
