Can someone PM me the prof's email address.  I'm sending my demand letter both by email and certified mail.  BTW, I spoke to an attorney who recommended that if you are sending demand letters, they have to be certified.  The email is just further more due diligence.

I dont understand why he PMed me two months back saying he was on it... But then nothing... very strange...  Also, he seems to log into GH everyday... I mean, if you are going to disappear with people's money, actually disappear..

its almost too half hazard to actually be a scam... lol

I would think that, as a bare minimum, he should get a board ban?

Of course you would have to have a formal way for complaints to be logged.....

If they ban him then any hope of anyone getting the remainder of their stuff is essentially lost.

Since July 25 he has only made that 1 post on August 28. I think he's tired of keeping up the facade that people will eventually get their stuff. You'd think there would be a way to make some legal documents with people giving their information and permission for police to confiscate their stuff from him. I know I remember seeing cases where people got their computers back after proving to the police that it was in a certain location, and the police confiscated them and returned them to their rightful owners.

i know many here would disagree and say im a buzz kill but being as i am a person in the legal industry(not an attorney!), specifically litigation, I see no way any legal action settlement or conviction is possible; I've said this many times in this thread before. Because of Paypal, which has arbitration contracts and does not comply with record requests, being our transaction method and that this would require the owner of geekhack give a deposition and would have to admit some sort of liability in all this. That **** you see on TV is total bull****, litigation even on a small scale of claims, is extremely complicated now; anything you print out from geekhack and paypal is NOT admissable in court. You may be able to get this to go to court but you will never win. I am under the opinion, again as a person that works with litigation cases (not as a lawyer), that we are ****ed.

i guess i should revise my statement and say legal action IS possible, i worded that wrong, but even though legal action is possible, you wont win, that is my opinion

At least the Prof is responding once in a while, the BSP groupbuy organizer hasn't made a peep.

BSP organizer said that paypal locked him since people were charging back and he wouldnt get access to the money for 6 months, so he told everyone to charge back and he will be seen as the scammer, but will accept that. In that case people should have chargebacked I believe. I have mixed feelings because I feel if sherryton maybe discussed it a bit more before forcing gmk to cancel them, both parties could have setttled for maybe a slight premium. but in this case vintage got shafted and his paypal locked out so couldn't even refund although I believe BSP was already had the funds in hand as well.

On the other hand Prof probably hasn't had time to move, probably trying to delay legal action (which  I agree no one can win since its a small claim, and paypal is long past the chargeback time) has essentially gven him a favorable position. A while back, I believe a member posted he would file legal action and was in possession of TheProf's address and real life information. Only then, did he see his items, everyone else was left in the dust (who did not threaten legal consequences).

As much as it pains me to see what has been done to my fellow members, there is not much to be done (legally) to obtain these boards/money back). And although I'm new to this forum before this GB/Bavman;s ever happened, it pains me to see these two threads and fellow members left without items or their money. Perhaps paypal will listen if everyone files a chargeback through their bank or paypal account?

Going off topic for a little bit. But I didn't take it as that, it seemed like he was saying since people already filed with paypal and would be ok with being seen as a scammer from that. Not to reverse right away otherwise believe me, I would have.

I didn't see the 6 month part either, but I think like the Prof groupbuy, there is a huge need for communication and being transparent. It's been over a month since he said he would update but nothing.

I'm glad some people are getting more shipping notices, slow and steady... :D

I think a problem may be how the PCB GB is going as well. I don't know the status of those PCBs, but bavman hasn't shipped them all and is dealing with personal things and MIA for the last month.

Been trying to track down all the parts. I talked to 7bit on DT about the status of switches and his response was:

Quote from: 7bit on DT
The last package has not been sent out because I still wait for around $100.

I consider to just ship what has been paid for, keep the rest of the ordered switches and clear the order, so his account is 0.

and I think WFD might still have plates/PCBs but no confirmation on that yet.

so has he offered any compensation for the paid soldering services that no one has received?

or does he think shipping just the materials 6+ months later makes everything OK

i really hope the those who signed up for services get some sort of resolution. But if he is indeed shipping the stuff he has, including my stuff i hope, then that at least raises him a level from a total scammer to something slightly above that. if he resolves the whole GB he may be able to escape threats and demand letters the rest of his life.

Payments from <username>, TheProfosist (!), <username>, <username>, <username>, <username>, <username>, <username>, <username>, and <username> have been received and marked as shipped for Paypal purposes (to keep them from locking up the PP account). Invoices may or may not reflect the payments yet. Keep checking this thread for the actual ship date(s), or spam this thread/7bit via PM the message "WHERE ARE MY SWITCHES, DID YOU SEND THEM YET." This only includes payments to me via Paypal. Note that the address on your Paypal notifications/notes are not necessarily the addresses 7bit will ship your switches to, he ships to the address on your invoice.
