What's the proper way to store away a keyboard

Like the subject says, is there a good way to store away a keyboard so I can use it when one fails out on me?  What factors should I consider?  I know moisture is an issue for keyboards with metal plates (rust), which can be resolved with desiccant (I think).  Anything else?

Good question. I worry most about the switches. I keep mine in a cardboard box with cardboard separators, but this is most likely not the best way and it is not optimal for longterm storage.

What do you people do?

I do nothing special.  Just leave them in the box they came in (if I have it), and then store them away in a trunk.
