THanks CPT! That wrecked me twice in the clack sales...

Just gonna sticky this for a few days as it's been a hot topic over the last week or so.
-
please also do something to prevent unwatched topics to appear in the unreadreplies listing.

Use this instead, I think it'll do what you want: http://i.imgur.com/BJ2vkGu.png

some threads disappear from "unread replies" when i watch them, some don't. might have something to do with them being sticky. or not.

I was expecting this thread to be more erotic

Does anyone know what usefulness this has?

It stops you from posting when it isn't necessary.

I still think my Hall of Shame idea has some merit as a deterrent...

They wouldn't bother to read it.

Nah, they would post something along the lines of "Funny thread", and then move on completely oblivious to the fact that they're tagged in it.

why is this still stickied?

So let me get this straight: There's a way you can actually prevent people from posting to a topic while you're posting to it? Wow, that really appeals to the egomaniac in me.

It doesn't stop anyone from posting, it stops the message that pops up notifying you when you are replying to a thread that someone else has replied while you were posting.

Okay, this is an old thread, but the issue's still valid.
Why would anyone not want to know the topic they're posting to had been changed while they were typing? Someone might've just answered the question the OP asked, or made the same point(s) you were about to post (not redundantly). Why would anyone object to this?

This originated back in the heady days of the first Clackvent, when dozens, scores, maybe sometimes hundreds, of people would be posting in the same thread at the same time.

I still think there should be a way to actually prevent anyone else from posting to a topic while you're posting to it. Or maybe the whole website—yeah, that'd really be good.
