Title: No Plate Handwire 60% Case
Post by: zlittell on Sat, 26 September 2015, 20:47:25
Eventually going to want a 60% for work.  I thought it might be cool to design something that can be cut pretty easily on my xcarve that wouldn't require a plate with switch holes.  This is what I have modeled so far.

What do you think?

Looks like a bent plate "case" except with a front, back and corners - very nice!  What are you planning to carve it from?

Also have you thought about how to stop it sliding around on your desk?  As pictured there is no room for rubber feet so you might want to leave some additional material in the corners for some :)

Well, it _is_ a plate, it's just a plate+case combo. Good idea, though.

I planned on using something like http://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/SJ-5003%20(BLACK)/SJ5003-0-ND/102573 (http://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/SJ-5003%20(BLACK)/SJ5003-0-ND/102573)
That as feet on the plate.

I found a guy on craigslist with a good price on a lot of cherry cutoff scrap so maybe cut it out of that.  I am not sure yet though.

I plan on posting the inventor files up here whenever I figure out if it works lol.

I am still not sure.  My just find a plate and cut a standard case.  Decisions decisions

Man I want an X-Carve so bad to do awesome stuff like this. Anyway huge fan of the design, I love floating keys cases and one on wood would look great, can't wait to see the finished product.
