XArmor U9BL. I would never recommend it to anyone. However, since Max KB has taken over the design and up'ed the quality, I'd take a look at them. Same design I liked, but with actual GOOD quality.

Thanks guys.  I kept the black DS on board instead of swapping to the dark grey dolch due to the 1u mods/6u space bar.  I was tempted to mod the bottom row to 1.5u mods/7u space so the set would fit complete, but I figure I might one day want to re-enable my winkeys (currently disabled in windows via reg hack) so I shouldn't get rid of them. Hopefully the R4 space/mods I ordered color match enough for me to place the complete set (although I hate to have to mix caps).  As for low post count/dolch set, what can I say?  The 1800 is my favorite layout and Cherry DS caps just feel.... solid?

I can't imagine why anyone would disable the win key via the Windows Registry.
Do you have Windows 7?
Win+Tab, Win+left, Win+right <- those three right there are enough to justify it.

You can just disable left win only in registry (though I can just do this on my Pokers with the dipswitch so it's no longer needed for me). Gets it the f*ck out of the way for gaming, and you still have a right winkey for all the useful stuff for productivity. That's how I roll.

most people hate them. you probably will too. the only way to get keys is to buy more boards and swap. there are a few PCBs on ebay right now for about 20 bucks that have switches and keys on them but no controller.

the short travel makes up for the stiffness IMO. i want to get one with win key but they're pretty much only available new for 75+ and i dont really feel like paying that for a g84 board.

no way, would be too bulky at that point.

lysol its a decent board but has too many keys that i dont/wont use. plus lazorz. i would use an ISO style enter with US layout before a qwertz ansi board.

hmm i guess the layout is exactly the same i dont know why i thought otherwise. derp time... oh, 5 minutes left before i get off work. that explains it...

kelly it's not fun... but it's not bad either. it's hard to explain why i like them because they're scratchy and hardly tactile like browns, they dont make any fun noises and there aren't too many mods you can do. it's purely a utilitarian board that serves its purpose and seems pretty durable.

i'm going to pop some switches open sometime soon to see if the springs are something that can be swapped.

G84 with winkey? How does $19 sound to you? 4100LCMDE.

This linked keyboard ... the Y and Z keys are swapped, also the _ is where ? usually is and a few other differences.

WHAT IS THIS?!?!?

My ANSI keyboard (Ducky Shine) spontaneously starts acting like this in random apps during the day.  Suddenly I type "why" and it turns out "whz".  Or I type ?, and a _ comes out.

Anyone got ideas why?

Probably a bit off-topic, but that link kinda stirred something.

That's QWERTZ layout, more commonly used in the EU. :) That one in particular looks like it's German, judging by the extra O and A with umlaut. It's possible that your apps are switching between EU and US for some reason.

My signature hasn't changed since 2012. I should really update it.

Fair enough, but I have only Australian (and probably US) language files installed in Windows 7, and random apps, like ConText and Thunderbird, suddenly switch keyboard layout, while other apps running at the same time do not?  Closing the offending app and simply restarting it solves the problem every time, but it is frustrating to be typing and suddenly it seems to switch.

If I knew what was causing it, I could stop it.

Sorry, that's enough off topic blathering.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada
