Whaaa? Last Lightsaver or last Duck?
Am I correct that only the top color can be chosen? The bottom is always black?

If i HAD to guess, I would assume its about 2 hours from now. Considering at Pacific time, it is 10pm 5/14/17 and the GB starts 5/15/17

Any IDea What the shipping will be like?
Deadline for order is May 28, 2017 or until 100 sets.Corrected the deadlines. I'll likely start invoicing over the weekend or when the orders reaches a certain point.
Order ONLY if you can pay the invoice by the deadline (May 28, 2016)
Most likely the GB will end long before May 28 (it'll ends in a couple of minutes :-X), if so, are we suppose to pay the invoice whenever the time the GB has ended or is it still on May 28, 2017?

The links for the shipping calculation don't seem to work for me...
I've googled a bit and found this website: https://de.scribd.com/doc/22472081/EMS-Rates-From-Korea
Are these prices accurate?
Thanks in advance! :thumb:

Similar to the Viper/Eagle V2 GB, you have the choice of black and silver for both the top and bottom and they can be interchanged.
If I don't get in the the GB, would anyone be open to adding an extra PCB/plate onto their order for me?
If I don't get in the the GB, would anyone be open to adding an extra PCB/plate onto their order for me?
I have a similar request as Mandrew, I only want a PCB/plate combo. Can anyone kindly order them as an extra to their order? :) Or is this question better asked after all the people that made the list are known?
Please feel free to reply or PM, if interested.
Thanks.
Just a reminder that the GB opens at 6PM EST TODAY!

Maybe I've misunderstood, but why would you want just a PCB/plate combo?

I'm guessing they already have the plates for this layout and prefer the PCB from Duck?
What is the likely hood that the v3 pcb would fit in a v1 case? Trying to decide if I wanna order an extra pcb to expand my layout options.

I'm not sure, but I'll ask.
Boards will be limited to 1 per person this time around. If there are extra slots by the end of the week, I will allow others to buy a second.

Sorry, it can't be sold separately. You'll need to piggy back off someone else's order for that to happen.

Awesome! Thanks!
I don't see this mentioned anywhere. Is the order form going to be through Google, and will need a google account to complete? I apologize it's super obvious and is the norm for any GBs.
Will Switch and led holtites fits perfect in this LS v3 PCB?

This may be a silly question, but it's daylight savings time right now... Is it indeed 6PM EST and not 6PM EDT?
i.e. is it ~3 or is it ~4 hours from now.

I considering joining the drop, but ive never built a keyboard before, so i wonder about this:
$80 USD for an additional plate/PCB combo
-Why would you buy extras for this keyboard?
Is switches (and caps) the only thing in addition i need to buy to have a complete KB?
Another question, seems to be alot of hype about the board, but do you think this is something that will sell out very fast? Its very cool, but its still a 400 usd piece.

Havent done any group buy either, so figure might as well go big or go home
I couldnt find info, but is the cases already produced or will they be produced after GB ends?
Whats a normal timeline for something like this?
What are the options I need to decide on? Just to be ready when the order goes live.

Yah I don't think I can join this. I'll be in a meeting...@_@.
I hear you. I purposely blocked off my calendar this morning so people couldn't try and schedule meetings around 3 for me.
100 sets done.
How/when do we find out if we made the first 100?Yes, would be nice to know :)

how do i know if i've made it?Elton is the supreme group buy maestro. Everyone will know, soon.
I'm so nervous we're already over 100 :-[
oh my god. Came to fill out and got stock on plate option. Have no idea about the different versions and now its to late. Oh well.
wow it's no longer accepting responses. does that mean i got in if i was able to submit?Nope! There will be #101, #102, etc. So if #74 cancels, everyone moves down by 1, and #101 becomes #100 and gets in on the GB.

Now that I've made a decision (alu) can anyone explain to me the difference in plate materials?
The LightSaver's PCB is screwed into the base so this is essentially a PCB mounted keyboard with the plate aligning everything. The difference in materials will mostly be for looks and sound. You could even go plateless with PCB mount switches.
In other keyboards the plate may be mounted to the case, leaving the PCB suspended by the switches. This is where materials matter. Acrylic or polycarb that is a uniform 1.5mm thickness is unsuitable, aluminum is more forgiving and steel is going to be stiffer and have more ping. Most people agree that steel would be best for linear switches but may be too harsh for switches with sharper tactility like MX clears, MOD and Zealios. Its preference.
Any color options on the aluminum plate?

Not really sure what you're trying to say here when you say the PCB is screwed into the base vs the plate mounted to the case. Common mounting references are tray mount (Pok3r style), top mount (like many customs), and bottom mount (TX87). The Lightsaver looks to be top mount, like many boards produced in Korea and by duck.
Just trying to clarify some terminology.

I got in on this GB but am now realizing I don't now the full details of this iteration. There isn't an exploded view of the construction like in the Viper/Eagle thread, just assumed it was the same idea as the previous versions. If its not tray mounted, I wonder how the plastic plate will work. Maybe milled polycarb, hopefully Elton can clarify for us?
The construction will be exactly like Viper/Eagle V2.
No anodized alum. plate (colors) available.
It (plastic plate) will be clear polycarbonate.
Anyone happen to know if Holtite sockets fit on the pcb?I've asked Elton be he said he's not sure, you could email Duck and ask them, post the answer on here once you got it. I would like to know too

I just checked out the spreadsheet and it says the holtites don't fit on the Octagon V2 pcb, but it says measured not verified. The link has a picture of someone with a $120 set of calipers that is using them completely wrong. To measure gaps, they should be using the other end. Dumbest thing I have seen all day→MoreShow Image(http://i.imgur.com/NsulKgz.jpg)
Using digital calipers, I measured the switch holes of my VE.A PCB where holtites sit perfect and they are 1.44-1.46 mm in diameter. The switch hole diameter of my extra ZZ96 PCB is right at 1.60mm and they fall through. Switching to the LightSaver for this very reason, having them on the VE.A really spoiled me.
Holtites work on the Octagon V2 (https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=78549.msg2332517#msg2332517)

I'll agree that he is using them wrong, but it is obvious from the photo that his calipers are too large to be used properly to measure holes of this size. Chances are he was trying to do the best he could to help someone else out who asked the question so maybe ease up on who you're calling dumb.

Those calipers are not too big and it's quite obvious they can measure the gap perfectly if the other end was used. I would expect that anyone with a $100+ set of Mitutoyo calipers would be able to utilize them correctly. I appreciate the attempt to help, but it should have never been added to the compatibility sheet.

This shows the proper way to use those calipers to measure an inside diameter. The tip of one side of the caliper used won't even fit into the switch hole much less both.
To properly physically measure hole diameters this small you would need a calibrated set of pins or similar.

I've been a lover of MX Clears/Zealios for the longest time, but I might dabble in some vintage blacks. Looking forward to Carbon SA's round 2 as well

I plan on making a half plate for my second PCB. Alphas and numpad 1-9 will be PCB mounted whilst the rest are plate mounted ;D

I was thinking about trying this. So did you order a polycarbonate plate which you're gonna cut yourself? What switches are you gonna use on it?

I'm not sure if I'm going to modify the poly plate I ordered or have one fabricated. I do plan making a custom SS plate that allows for switch top opening so I might just make two variants, a full and a half.
As far as switches, vintage blacks, ergo clears, or silent blacks.

What springs and lubes were you thinking? I'm probably going vintage black, maybe swap housings for Zealios, stickered. But this is my first time going with linears

Stick with the stock vintage housings IMO and go with thin switch lube.

How's the GH4 thick lube (Applying a little bit) for vintages?
i've been reading through and saw no mention so i'm doubting it... but are these going to be numbered/serial in any way?
I'll be sticking to my tried & true MX Browns, last time I used MX Black in any variant was on my Deck 82 back in 2005... all I remember is they wore my hands out.
Judging by the Viper gb, acryllic diffuser inserts for the two side led areas won't be included right? How would one go about getting something like that? Also, it seems like there's space in the bottom housing for a detachable weight. Does that generally get made by others in the community and not by Duck? I'm new to the custom/high-end side of mechanical keyboards so I apologize if I sound oblivious.

if you go off the viper/eagle buy... that was started at the end of November, the first boards were shipped March 13th. Mind you there was some delays but stlll thats a reasonable expectation that we should see first shipment around middle to end of Sept.Thank you very much

Are you talking about the the long thin diffusers that go around the perimeter of the case or the two "grip" cutouts on the bottom sides of the case?
Anyone around the Asia region willing to assemble this for me? My soldering skills are brutal and rather not ruin this damn :-X

I believe these were an optional bottom add on called duck feet, but I think the last time they were offered was during the Octagon v2 GB (3 duck board GBs ago before Eagle/Viper and Blackbird).

Really? Don't see the issue. The IC thread was up for over a month so you knew it was coming.
Please email me for any further changes on your orders by tomorrow. I will be updating the spreadsheet to reflect final prices before I start to invoice.
All outstanding emails will be replied by tomorrow as well.

Correction, these are the duck feet: http://duck0113.tistory.com/125. They were intended to be used with a flat acrylic bottom.
I believe Wicky is asking about the acrylic windows which haven't been offered in quite some time.
Hi Elton, I also sent an email recently to change the top case color from silver to black. Just wanted to make sure you got it. Sorry for the inconvenience.

****.First: It does support ISO, why is noone reading the first post?
This supports ISO and LSV2 doesn't? Looks like I'm not gonna get an ISO Lighstaver ever. RIP my life. Could really do with a PCB and plate to put in my V2 (if it will fit) so I can get it in ISO.

Pretty sure Elton doesn't transfer orders that way. It would be a spit in the face to people on the waiting list who have higher priority. We haven't even gotten our invoices yet; there's no money to get back since we haven't paid.

There was a limit of 100 boards. Elton cut off taking orders at 130 people. So if any of the first 100 drop off the next person on the list of 101-130 gets a chance.
There is no way to get on the waiting list at this point. It would be pointless anyway since it's unlikely more than a couple of people are going to drop off.
Edit: Had he kept the order form open, we'd probably have a waiting list that was 150 deep by now....

So I got what all of you guys are talking about...so if someone drops out, the place goes to the one in the waiting list one by one.
Jesus sorry for taking so long to understand. I'm just being obsessive right now.
Damn what should I do. The price will rise like doubled like ViperV2 once the GB is done right.
- Us Europeans have to pay ~20% import tax on the whole price ( (Board + shipping + whatever fees) x 1.2 = final price ) so for me it's from 444.98 up to 529.52 just to get it
If anyone want to drop off, please let me know! I might wanna have black case though!

you could always get a cheaper 96 key alternative
Double is probably about right, but it may take awhile before someone wants to sell theirs.
At least I'd like to hope so. I bought mine tip use a my daily and I'm hoping the others that got in did so because they want the board and not just to flip it for a quick profit.
Well, sometimes the price jacks up a lot, but this might have some reasons:
- Us Europeans have to pay ~20% import tax on the whole price ( (Board + shipping + whatever fees) x 1.2 = final price ) so for me it's from 444.98 up to 529.52 just to get it
- Most boards are built with switches (some $60 or so, sometimes way more) and stabilizers and lubed and time for soldering, sometimes you find unbuilt sets
So yes, there is definitely a markup but most of it has its reasons
I am going to start invoicing now. I have replied and updated all changes.
For those who emailed me regarding sending gift payments. Please send them with your order # and other specific information you want to add.
It will all be shipped as gift under a certain amount.
Also, I made a error on the shipping costs. I put the costs at up to 3 kg where it should be up to 3.5 kg. The invoices I sent up to LS12 will remain the same, but the rest I am changing since I haven't invoiced them yet. Sorry about that.

It's ok if I pay by the May 28, 2017 right? I'm waiting for my cc to get mailed to me. Shouldn't take more than 3 days. I hope.
I want to say that there might be a chance of people on the waiting list actually getting orders too. For Octagon V2, there was another run of 30, and I think people on the waitlist had first chance to grab the board. What!

Is this really a possibility? My naive dithering on the order form resulted in a pathetic #127 for me... :(

For all those using screw-in stabs: I just ordered these (http://www.ebay.com/itm/162358602421) on eBay - just figured they're worth a mention. The screws used in Zeal's stabs are M2x4mm just FYI. These nylon washers are perfect to prevent shorts on the PCB and will look tidy/professional. Cheers!Awesome. Ty. I've been using plastic screws but they look ugly. I will give these a try.

Anyone know why this and the Eagle/Viper GB's only come in Silver/Black? Not complaining, but I would've killed for a silver top/red bottom combo
I thought it would go to 101?This! I mean, just maybe wait after the payment deadline has ended and then go down from #101 to #135 - there will definitely be some among it who are more than willing to pay, until now there are 8 unpaid orders in the top 100

From previous Elton/Duck GB, first 50 gets made and shipped in 3-3.5 months. Second 50 after shortly after.
You could use the Viper/Eagle GB as a guide.

Just picked up a GSX96 from Taobao, and have all the parts incoming. I figure if I want to build my own LightSaver, I better build something a little less costly first! Looking forward to this summer/falls projects!

I thought people already in line get bumped if there is a canceled order? Or are spot changes allowed since the spec is already set?

That's only if the person cancels order before an invoice is paid. After invoice is paid to Elton, the seller and buyer agrees to contact Elton and Elton refunds, and re invoices the buyer.
The reason is very simple. The next person in line may not pay invoice for days, thus, it makes sense to have a dedicated buyer contact Elton.

What size? Which one of all these options? Excuse my ignorance.

How many in the first batch? And is it shipping in the order on the spreadsheet? Can't remember if this has been answered already, apologies if so.
TFW #62 :'(
Well, anticipation is the best kind of joy, at least I heard :)

if that is really the new blackbird.. just an 1800 with kind of pointless extras gap and keys. tx-cp is more attractive. unfortunate as blackbird v1 is probably my favorite board aesthetically.
Hi all, I just heard from Duck and as the Korean GB is slightly delayed, there will be an slight impact on our GB. The estimated shipping for R1 will be around the end of this month and the next batch will happen shortly after that.
I have one spot for sale. PM or email me. Thanks.

I know that I have to wait a bit longer since I'm in Batch 2, but nonetheless its exciting to see units starting to roll out ;) seeing how a Korean redditor listed his for sale already, I guess Korean GB is done, sort of Batch 0
Hi all,
The Korean GB has been shipped so ours will follow shortly after. Stay tuned!

P.S. All spot transfers has to go through me first before you sell your spot. I've received a PM of someone pretending to sell a spot when it was a fake account. Buyer beware!
Hi all,Thanks for the warning. I've been so eager to get in on this GB I might have fallen for this. Happy to take any non scammer's spot through proper channels.

Very nice! How long is it generally between r1 and r2? Super hyped for my first Duck board!
I'm looking for a extra pcb + SS plate prefered. If you want to get rid of it, please PM me and we can talk with elton for transfer.
Is it OK to use Cherry Screw-in PCB mounted stabilizers or better to go with regular ones?Screw-in stabs should work, Duck has changed the acrylic layer to support them
Also following leds should work nicely: https://kbdfans.myshopify.com/collections/keyboard-part/products/f1-8mm-led-100pcs?variant=35930289101 ?
Any update on shipping? I saw that the Korea GB participants received theirs :)
Hey guys, I spoke to Duck and there seems to be some packing issues, perhaps with material and whatnot. Please stay posted and sorry for the delay.

Here's a small update. The first 50 will ship out in 2 weeks. I believe the issue related to how the boards were packaged - we want to make sure it makes it to you undamaged.I was sad I missed the ls v3 but the jetfire might make up for it, wasn't sure if I liked it THAT much but the more I look at it the more I'm needing it... 😍😍
In terms of Jetfire, the GB will start after all LSV3 are shipped. I will be creating an IC thread shortly with more details.

Since it's getting closer, what kind of builds/keyset do you plan?
I plan to use MX blacks with light spring. Probably will use GMK Dolch with this.

Ha! I'm probably gonna be going with the grey alpha GMK Oblivion on my black case. :) With silent blacks. Undecided on plate, I have steel and alu on order... not sure what'll suit the silent switches better. Steel may be better for linear but the alu may help absorb more sound to compliment the silent switches.

Nope. It ran early, and is already shipped.
So Jetfire is after this, but duck has also posted about the trooper.

Hi all, still waiting for an update from Duck. Last I spoke with them was there would be an update after the Korean holidays. I followed up again and I should hear back in a couple of days. I wanted to provide you guys with a more solid update but that’s all I know of right now. So sorry for the delays.
Woooo!!!
Hi Elton,
Wondering if you (or anyone else!) can tell me whether the LSV3 PCB is designed with hotlite support (for both switches and LEDs)?
I've a couple of switch types that I want to test, and don't want to run the risk of soldering the board twice.
That aside, I'm also looking forward to an update on production/packaging/shipping progress (my set is part of the second batch). No pressure, yet eager to know when I might be likely to receive this wonderful board!
Oh, and does anyone know if/when the trigger on the jetfire is likely to be pulled?
Cheers!

The fact that someone decided there was sufficient information to add the Octagon v2 to the chart as incompatible is beyond me (https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=89546.msg2424609#msg2424609).
Holtites seem to work (https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=86087.msg2402988#msg2402988) on both rounds of Viper/Eagle PCBs, the BlackBird, and even the Octagon v2 (https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=78549.msg2332517#msg2332517).
It should work on the LSV3 provided Duck doesn't suddenly change the PCB footprints.
20 orders are shipped and tracking is up for them. The rest will be shipped shortly after. All lightsavers are produced and ready. It won't take much longer for the 2nd batch to ship out.
Also, once the first 20 that received theirs, can you please open the box carefully and check whether or not the air cushions that they used for the new packaging are still in tact?
Thanks.

Uh, I'm confused. You said first 20, yet the tracking numbers are interspersed?
I hope you're not serious. There's a difference between "the first 20 being shipped" and "20 shipments sent out in random order, plus Elton's." Here's the quote: " the first 20 has been shipped and tracking numbers will be posted today." I would've thought that #1-20 would be shipped.Really though, why does it matter? We'll all have our boards soon.

I was told from Duck that the first 20 would have been shipped, but I have now found out that it's not in the chorological order. I understand your frustration, but please be patient. The first 20 are being shipped in a new kind of packing. Once I confirm that everything is fine along with others, the remaining 30 from the first batch will be released. They're all ready to go, but I need to confirm that the new packing is adequate.

Mine will arrive Thursday, still don't know what to do with it... Wish it was a TKL Layout :D (changed my layout preferences after ordering)...The LightSaver is a 96-key layout board. What do you mean by TKL?
I am planning on that (selling at cost), or trading for a TKL kit that I missed. Duck Orion was the Duck TKL, right?.Yes. Orion was one of the TKLs. There's many other older Duck TKL models you could find. Best of luck in finding the right keyboard for you!
I bought into this GB before trying a 96% board for an extended period of time. I found that I don't like the super compressed layout as much as just a regular TKL. I don't use the numpad as much as I use the navigation keys.
Just received mine, the packaging is great. Doesn't look like there are any issues with the top or bottom portion of the case.
However, the underside of the SS plate seem to be burned on mine. Anyone else has there like that?

Will take a picture tomorrow. I already re-packed it away until I build it tomorrow.
Burn marks on the underside of SS plates are normal. For those who received your boards, please check your PCB to make sure it fully works. I've had many contact me after the fact months or years later mentioning that there are issues. As mentioned in the OP, I can only guarantee damages/defective items for 7 days from the day you receive the items.Woohoo!!
On another note, I've advised Duck that the packages that were received are in good order. Now we wait for the remainder of the first batch :).
Edit:
Remaining first 30 are ready to go and will ship today! ;D

Plug in the PCB by itself and use tweezers and stick it in each of the through-holes for the switch. If it works, it'll register on a switch test program such as Aquakeytest or Switch Hitter (Elite Keyboards).

Would /r/mm be the best place to find one of these now?Yup, second hand market will be the only place to get one. The first 20 v3s are just barely making their way to their owners so I’d keep your eyes peeled if you want to grab one.

Might not be able to buy replacements, but the second link you had showed CAD files for diffuers on the Viper/Eagle, so maybe he'll release the CAD files for LSV3 and you can get new ones cut :)
I have a spare PCB + Polycarb plate to sell at cost if anyone is interested in grabbing a spare, decided I won't use it.
For any other UK folks wondering, I've got a customs payment of £25 on mine - so not too bad considering. Mine is due for delivery on Monday as customs have taken so long to process it.
What value was declared on the packages?UK duty is usually an £8 fee plus 20% VAT so as mine was £25 it must be approximately £100 declared value. I won't have it till Monday to confirm the listed value though.
What value was declared on the packages?
Does anyone know where I can find the keymapping software for this? Thanks in advance :)).

What version of O2D Keymapper are you using? I was using v1.10.XXX and it was giving me the same thing as you were getting. I had to use v1.11.665 to get it to work.

Duck usually declares things around $20-40. Occasionally German customs will ask to see your invoice to make sure it isn't underdeclared.
Declared value on mine was 35 to California.
Noob question: I haven't build my board yet, but does the PCB come pre-flashed or do you have to program it?

You will need to program it. If you have any issues feel free to drop me a pm. After my own initial struggle the process is pretty straightforward.

My PCBs were pre-programmed with basic layout, I didn't need to flash anything initially.

I though anything over $20 into Canada was subject taxes and/or duties.
Just FYI I declared my package at 35.- USD + original shipping amount and all worked well.PCB or Plate mount will work
Dumb question: I saw that PCB has switch mount holes. Does that mean I have to use switches with PCB mount legs. Just ordered brand new Silent blacks to find out that they came without legs (from reichelt.de).

Dumb question: I saw that PCB has switch mount holes. Does that mean I have to use switches with PCB mount legs. Just ordered brand new Silent blacks to find out that they came without legs (from reichelt.de).

Always go with legs if you can. This will avoid any switches being slightly not centered.

looks at some of my early builds
Well this is bit sad. Basically ordered wrong switches. :-\PCB mount isnt required but will help with alignment.

VicareyG just ran a GB for pcb mount mx silent blacks so they do exist. Most stores just stock the plate mount variant since they’re slightly cheaper.Well this is bit sad. Basically ordered wrong switches. :-\
I don't think cherry has silent or speed switches available in pcb mounted anyway, only switch mounted so don't worry too much.
Thanks for the tips!Well this is bit sad. Basically ordered wrong switches. :-\PCB mount isnt required but will help with alignment.
Here's what I've done in the past with plate mounted switches:
1. Install switches on 4 corners to provide some structure, don't solder yet
2. Install 1 row of switches and keycaps while checking alignment, switch seating, and excessive gaps. Make the appropriate adjustments
3. Solder one leg per switch and check alignment again. Make the appropriate adjustments
4. Solder other leg of each switch
5. Repeat steps 2-5 till complete

Thanks for the update!

So I just got the keyboard, and it looks great. One thing I will say is the inconsistency in the steel plates. One of them is perfect, but the other one is similar to what someone else posted earlier. A lot of burn and scratch marks on the underside. I'm not sure if we're eligible to get another one because of this, but it's a bummer on an otherwise great product.
Hey, just got my shipment in!
I noticed my PCB has some surface scratches, but I don't think any of the scratches are damaging any traces. So not the end of the world.
Is this the type of defect you're able to replace?

Not much more than what our Korean overlords were asking for :-*
Does anyone have any idea why the in switch leds are only turning on and off when i use the led func, modi, alph, or pad options from O2D. Shouldn't using those keys cycle through multiple different led modes?

Should be a LED setting for that...there are so many functions it confuses me.

I soldered the corners switches and started testing the PCB. I noticed that the top right key, the one that is supposed to be PgDn is only affecting the smd rgb leds. It doesn't register as PgDn? Is there anything wrong? It seems to change a few underglow mods. Also noticed that when I was inspecting and testing the PCB. I also noticed that all underglow RGBs are set to a white colour.. previous PCBs all had colour cycle on by default.

Regarding the key in top right corner.. I assume it can be remapped to whatever using O2D software.

Were you going to solder on the hotlites? I heard that there's not a nice fit with them and the PCB

Don't know exactly what I'm doing until I receive the holtites. I also have some mill max sockets that I can use if the holtites don't fit well or won't stay in place on the bottom row. The LED holtites are all installed and working, but the GB I bought them from shipped led separate from switches so I'm still waiting on them to see exactly how I'm going to do this.
Interesting. I was planning to just tack the holtites in place on the bottom of the PCB.Yeah, it appears to flow over the top. Hoping to look back into it this weekend and like you were saying, add some to the bottom as well.
So does your solder actually flow over the top of the holtite and actually sandwich the top lip against the PCB?
At first I checked in on GH and saw that the title still reads '1st Batch Shipped, 2nd Batch Pending' and was slightly disappointed by another day passing, but then I read up and mine is already in Frankfurt! So excited oh boy

I am not going to be home when my package arrives, hopefully USPS requires signature confirmation. Can anyone else confirm this to be the case?Yeah, signature was required for LS3.

Just got mine! Still waiting on switches though, is there an easy way to test the PCB's to make sure they are fine?Use a pair of metal tweezers and short the two switch pins. Check on a key tester such as Switch Hitter. Rinse and repeat

This is what I do too.
A word of caution though, if you're using the needle point electronics tweezers like these (https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/619%2B%2BnqB7rL._SL1500_.jpg) do not stick the tweezers into the sockets to make the connection. That is exactly how you rip pads on a pcb.
A multimeter would work! You can do a continuity test.
Cool, just to be clear, all i have to do is turn the multi-meter to continuity mode, and test the pins where the switch would go to see if the meter makes a beep? (All while the board is unplugged)
Anybody tried to run QMK/TMK firmware on this keyboard? Thinking to port it there if not done..
Yes, it shouldn't be very hard. I know there was implementation for Lightsaver v2. Will try to look over weekend into it.Anybody tried to run QMK/TMK firmware on this keyboard? Thinking to port it there if not done..
It can be done in theory, since QMK and o2d both require the same controller.

There is already a TMK fork for a few Duck boards. (https://github.com/xauser/tmk_keyboard/tree/xauser/keyboard)
Maybe it helps and saves you some time.

Picked up mine from my local post office today, all arrived safely :). Will test the PCBs tonight. I'll have a spare PCB and plate (either SS or polycarbonate) in a few weeks when I figure out which I prefer, so let me know if you need them.
Is anyone else's ss plate a bit warped? Or is that normal? It's not unusable but I'm just curious about what other people have noticed.
Packaging seemed overkill, but better be safe than sorry ;)
Silver top and bottom, steel plate, retooled blacks (5pin, pushing 99 of those suckers through the PCB was a PITA, but certainly worth it!), lubed and polycarb films added, 52g springs. OG cherry stabs, lubed and clipped. Caps are GMK Oblivion, Hagoromo Base kit
FYI, hard to notice but the diffuser acrylic has plastic film on both sides that you can peel off. Seasoned Duck enthusiasts probably know this already.Show Image(https://i.imgur.com/bK38p14.jpg)

On TKLs I put Fn somewhere between RAlt and RCtrl. On my Octagon and TX75 I have it right next to Up Arrow key.
It would have been a natural place to put it on the same location as on my Octagon, but that's where the numpad cluster starts on the Lightsaver.
I use Fn key for switching layers and other keyboard specific functions. I thought everyone used Fn for that specific purpose? :-)

I have similar setup as yours on TKL and 65/75% layouts. Although I prefer to use separate keypad with smaller layouts. I try hard to avoid using combos (two hands or pinky action). So, I don't use FN much. Don't know how relevant, but here is my set up on LSV3.
I use default top right key as MFN for infrequently used functions. I have split NUMPLUS and use the key next to NUM* as dedicated layer change key. I just use two layers and since there are plenty of keys, most frequently used functions have dedicated keys. For example, in the odd layer, numpad functions normally, in the even layer, NUMLOCK, NUMDIV, NUM*, 7, 8, 9 funtion as TKL editing cluster. This makes things easy to go back and forth between TKL and LSV3 (or any other CP layout).

That's what NumLock has always been for. NumLock on = numbers show up when you press the buttons, NumLock off = secondary legends (arrows, home/end and pageup/down). The Lightsaver supports this by default

Howdy everyone, I made a plate (https://drive.google.com/file/d/1fitAX-lB1SgCqEknrVAg2rBwbNfbbUf-/view) with a few options, the bottom one is meant for DIY. If anyone can laser-cut some acrylic to confirm fitment that would be great. I measuring it up with digital calipers and everything lines up when printed from Autocad 1:1. I should have an acrylic case finished soon if someone wants a place to drop in their extra plate + PCBs.

I will not be doing a GB but all files will be open source. Everything should be able to get it cut from ponoko for less than $100, even cheaper if you have access to a laser cutter or skip the matte black top and opal inlay for underglow. I have enough proztotypes to account for kerf and ensure a snug fit between certain pieces.
That link up above is the file. Once you have that you can send it to a company of your choosing to have a plate cut. Excuse me for being thick. What are the 3 plates? I'm interested in trying to order and make some.As far as I can tell the first one looks like a stock plate, second one has switch top opening cutouts with a single bottom row layout and the last one has no switch top opening with the same bottom row layout as the second plate.
A quick question- how do you set up the leds on the windowed "NumLock" and "CapsLock"? I don't seem to find it. I see the indicator les on the top left corner but the led on the switches do not turn on.

did you solder the LEDs in the right way?
Hi everybody,
I have finally uploaded my QMK fork for Lightsaver V3.
Link to firmware: https://github.com/qmk/qmk_firmware/tree/master/keyboards/lightsaver
Old link to my fork: https://github.com/rasmusx/qmk_firmware/tree/lightsaver_v3/keyboards/lightsaver
Tested features:
- Working key matrix
- RGB underglow
- Keys backlight
- Indicator leds
Been using it for over a week now. Haven't seen any problems yet, but if you do see please let me know.
EDIT: Code is now merged to QMK master. Use that instead of my fork link.
What kind of size LED's should I use for the indicator lights?
Good news! SA on 11 degrees is actually not that terrible!Show Image(https://i.imgur.com/4qLwdtP.jpg)
Bad news! With SA caps (Cherry is fine) the bottom row, especially the space bar, scratch on the inside of the bezel. It appears there is not enough clearance, might wanna inform Duck on that and keep a bit more distance in future designs. I'll probably have to swap back to GMK tonight :( Anyone else with the same problem or any ideas for solution? I might instead also just use the GMK Oblivion white spacebar, the modifiers are okay. RIP beautiful spacebar thock.

How is your clearance between the top row and the bezel above? If there is more room there, then the plate can be wiggled up with the plate screws slightly unfastened.

1.8mm, i think
Will I see any difference with diffused LEDs for the indicators?
What kind of size LED's should I use for the indicator lights?3mm works also.

Finally have some time to build my kit, was wondering if there was a build guide somewhere, or is the Korean forum post the only one there is? Thanks!
Change your region on the pc to korea then restart and it should fix that. http://i.imgur.com/ZN1QdAL.pngOn my Windows10 it looks like this: https://i.imgur.com/oaPeXNO.png I also downloaded the Korean language pack but I am still unable to get O2D to show up with arrows. It works anyway with them being question marks.
I used the ZealPC screw in stabs and had no problems (that were apparent). Everything looks like it lines up ok, maybe once its in place it doesn't touch?
Is anyone else having trouble with screw in stabs?
I thought the diffuser would support? Currently have the bottom diffuser hitting two screws (spacebar stabs).

Hello, just letting everyone know that the plate file I made a while ago is a confirmed fit.Where is the plate file shared. Interested in making a plastic plate out of it. Cheers!

I posted it on the previous page (https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=89546.msg2529757#msg2529757). While I don't have the file published for it, Sculpteo does laser cut 5mm acrylic. Though I think the best solution is a 1.5mm plate + 3mm plate. PM me for custom options and I can certainly whip one up for you.
Those files are for a regular 1.5mm plate. I am sure polycarb (or delrin?) would hold up at that thickness but I think acrylic is too brittle.Hello, just letting everyone know that the plate file I made a while ago is a confirmed fit.Where is the plate file shared. Oh, OK. Thought you had the file in i.e. CAD. Was thinking of dropping at a friend that does cutting. I'm gonna think about it. I'm located in Sweden so shipping would be a bit expensive.
Kind of a stretch, but does anyone have an extra plate/PCB they’d be willing to part with?

Crazy markup but someone on r/mm posted this: https://www.reddit.com/r/mechmarket/comments/879tyk/usil_h_lsv3_pcb_alps64_bmini_ex_x2_fc980c_shine/
Does anyone have a ELI5 guide of how to use QMK for the LSV3? I'm very new to things like this and have no idea where to start

...like a 5yr old thats used QMK before on other boards? ...or like a 5yr old that doesnt have a "build environment" set up for compiling the needed .hex file to flash to the board?

Theres a bunch of tutorials about getting a linux environment set up to compile qmk. You can probably just follow along the QMK documentation (https://docs.qmk.fm/)... however it seems to be hit or miss if you have windows10 if the built in linux kernel for something like Ubuntu will work. I personally went with MSYS2... but i'll be honest, I tend to try and do as much as possible using GUI tools like easyavr or just recently starting to get a successful build using the beta online configuration tool: http://config.qmk.fm/

So, I acquired a built kit from Reddit, and it showed up with the front plastic piece broken. How in the world do I go about getting it replaced?

I'm in the same boat as you, my acrylic front diffuser is also broken. I have contacted Elton quite a few times already, and he told me twice he's going to ask Duck about it, but I have yet to hear back.
if you want to get the diffuser cut yourself, you can download the .dwg from kbdlab here (http://kbdlab.co.kr/index.php?mid=board_housing&document_srl=4623261)
Hi I just bought the kit from another seller
After I soldered them all, I found that 5tgv colum does not work entirely
Is this problem with pcb? How should I fix my problem? Any thought??
Thanks

Does LSV3 support switch top removal?
Does LSV3 support switch top removal? No but I uploaded a .dxf file for a plate which will support switch top removal earlier in the thread. You may have to modify it for your preferred layout.
