"Russian" Poker II
« on: Sat, 10 August 2013, 16:03:47 »
Hey GHers, I'm bringing you my finished "Russian" project. No, I'm not Russian, I don't live in Russia or even know how to speak in Russian. "So why did you do this?" Well, my project is based on this soccer jersey, probably the most beautiful jersey I've ever seen:

"What did you do?"

-62g springs
-Stickered (blue was the only color I had!)
-MX Clear on spacebar
-Custom aluminum feets
-Painted the treble aluminum case, aluminum feets and stock plate

So, enough words, there's the "almost potato" pictures :)):

Unfortunately I had some problems with painting. When I tried to remove the remaining plotter glue, I removed some details of double-headed eagle. :( Those pictures above are from yesterday (with plotter glue):

Well, everything wasn't perfect, but I liked the final result. I hope you enjoyed. Thanks!

Only complaint; Football*

Something tells me this keyboard is worth at least $300, but only if sold with the Jersey together. Beautifull work whoever did it!!!

Yeah, I know. :)) Around here we call it football too. But since most GHers are american, they may associate "football" as american football.

American Football should be called Handball. It almost hardly touches the feet. Soccer is rightfully called Football.

In Australia "football" refers to Aussie rules football, colloquially known as "footy".

Soccer is called soccer, and rugby is called rugby.  American football ("grid iron?") is not really referred to at all, at least in the circles I move in, which are (a) limited, and (b) generally don't reference much apart from footy anyway.

The Comrade Keyboard!
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Did you paint this yourself? Very nice painting. I want to paint my poker case too. The black is so plain. What happens when you remove the back plate of the Poker (that has the name)? Can it be reattached?

The burgundy color wasn't me. I took it for a painter to prepare the surface (aluminum) and pain with spray gunt. After it, I put the plotter and took it again to him. I painted the double-headed eagle, feets and stock plate with a "normal spray", gold.

You need to unsold all the switches to get the plate free.

Considering how rough they are, probably there's a lot of contact between feet and balls...
