I only purchase the polished finishes and if I ever got another material, I would polish it myself. I'm not a fan of the unfinished plastic look.

Is the profile only number row keys? Or can you do DSA profiles?

For the starman keycap it is only number row, but I can do other profiles as well.

Yes, those would be the brick blocks + mystery blocks.

I'm doing some maybe newish things with my casting. My sketchbook is literally full with ideas. Hopefully they work.

Excited for more to come, I love Mario, but not for my keyboard. :)
I'm more into dark things, however once my girlfriend decides on a keyboard we will begin to customize it so far she's only picked the Nyan cat keyset.

That's good she's been excited since she's seen my plan for my keyboard even though she doesn't have a keyboard to put her caps on yet, I'll follow this, and see what you come up with. :)

These are the first pass at them. The brown stain is a bit different than the yellow, and my hobby brush needs replacing, so the left mystery box isn't perfect. I'll have one of each fresh made in a couple of weeks.

As a question do you think you will be making a gold plated star key in the future? that would be very nice :D

Also just got the shipping notice going to be sat next to my door now until it comes :x

Wait just checked then what would it cost for the star key to be gold plated? as a rough idea as I may get one later in the year :x

Got my star today.  So cute!

Going to take photos of it on my Watermelon board when I am home in a month or so.  Kinda scared of taking it off a switch though, as I have not worked with caps of this material before.  We'll see what happens!

Cherpkey Star STAR its awesome glittery and you should all get one, amazing hand painting even put the little white shine on the eyes, and cher added extra glitter for me :D I'm a little careful of the stem though as I think it looks a little brittle :x Other wise thanks a huge bunch for this its awesomenessness.

Its awesome thanks, a little scared of the stem though as it looks like it may want a few of those cross supports like a more key has but otherwise love it :D

If anyone hasn't received something they ordered please let me know. It would seem that some of my recent packages didn't make it out (though claims they did have been heard, so watch for duplicates please) so I'm putting together the replacements with rush (no cost to you, of course). Please let me know if you didn't receive your order as soon as you can (via PM, please!)!!

Prototype painted! The base is a Rit-Dye Red copy using a blend of red, brown and yellow glass stain paint, top is painted with hobby satin acrylic. Made from UV-Cured Acrylic Plastic and printed via shapeways.

Costs: Shapeways: $10
Design + Handpainting: $10 (2 hours of work per key, + supplies)
To GH + Fry family + Share Our Strength: $10 ($4 to GH, $4 to the Nathaniel J. Walter foundation and $2 to Share our Strength)
           Price: $30 + shipping
Shipping: $3 US, International by USPS by actual cost + $1 for shipping materials

Also available in black UV-Cured Acrylic Plastic Without Painting: $21 + Shipping

Also available in metals --- can be handpainted, but I cannot guarantee the paint will last. I have metal model paint, but I've literally never used it. Add $10 for metal painting per key.

Black Matte Steel -- $40 + shipping
Polished Nickel Steel -- $40 + shipping
Polished Grey Steel -- $40 + shipping
Polished Bronze Steel -- $40 + shipping
Polished Gold Steel -- $40 + shipping
Polished Brass -- $70 + shipping
Polished Bronze -- $70 + shipping
Polished Gold Plated Brass -- $84 + shipping
Polished Premium Sterling Silver -- $110 + shipping

You can specify an additional donation if you'd like as well.

I will be ordering a Sterling Silver CapCap for the Walter family to include with the donation check for the foundation. I will be paying out of pocket for it, so if anyone would like to contribute, please let me know in a PM. Do not include it as part of an additional donation, I will give you my paypal email for you to gift it separately, so we don't get anything mixed up for records. ^_^

Ordered black matte steel.
Will probably get more when I'm feeling richer. How long will this be going on for?

Hey I have money now but I can't find my invoice. I got buried in my paypal and I can't find it anywhere.
If someone could let me know how I can pull up unpaid stuff or something that would be cool otherwise I guess I need a new invoice. xD

I have two outstanding invoices that are in production that need to be paid. Please keep in mind if you don't pay for these it comes out of my pocket, both for the caps and the donations.

Also, this is the last week to order!! Orders close on Tuesday!

Hi everyone, sorry for the delay in updates. I had emergency abdominal surgery followed with a nasty sinus infection that spread into my ENT and lungs. There is a new pending shipment date of December 4th for the replacement order. Fingers crossed and will let everyone know when they are at my home!

Aarrrgghh!

I hope that everything is working itself out.

Don't worry about keyboards until you feel at least 80%-90% and maybe wait some more after that.

Why is it whenever people go silent when they have other people's money, the reason is always "I was in the hospital for $Something_Horrible. There's a delay!" I'm not saying there's funny business going on here, but it's ... a pattern.

Because that's kind of the only reason to go silent on here.  Other delays don't cause silence like being in a hospital does.  And then people notice this and think something's up whenever it happens.  But really we just forget about all the buys that go smoothly, and only remember the ones with issues.  I'm not accusing you of complaining or anything, I just think it's a (fairly) logical explanation.

Hi everyone! Keycaps are here (and my order from Sprit, same day!)! Nothing is broken! I will be painting this week and next week. Anticipating getting everything out by mid-late January.

If anyone has questions about what has been going on in my personal life, I'm open to answering questionsi. I am going to be moving again in February amongst the chaos, so I will be doing my absolute best to get these out before then. I have to go out of town the first week of January for family stuff, but it should only be for a few days.

Cher

Hi guys, just wanted to give you an update. I am in the process of painting the plastic keys, and I am hoping to start mailing them out before I move again in 2 weeks. The metal keycaps upon inspection had stems that had been printed improperly, so unfortunately I had to reorder them with a new design. I won't have them back before I move, but finishing those for rust prevention will not take long. Barring that this next set has a problem, too, we are looking at late February delivery for metals and early for plastics (possibly in January, I will TRY MY BEST). I will be mailing in order of the orders placed.

To a new start and the purchase of ACRYLIC materials.

I just had a conversation with Cher via Twitter DMs, and this is project not dead, just stalled.

When she moved recently, the boxes in her basement were accidentally left behind by the movers and she has to repurchase all her art supplies. She said she really needs to find a balance for her life before she can even repurchase art supplies. Luckily, she still has the unfinished keycaps, because they were in another room when the movers came. When she has the supplies to paint the caps, she will let everyone know. Until then, she says she has no new updates.

Unfortunately, she also lost all her keyboards in the same incident. As you may imagine, that has made her quite reluctant to come around here.

So, patience. This will eventually work itself out.

Yes, that is something I am discussing with her. She isn't fully unpacked from her move yet, but she has something coming up next month that hopefully will allow her to get these sent out unfinished in July. Whether to the purchasers directly, or to someone else for finishing and/or distribution.

Got to love how just about every project with smallfry's name to it has turned into a cluster****.  This is why I hate when people do buys or projects or anything with the memory of someone attached to it.  We have a great guy whose memory is being associated with bull**** instead of remembered for the good person he was.

Anyone have any idea about how many people took part in the buy or how many were purchased?

I DM'd Cher on twitter a few weeks ago, and she said she would ship the keys to me. But I haven't heard anything else from her, nor seen the keys since then. It's really very annoying when you volunteer to help someone, and they can't be arsed to even put the tiniest bit of effort toward making things right.

She is @cherlequin on twitter, if anyone else wants to try.

Update:

TechKeys // i3oilermaker is helping me out to send these out. I moved again last month so I don't have them on hand, and the moving company will not give me a date of when my items will be delivered, so I'm not sure when I will get them over to TechKeys for processing. They said 'unofficially' my stuff was loaded two days ago.

Explanation:

A lot of you saw on Twitter after my move to California I got a job at Blizzard and essentially mentally blocked out most things for the better part of a year.

Keep in mind you have no idea what somebody may be dealing with. I knew I couldn't handle being demonized over all of this, so I just stayed away. I lost my keyboards, too. This was a dark pit I couldn't enter.

When I started this project I was in a great place. I loved my job, had a house, felt useful and was chipping away at my issues from my past that I've shared with a couple of people. Then I made a horrible mistake that bled all over my life to try to work things out with the father of my child, leaving the job, house and independent security I was working on. Since my life was built on a shaky foundation that I won't get into - I fell apart. I lost everything and the man kicked me out leaving me with essentially nothing, but mostly my dignity and self-worth.

I moved to California to get my **** together without affecting my child's development. I had to ignore a lot of things in order to focus on the prior 30 years of damage that I had blocked out and ran from. It was much harder than I thought it was going to be and took longer than I anticipated as well. What you saw on social media was me hiding that damage from my online persona and trying to stay relevant.

During the spring someone reached out to help and I agreed, but I couldn't even bring myself to look for the keys in all of my unpacked boxes. I just didn't know where to start.

One day everything clicked for me. I don't know what it was, but things have changed. I can handle stress and jerks alike and I'm working on making things right here. A few weeks later i3oilermaker reached out to help get this finished and I will be working with him in the mean time. I would like to paint the keys, but I know I don't have the time and I'd have to find all the supplies and everything again. I'm sending the one painted keycap to i3oilermaker with the caps/information sheet.

For those who reached out on Skype, I wasn't ignoring you. I'm not sure why it showed me online as I haven't been on it in close to a year... maybe more. Like I said, the mistake I made bled all over my life, not just over this project.

I am not asking for forgiveness, or your trust, I'm working on other stuff right now to keep on track, namely just mom-stuff. However, I do apologize for how you all were affected by the choices I made that led up to stuff.

@ pas008:
I checked my shapeways history and I did order your Lions key in October 2014 and a starman on 9/11/2014, so those should be in the same box as the SmallFry caps.

Others:
There are also a few other keycaps in my orders, but outside of the SmallFry caps, I've kept terrible records, so I'm not sure to whom they should go to. Once the movers deliver my stuff and I can go through the keys, I will post here photos of the keys I have so they can get to whom they were supposed to go.
