Title: AppleDesign Keyboard Caps
Post by: soer9459 on Mon, 31 August 2020, 17:26:47
Hi there

it might be possible for me to buy an AppleDesign Keyboard, but it's only interesting for me if the caps are Alps compatible.
As far as i can read, some AppleDesign boards are, and some aren't. Is there any way to tell? Are all the caps compatible, or only some?

Thank you  :)

There is useful info in Deskthority's Wiki (https://deskthority.net/wiki/AppleDesign_Keyboard#Alps_dome_with_slider).

The stabilised keys are not compatible with Alps or Costar stabilisers.

You should be able to identify them by them being marked as being made in the Czech republic (PBT keycaps) or Mexico (ABS keycaps).
If made in an Asian country, has 1u Option keys or a curved backplane, it is another variant.
