HTPC Keyboard and Mouse Tray
« on: Fri, 29 July 2011, 17:23:10 »
After looking for a better way to play games on my home theater PC than having a keyboard on my lap and my mouse on a cushion, I decided to create my own keyboard and mouse tray.  I purchased a used Data911 mechanical keyboard and framed out the tray with angle aluminum and used plexi for the bottom.  If there is interest in this project I will create a work log.

Good work! Do you still have the tray in your lap? :)

Heh yeah, the keyboard tray still sits on the lap.  The keyboard wasn't the problem, it was the mouse running over the cushion that was terrible.  I tried using a box with a mousepad on it but it didn't work out that well.  I also tried to find a nice sturdy pad but everything I tried was still bendy.

Funny thing.  I just set my main gaming system as a hybrid htcp/gaming box in the living room.  It's been a pain to get the mouse to work, but your tray looks good.  Do you have schematics you can share.
