GMK Seafarer

"Master of the seven seas"

Inspiration

The original colorway was inspired by the uniforms of our Navy sailors on the high seas, and with novelties inspired by sailing and navigation.

Why?

I love minimal sets, LOVE blue, and have always been fascinated with
everything about sailing and the sea but could not really find a nice set
that would fit my requirements, so here we are.

Edit: It looks like you're missing a second 2.25u Shift in the base kit (there's a 2u instead). You might want to fix this if you're going for comprehensive coverage. Also — and this is optional — 1c keys would be a nice addition to the spacebars kit.

Edit2: If it helps, you can probably drop 00 from the base kit.

It is a 2.25u shift, just the render is incorrect, i'll look into it.

- I like iso support

- can one of the backslashes be removed?
- add 2nd 'b' in base kit?

There is no need to add a second B to the base kit. Do people even stop to look before they ask this, lol? All of the spacekeys required for Alice layouts are in the spacebars kit, so that's where the B should stay. (If you're looking to use the set on an Alice board without getting the spacebars kit, you can use numpad 0 together with Shift keys, as per usual.)

Including the second B in base only truly makes sense when spacekeys are offered in two different child kits (e.g. spacebars and 40s). In that case, having the key in base allows buyers to choose which of the two kits they want to get. On the other hand, when there is only a single kit containing spacekeys, there is no such benefit to having B in base, and the pricing difference that it makes to the spacebars kit isn't at all significant from what I've seen.

Hey, really love that Set, you could say love at first sight. :thumb: Already setting up a board to build this set with.

Just one thing I was wandering about. In row R3, the second caps lock Key with the arrow up. Feels like it does not fit right in with the aesthetics of the other modifiers.
I was thinking about going with the "control" lettering from the bottom row (R4). Leaning more to the HHKB aesthetics caps lock replacement.

The renders of RAMA U80 by RAMA looks so clean. For met, this is because the white look much more „white“. I‘m not a bing fan of the creamy white, which you picked. I would love to see a clean white in this set.

Not OP, but at this point GMK sets should be expected to ship no earlier than 12 months after the completion of the group buy, at the earliest.

The new renders look really nice, but the "navy" color is looking more like a dark indigo with grey hues, when compared to the navy in the Iron 165 renders. So I'm confused which renders best represents the final color you're going for.

I see in too much shades of violets in the later renders. There are some discrepancies between the blues in different renders. Plus RAL 5003 is a lot darker irl.
I wont advice you to use different screens to verify the colors.

Btw, overall, really good job on the new renders. Looks dope :thumb:

I like the novelties, but notice that specifically the anchor and wheel appear to be much more bolder and overpowering than the other novelty designs, IMO because they do not have lighter-stroked details.

Would it be possible to try these same designs just a little thinner?

The deskmats have a rubber bottom, cloth top, 900mmx400mm. Those are the specs i know off the top of my head, I'll find out thickness asap It will be 4mm thick. Thanks for bringing this up, i'll update the main thread
