[IC] STONK65 - Top& Oring Mount WKL Keyboard--- Typing Demo updated
« on: Sun, 25 September 2022, 11:19:18 »
Hi everyone, this is my first project---"STONK65".

The name is picked by the theme of "STONK".
There are anime and K-pop keyboard in this community but no "meme" keyboard so far.
I choose "STONK" because of the popularity and also can represent how crazy the aftermarket is.

Any info on the PCB? The layout image shows no option for split backspace or stepped caps but the plate looks like it supports both.

Limiting GB quantities is usually a matter of logistics. You gotta remember that most of these are run by one dude(tte). Even with 100 units, you’d probably be dealing with 115-130 units since you need to order extras (hence the name) in order to assure that those who supported the GB get boards of exceptional quality.
Plus, again, that’s 115-130 cases and just as many (though often much more) plates and PCBs as well. In theory my living room could handle that, but everyone else around me would hate me.

Outside of raw storage space, each individual order needs its case, plate(s), and pcb(s) inspected. In most cases I’d expect the PCBs to be flashed with working firmware before they’re shipped, so you need to flash 100+ PCBs AS WELL AS individually test every individual switch with tweezers to make sure the thing works. Shipping can do terrible things to PCBs. After all that’s done, you have to package it with the various little components and tools needed to assemble it, make a shipping label, make sure you put the shipping label on the right order, and ship it. Just repeat that 99 more times.

Once the orders have been sent out, you still has to keep the remaining parts because someone’s package is going to be treated like a soccer ball (thanks FedEx), or their PCB will die, or it never arrived, or the part was faulty and didn’t wear well. Less boards is less trouble.
If it ain't broke, fix it 'till it is
