Woo hello!
« on: Fri, 19 October 2012, 20:57:24 »
Hi everyone!

I have a Datadesk Trackboard; as far as I know it's got simplified white alps and I like it but it's activation force is a bit much for my typing style and I often feel like I'm making more mistakes because I get lazy.  I was hoping I could find a model m or another keyboard to try out and start feeling different keyswitches, and I have an offer for a Focus 2001 board that hopefully has blue alps, I have to wait and see.

Anyway, it's a pleasure to find a forum dedicated to keyboards!  I love mine, even though its not the top of the line switch it's rather rare and special, and way better than mushy rubber domes, I don't think that i could ever go back to those... I found it for about 5 dollars at a thrift store and it's in great condition.

Ideally I want something split or ergonomic like the kinesis advantage, but I'll work my way up to that (costs too much for me right now)

Excited to be here!

Welcome to Geekhack!

Sounds like a nice keyboard - a great find, at any rate :)
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Thank you all!  Very happy to see such a warm welcome!

By the way... is there something about not posting about nickel-based key activation tests?  I've seen someone mention that on another forum...couldn't tell if he was being sarcastic or what...
