Anybody down for an impromptu beer swap saturday? Seeing lots of people travelling from all over, so it makes sense to me ;D

I'll try and grab a few local NC beers for the pile.  :thumb:

edit: Actually, are we allowed to have beer on campus? maybe we can have a lunch break/beer tasting in the parking deck  :))

Villanova isn't a dry campus but we should check with our host before we bring beer into the classrooms!

Yeah we can just awkwardly be exchanging beer in the parking lot  :p

Bring your beer with you, I'd just be wary of opening it in the classrooms.

Anyone bringing a board with pandas or kailh box switches? I've been wanting to try both.

Is there any other kind of schedule yet, other then it opens around 11? Such as raffle drawing is at <time>, presentation <something> will be at <time> etc?

Think I'm going to join! Coming up from the DC area.

* Will there be handtrucks available? I'm bringing a bit of stuff in a large bin so it'd be nice to easily transport it from my car to whatever building/room.

If there's anything from the PA area you're looking for. I'll have a look.

I don't drink but I'll bring some Wisconsin beers if anyone is interested. I'll have a designated swapee to receive my beers :D

I'm coming from the Baltimore area (MD). PM me if you want Edgar Allen Poe-themed beer or something else from the area!

Unfortunately i don't have any stuff like this to to offer.  If you have an especially large load, you can enter main campus through the gate immediately behind Bartley hall (please see the map on the Building and locations thread) and temporarily park right behind the building while unloading.  Just tell the guard you are here for an event in Bartley and are parking only to unload, and they should tell you where to park and enter the building.  The building does have elevators for going up to the rooms.

So I posted a loose schedule over in the presentations thread, but here's a guess at how events are going to go overall:

Setup 10-11AM - come if you have to set stuff up, or if you want to help others do the same
Doors open at 11AM
11AM-1PM people arriving, setting up their boards and such
1PM-5 or 6 PM (Depends on how things move) presentations and demos, GeekHack-A-Thon event
5 or 6PM - raffle drawings
6-8PM - hanging out, planning for dinner/drinks

Please let me know if you have any suggestions.

Had such a great time!  Was great to meet many of you and try out all the cool boards.

Everyone was really cool. Glad to put names to faces.

The varmilo board I won is unironically nice, too. Stabs were pre-lubed so they're super quiet.

Again, awesome to meet everyone in real life, felt really welcomed. Been drifting away from the hobby the past few months, and this definitely pulled me back in (for better or for worse :P) Big shoutout to Att1cus for hosting us, it was a perfect spot and definitely heightened the experience for everyone. Also thanks to Varmillo to my awesome new keyboard, absolutely digging it.

Agreed, trying the F62 really sold me on it. Plus a buckling spring 60 is just damn awesome.

Great to meet many of you Saturday. As a relative noob in this hobby, I felt really welcomed. And so many great boards to see/try.

  • Ellipse's F77/F62 boards were one of the highlights for me as well.
  • 1up Stef's daily driver with lubed Gatistotles was really eye-opening.
  • JB1830's 150g carbon fiber TKL with Terminal was awe-inspiring.
  • The artisans showing up was very cool!

You cant get much closer to NJ than eastern PA!
Considering some of the participants drove up to 12 hours to get there.

I suggest keeping track of the reddit/r/mechanicalkeyboards "meetup" thread at the top of their list. That seems to be a great place to find your local gatherings.

I hope they don't mind if I put some different keycaps on them. So, the build quality is very, very nice. The stabilized keys honestly have the best feel on the whole board. Stock cherry browns are stock cherry browns (wish I could lube them, but alas no cutouts, as expected). My biggest gripe is the LEDs make GMK sets unable to fully depress. I will probably end up having to file off the front edge of the LEDs due to this. Otherwise, the ability to swap control and caps lock OTG is great. I'm sure I'll really enjoy this board fully once I am removed of my LED problems.

Time to order some 1.8mm to avoid that problem :)

How do you switch caps/control?

I will post pictures today, along with a short review. Like Fendent, I've already switched out the caps, but the stock caps are honestly pretty great either way.

Hold Fn+Left Control for three seconds or so.

Also yeah the stock caps are very nice. Remind me of WhiteFox

Additionally I'd suggest giving instructions on the key combinations like that or how to control the LEDs and whatnot.

Yeah I'm assuming this is just prototype packaging and they haven't finished the instructions yet. Had to figure out backlighting from someone on reddit.
