GFW listed black but did not list gold as potential colors. However there's one sample board that was black and in the image with the colors there's no black but gold instead.

No, they have different footprints on the pcb.

Tis built! Luckily my crappy soldering job seems to work because I plugged it in and it was recognized with all the switches working except the second spacebar which I imagine should work after flashing.

The issue: the website GFW gave me to build the firmware doesn't work so I may have to setup TMK to do it which would be a huge hassle =[

SMD LED soldered onto the bottom of the through hole pads.

Blue doesn't work that well when passing through orange acrylic but it's very visible for the bottom half of the acrylic plate.

I will also consider taking on soldering jobs if there's a decent amount of interest for me to get my own soldering iron (instead of constantly borrowing one) which means I would also have to order switches too for those who want it soldered. Anyway, that's another story.

I got detailed instructions from GFW about creating the firmware without TMK so I'll try that this weekend and hopefully have the GB running next week with payment collection by the 21st of January.

I think there is a typo in the GB thread. I'm 99% sure that you need a normal 6.25u stab for the full sized spacebar - joining the sizes 3 keys that replace it in the 'split' layout makes exactly 6.25u.
