Yeah comparing KBD75 to a LZ board is parallel to D2 college football to NFL.

LZ said on page 1 the GB will start next month and price will probably be $400+ easy  (from speculating the previous 3 LZ GB).

Can't have too much 75% in my life.

And agreed- interested in the non-anodized... could be industrially-sexy!

But wouldn't non-anodized alunimum smell and also turn to some weird color after a while?
I would imagine that LZ's option of letting people have non-anodized parts is so that people can do whatever with the parts (they can anodize in their fav color, etc?).
I don't know, just speculating :D

Hello LZ,

Such a gorgeous board. Very interested in this.
Now the hard question: silver vs black

I'm curious about two things
1. polycarbonate plate. How do you guys like it? I currently have no opinion of it.
2. Raw case.  Looks gorgeous (esp silver) but are people looking to use it raw? What are the cons of using raw alu?

Is there any ETA on when GB will start?

1. Really a personal taste I've heard- but from what I've read, PC plate in general would give you more bouncy feeling/sound like if you were to have an acrylic bottom with aluminum top vs. aluminum top and bottom.

My Unicorn x3 has an acrylic bottom with aluminum top, and it feels different than my LZ-CLS which has aluminum top and bottom.
I found myself enjoying acrylic bottom just a tad more, but that may also be due to it having 65g spring vs. LZ-CLS with 60g.

2. I believe people opting out to get the raw option will be to paint/anodize the parts themselves in their preferences.
Since the GB will include the parts as a kit that can be turned into a final product with switches, etc, offering people a full kit with an option to have them do what they wanna do with the parts would be a nice gesture from LZ.  But I hear the raw aluminum reeks of that weird smell and the color/finish turns weird after a little while.  So you better not keep the aluminum raw!

You're right- the idea here is DIY anodization/ cerakote/ whatever... I was way off on the "industrial look" thought...

The period varies depending on the quantity.
I plan for up to 5 months.

yes, same anodize shop.

Stick with the company that produces the very BEST work when it comes to anodizing.  Here where I live, there is NO anodizing performed because it's now used strictly in highly developed nations (1st World Status).

WE who are stuck in the 3rd World are willing to pay for the best quality and you LZ, have proven that time and time again.  Looking forward to your next Keyboard build  8) .

CLS was a bit difficult because of its large quantity.
I am going to reduce the quantity a little this time.

Softer bottom out, completely clear so you can see pcb, less metallic sound, can be quieter, something different.

Allows for more flex when typing, creates a cushioned or softened bottom out. I personally am not a fan of it for linears and prefer aluminum or steel for those.

Anodizing is hard to get done in small batches like this. You're better off buying the non-andoized version and having it finished locally. I'll probably get mine cerakoted instead of anodized.
