Doubleshot Linux Super Key
« on: Wed, 09 March 2011, 12:37:54 »
Updated

I thought I would try and add some keys for Linux users to the Round 3 doubleshot order. They are white-on-black 1.25 width keys. Meant to replace the 'Windows' or Super key.

GNOME

Derived from: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Gnomelogo.svg

LINUX

Derived from: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Tux.svg

To order, just follow the instructions in Round 3, and use the following Order-IDs:

GNOME
LINUX

Attached are the svg files for these keys, feel free to edit the keys, there is always room for improvement.

Great idea!
I'd take 4.
A tux logo of course, anything else is way too specific.

Just taking a quick look around. Tux might be tough since it is a pretty intricate shape.

Gnome, would probably be the easiest:
http://inkscapestuff.org/CONTENT/content-files/36536-gnome.svg

Debian is probably too thin:
http://www.debian.org/logos/openlogo-nd.svg

A simple Linux Mint could be doable with a little modification:

You had forgotten this:

I would like to use it as a save button for the function row.

Just I'm afraid it is as double-shotable as the Trollface ...

I agree, gnu and tux would not look good. Or it would require an artistic touch to make them look good which I don't have.

What about the gnome or linux mint logos?

If I have time I might take a crack at a tux key, although I am beginning to like the gnome key, it is growing on me.

I'm off for holly days until Sunday 20th March 2011!

The vote-system will work without me. Just send your order lists to me, 7bit_vote.

You will get some statistics from time to time.

Don't ask 7bit or me any questions during that time. We will not answer!

There will be no update of payment status. Anybody should keep track of that themselves! It is sufficient to pay when I'm back again.

For questions, please read the first post in the main thread.

Have a lot of fun ...

ps: gnome key looks great!

The Gnome foot.. ha! No way.

I would like the diamond symbol, if there is going to be a key for it at all. I'd rather use keyboards with 1.5 wide keys and no Windoze keys.

I think you would have to pick which row you would want the key in, I believe each row has a different key profile. You could setup a Order-ID and see how many votes you get.

GNU seemed just to difficult to do given the requirements of a double shot key. ie, small features aren't allowed. If you want to take a crack at the svg, go for it. It seemed too daunting to me.

So, there is no GNU key at the moment unless someone comes up with a compliant svg.

Looks like LINUX will get made,  just need 2 more to reach the $5 each threshold. The GNOME key still needs some help.

Also, anyone have suggestions on how to improve the LINUX key? I am not 100% happy with it, and might take another crack at improving it.

Sure it looks better on a white background, but we can't have that here because it's meant to be printed on a grey key. Just try to reverse black and white again and see how it looks then.

Maybe the arms should go sideways. I will post a pic later.

Maybe we should do 2 versions, one in black on white and one in white on black!
