Hi guys, as we have passed a full year since GB launched and are finally wrapping up, I just wanted to recap and say some words.

Firstly, I'm really sorry it's taken so long. It's been a full year and that's a really long time, even for this hobby. Things don't always go according to plan but ultimately it was because of mistakes made by me on top of covid delays and FedEx refusing to deliver the package to Krelbit.

Second, the colors didn't turn out as advertised. Basically the original colors I picked were way too dark and we decided to completely repick them for a R2 color match. This is when the Falter fiasco happened.

When picking R2 colors I did my best with help from Olivia and Krelbit to match the renders as closely as we could. Unfortunately it's not as purple as some people may have hoped for, and the contrast between the mods and alphas might be a tad bit off if I'm being super picky? I don't actually have a set of my own yet to verify that, but it seems like this set is really hard to photograph.

Falter happened due to, I guess a misunderstanding or miscommunication with GMK where they ended up using the wrong color to create all the alphas, and thus they all had to be remade using the intended color. Big thanks to GMK for working with us on that. I would have been devastated if the wrong alphas were all we had. To clarify, the lighter alphas are the correct ones.

None of these delays would have happened if I didn't make the amateur mistake of choosing colors that would turn out too dark as plastic.

I put in a lot of work to make this set happen so all of these events have been really stressful. All the extra details like the box and slap (thanks to Switchmod for these) was our way of making it extra special and I hope you enjoy that. I'm pretty bummed out things didn't match my original vision, but I think it turned out great in its own way.

To everyone who's helped make it happen anyway, I can't thank you enough for all your support over the past year. I'm hearing lots of nice things about the set so I'm glad people are still enjoying it regardless of it not being my idea of "perfect". And if you don't like it, you have my full blessing to flip it for however much you want to on mechmarket, and also my sincerist apologies for it not living up to your expectations. I'd like to think it wasn't the worst "first gb" attempt ever.

"R1 sample result: plastics far from renders, red OK, render-matched new colors sent to gmk for r2 sample.

While fairly accurate to the source material, we sold you a set based off renders, so we believe that path is much more important to follow than colors on a fig."




Even so most figures have way more contrast than what we received so we are hoping that this next round will bring us closer to the intended vision of being a keycap set.

we received round 2 and are currently deliberating, Switchmod is incredibly busy at the moment with lube orders. This round of samples is looking promising though.

Hey guys I hope you're all well. First of all I do want to apologize, it was due to my inexperience as a designer that this set has been delayed, on top of COVID-19 messing everything up.

But finally, the update you've been waiting for! USPS has been slow AF but Canada Post miraculously delivered the samples on a Sunday.

So basically here's the start to finish of how the sample process has been:

Krelbit received first samples, said the base colors were too dark. I messed up and didn't gauge the lightness correctly vs the renders with the RAL sheets I ordered. Typical amateur mistake with set designing.

In order to not mislead anyone with our advertising we decided to try our best to match with the renders. While I was in NYC, Olivia graciously helped out and lent her RAL book where I repicked the colors.

GMK sent us round 2 samples with the new colors and both Krelbit and I are happy with the blue and the gray we've now chosen. I don't have a calibrated display to confirm the exactness but I am confident that it is very close to what has been advertised. At the end of the day, it reminds me of Salter which is the end goal.

We will give GMK the okay to proceed with production ASAP!

Also currently no pics cuz I'm a god awful photographer.

for extras I will announce them once I get word that GMK has completed production and has shipped them out to vendors. every vendor bought their own set amount of extras which I have 0 information on, as for switchmod we have 2 batches of extras, one are "Sifo" extras which I bought in VERY VERY VERY limited quantity and will be available for pre-order price (TBD). Krelbit has bought extras that he is going to hoard and sell in-person when meetups are a thing again.

Gray for the mods looks a lot more like blue than it does the original gray from the renders. Let's hope that's just the camera not doing it justice.

They gray being a bit cooler than the renders doesn't bother me personally, but that's a preference thing. It's the same reason I'm not a huge fan of classic (original) Dolch. Slightly cooler grays look better on black keyboards, IMHO.

It has come to our attention that GMK Alter is not in the colors intended for it to be.

We have been in contact with GMK and have yet to negotiate a solution.

When we received samples for the blue/purple caps, we chose the cap on the left, the lighter blue that shares about the same contrast level as the gray.



However, we ended up receiving the color on the right & middle, the darker, second sample that GMK had sent to us, despite us giving the code of the bag sent to us and SPECIFICALLY going out of our way to say that we wanted the lighter blue. This frustrates us to an unimaginable degree, and we're sorry we haven't been able to provide more information up until now since we've been waiting on GMK to get a favorable solution to us, they've been doing background analysis and trying to figure out what went wrong and where it went wrong, while trying to get us what we want.

In addition, all spacebar sets are missing a key. Amazing, a real 2-for-1 from GMK this time.

Our energy is fully dedicated to making this right. Our main goal is to have the set's offending colored keycaps remade. My secondary objective barring a remake would be to ship the sets and get a substantial refund from GMK, which I would pass onto you guys. I will see what GMK can offer but at this point I would like to open up a window for refunds and cancellations for all GMK Alter orders, if you don't feel like waiting or dealing with a compromise. Please PM me your order number and name, and I will cancel & refund your order accordingly if you wish to go down this path.

This frustrates us to an unimaginable degree, and we're sorry we haven't been able to provide more information up until now since we've been waiting on GMK to get a favorable solution to us, they've been doing background analysis and trying to figure out what went wrong and where it went wrong, while trying to get us what we want.

In addition, all spacebar sets are missing a key. Amazing, a real 2-for-1 from GMK this time.

Our energy is fully dedicated to making this right. Our main goal is to have the set's offending colored keycaps remade. My secondary objective barring a remake would be to ship the sets and get a substantial refund from GMK, which I would pass onto you guys. I will see what GMK can offer but at this point I would like to open up a window for refunds and cancellations for all GMK Alter orders, if you don't feel like waiting or dealing with a compromise. Please PM me your order number and name, and I will cancel & refund your order accordingly if you wish to go down this path.

GMK has approved of remaking the offending keys. Currently no timeline as they have to source the material for the blue. When production is complete, vendors will ship out sets containing both the wrong and the correct alphas.

Thanks, it's cool, was more worried about the package being dropped off and the post office not scanning it/picking it up. I've had that happen to a couple of things I've mailed out since Covid-19 due to under staffing at my post office.

I still don't have mine so I can't tell until I compare it directly to a sample but so far a lot of pics seem to look weird with the mod to alpha contrast but this looks good. thanks man!

I've definitely seen an unreasonable amount of pictures with the Falter alphas, presumably for the reason you described. But a lot of phone pics makes the gray look way too light and the legends unreadable. But now I'm convinced it's just a lighting thing.

Hi guys, as we have passed a full year since GB launched and are finally wrapping up, I just wanted to recap and say some words.

Firstly, I'm really sorry it's taken so long. It's been a full year and that's a really long time, even for this hobby. Things don't always go according to plan but ultimately it was because of mistakes made by me on top of covid delays and FedEx refusing to deliver the package to Krelbit.

Second, the colors didn't turn out as advertised. Basically the original colors I picked were way too dark and we decided to completely repick them for a R2 color match. This is when the Falter fiasco happened.

When picking R2 colors I did my best with help from Olivia and Krelbit to match the renders as closely as we could. Unfortunately it's not as purple as some people may have hoped for, and the contrast between the mods and alphas might be a tad bit off if I'm being super picky? I don't actually have a set of my own yet to verify that, but it seems like this set is really hard to photograph.

Falter happened due to, I guess a misunderstanding or miscommunication with GMK where they ended up using the wrong color to create all the alphas, and thus they all had to be remade using the intended color. Big thanks to GMK for working with us on that. I would have been devastated if the wrong alphas were all we had. To clarify, the lighter alphas are the correct ones.

None of these delays would have happened if I didn't make the amateur mistake of choosing colors that would turn out too dark as plastic.

I put in a lot of work to make this set happen so all of these events have been really stressful. All the extra details like the box and slap (thanks to Switchmod for these) was our way of making it extra special and I hope you enjoy that. I'm pretty bummed out things didn't match my original vision, but I think it turned out great in its own way.

To everyone who's helped make it happen anyway, I can't thank you enough for all your support over the past year. I'm hearing lots of nice things about the set so I'm glad people are still enjoying it regardless of it not being my idea of "perfect". And if you don't like it, you have my full blessing to flip it for however much you want to on mechmarket, and also my sincerist apologies for it not living up to your expectations. I'd like to think it wasn't the worst "first gb" attempt ever.
