[IC] GMK Flow
« on: Mon, 22 April 2019, 20:49:17 »
Hi,
I'm really bad at writing things about my work, stuff like backstory, inspirations and such are not really my thing, so I'll just get to the point.

This is GMK Flow

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Colors:
GMK Flow uses GMK's WS1 for the alphas, and 2 custom colors, the custom colors might change a bit, but this is the general idea
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Kits:

I want to keep the set as cheap as possible, while still providing compatibility for most layouts.

The first iteration of the kits is similar to what you might have seen on GMK Minimal.

In addition to the Base kit, and the ISO + Num kit, I would also like to add a spacebar kit in the future.

Base Kit

ISO + Num

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Renders:
rama.works M60-A
TGR Alice
idb 60 WKL
ION Xeno
CableCarDesigns Cypher
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Thank you for taking a look at my IC, I hope you like my set. Let me know what you think in the comments, feedback is very welcome.

If there is any interest at all for this, I will be posting a google form to gather feedback.

Looks great! Any chance you'd offer a 40s kit?

Cheap and custom colors don’t mix. Also, ISO compatibly seems at odds.

I’m not saying you shouldn’t do those things, I’m saying that cheap may not actually be first core goal of this project, so maybe move it down the page a bit or omit it entirely.

Maybe you’re just going for a kit with your favorite colors and you also like ISO enters. That’s a fine justification. :)

Yeah, GMK Merlin is very much inspired by Triumph Adler and Nautilus

I'll look into it, I never used a 40% so I don't know how many keys would be required.

First Update:

I think it's not very price efficient to split the numpad and ISO compatibility from the base kit, so I will combine both. I will have a Base set and a spacebars set.
The base set still needs some work

Here is the spacebars kit:

In regards to all of the GMK Merlin comparisons, I think the colors are different enough to warrant a different set.

I like this a lot! Colorway looks just like the Seahawks.

I wouldn't want ISO or Numpad in the base though.

Not to disparage, but the alphas your renders don't feel much like WS1 at all.

I get that they're done with the free render site, just might be worth considering.

That spacebar green is much more vibrant than the green shown in your previous renders. Is that the kind of color you're actually going for?

I agree, this looks more like GR1. I've noticed that some colors on there come out looking like they're in shadow.

The colors I am aiming for are the pantones provided in the OP.

The spacebar kit render is just to give the general idea of what I want in terms of keys. Please don't put to much weight on the color accuracy.

Inspiration and backstory is what separates fantastic projects from good ones, though.

TA but it has some green in it

If you just follow this philosophy nothing ever gets made.

GMK Cyan is GMK TA
GMK Nines is GMK WoB but beige
GMK Minimal is GMK Stormtrooper
GMk Jamon is Ceresia with burgundy
GMK Terminal is Skidata

and so on and so on.

All of the sets above are great, just because things are similar to something else doesn't mean you should discredit them with comments like that

The only recent GB for a keycap set that I remember being completely original was Yolch, oh wait....

Could we get UK-ISO (5 more caps) added to ISO+Numpad? Or maybe a full NorDeUk kit?
