Will you offer the blockers shown in the pictures as an option?
- Fully programmable by TMK
- 6061 aluminum case, 6063 aluminum plate, brass weight
- USB Type C
- Detachable WKL blockers
- North facing or south facing LEDs are all supported by the PCB
Interesting that there are no pitchforks about how similar to black bird this looks. It's just a layout. The sticking aspect of Duck's design is on the case sides, not the layout.
I don't understand why the plate colour is some random colour. Is there an option to have it plain silver or the same colour as the case without paying $28?I too wish this were the case.

is there a way to commit when it hits 50MOQ?
also, do you have the layout for both plates? I'm not so sure how the right split shift will look like? is it 1.75u + 1u?
Where will you be shipping from?

Are the LED holes being centered like was discussed in IC thread?
Any way to know if/when you’re in or change your order?
I’m pretty sure I entered at like 3:30 AM EST but I didn’t get an email or anything, and I’ve thought about it and I’d like to pony up the $28 for “custom colors”

This. Should we PM you for option changes or wait for an email?

The preset colors are the combinations Alsoran likes. He couldn't provide all the combinations apparently. It's just a way to keep this GB simple.
Silver or same color with the case shouldn't add complexity too much. Just Pm me if you need that. I'll update the order info.
If I want the black case with the brass plate instead of the red plate, I have to pay an extra $28 for that combo or do I choose the option of "extra brass plate + PCB"???I think that's meant to be brass weight?

unfinished silver or same as #2 color option?
Are there brass plates? Didn't see an option for it.

Brass plate is only available in the "additional brass plate + PCB" combo.

Is the same workshop that anodized the boards from the TKL GB (see here https://imgur.com/a/bJPfF) doing the anodizing for the AL1? I love the blue on the boards (see second and last pic) so if the number 8 color sample is the same I might want to update my order to go with blue. Not the same blue, I asked in the IC :(

where is the link to that TKL board?
How will the brass (plate and weight) be treated? Is it polished, sealed or just raw?

pcb, you can tell by the cutout shape
What’s up with the order sheet? Why are there a lot of entries with color combinations not listed as one of the five choices (a lot of all gray and all black, etc.) marked as no additional charge, and I am still marked as a preset combination (grey case, red plate) but I am marked as to be charged extra?
I want all black, to clarify, which two people currently are marked as receiving at no additional charge.
Sorry guys. There won't be brass plate option.
I'd like to make some explanations on why we charge for customization of colors and the lack of flexibility of options. In most CNC/anodizing factories in China, they deal with very large orders every day. When they are asked to manufacture only several brass plates, or to anodize one color for only several parts, they not only charge you more, but also treat you with poor manners. Sometime they don't even accept the order. Alsoran will be the one who deal with these problems. He honestly provided all the possible options the factory can provide. He should be rewarded for the extra work he will do.
The current rules/options for this GB were determined by considering the number of orders, price, options, costs of risks. There're always tradeoffs but this is our decision. I hope you can understand.
is there an option to upgrade the plate to brass? rather purchase another set of plate and pcb?
Interesting that there are no pitchforks about how similar to black bird this looks.
In the IC thread, one person checked with the Duck guy and he was OK with this. Apparently he cares more about the case design then the layout itself.

Can we get a picture of both plates? I understand the differences, and take no offence from this, I just want to check everything will fit (no stabiliser wires getting caught like in early KBD75s for example)
You reckon I could get a Raw AL1? I have a local place that could cerakote it for me.
Not so sure about this layout. It's something like one column thinner than a full size, yes?

Does the PCB support holtites?
According to the order form it includes led diffuser. Does this mean I will have to provide my own led’s for the indicator lights? If so what type of led’s do I need?
Edit: disregard, I just saw the email explaining what happened.
Sent you a PM, but I just got an email saying that my paypal invoice was refunded?

I have not gotten a new invoice yet after the first one was refunded, what's up with that?
Is anodizing color #4 more yellow or kind of like a neon green?
Thank you for the update.
I have an invoice and the dollar amount seems high (140 MOQ+US shipping is $340.08 instead $327) I also would like to add something to my order what is the preferred way to communicate PM or email?
edit: if it is currency difference can I request to be billed in the foreign currency visa has better exchange rates than paypal :P
submitted my order few days ago.
edit: if i want to submit a change, should i just send a new form?
Just wondering if it is possible to ship the board to somewhere in China? Or I should go on Taobao to find the GB link?
It is coming along nicely! Any idea what the total weight is?
TriangleLab, did you get any more pictures of the anodizing yet?
Paid! Looking forward to this board.
Just a quick question regarding the Engraving service.
Where would the engraving on the board be exactly?
Are they just stacked on top of each other Those are gonna get scratched
Ah, I thought that would have been done by the CNC guys :DAre they just stacked on top of each other Those are gonna get scratched
I think the typical process is that they get sanded/polished next to eliminate any imperfections, then anodized and dyed.

Anodizing won't be so fast. Normally anodizing is the last process after CNC and bead blasting. I'll keep you updated and post some photos when we get there.
Yeah, there hasn't been any news for a while and I do know that anodization takes a while it shouldn't be this long before an update.
Update on the "super dark blue": The prototype of this color has been delayed. The factory doing this color just resumed manufacturing and has a lot of orders pending. We still plan to provide this color to those who like this color in this round.
Some details: There was actually some problems with the Paypal. Alsoran is using a new account for collecting money. Paypal froze all the funds because the items were not shipped in weeks, which is abnormal by their standard. Alsoran paid the factory to start the manufacturing with his own fund, and wished to get the money after a while. Paypal still decided to keep freezing the funds tho. As a result, Alsoran is borrowing money from friends/family for getting all the cases out of the factory. He could have had fulfilled all the orders even before CNY if he knew this is the solution, as he told me.
I believe they were holding it for 1 month as per his previous posts, that would mean end of Feb they should be unfrozen if not already. Some details: There was actually some problems with the Paypal. Paypal is the worst for these sorts of things *cough*bitcoin*cough*. I hope he can get it worked out. Is there anything that we as GB participants can do or appeal with PayPal so that they release the funds?

How can we opt-in?
I believe they were holding it for 1 month as per his previous posts, that would mean end of Feb they should be unfrozen if not already.
PayPal is the only option in my opinion. As a buyer the protection is what we need, they refunded me on a few occasions where I have been scammed.I believe they were holding it for 1 month as per his previous posts, that would mean end of Feb they should be unfrozen if not already.
It's not unfrozon unfortunately. Paypal is asking Alsoran to ship items out or there will be more restrictions to his account.
Alsoran asked my opinion that is it possible to ask some GB participants' consent on fake shipping, shipping without a tracking number. I told him that can't be an option, especially as he's not a well known guy here. I suggested him to refund everyone and collect money from everyone on shopify. He decided to borrow money and avoid the troubles at last.
Actually most GB runners have the same problem in China. GB runners can't get the money before the boards are shipped. Normally they list the board on Taobao for 1¥ or just the shipping, then ask the participants to transfer the rest, which means not protection at all. However we're running the GB here so we'll follow the rules here. We will not provide an option without buyers protections.
So money has been paid for them to be cut and polished but as of right now we have no money to beadblast/anodize them(because of PayPal), is that correct?
Alsoran is the man! paying everything upfront, much props to him for helping this buy run smoothly. So money has been paid for them to be cut and polished but as of right now we have no money to beadblast/anodize them(because of PayPal), is that correct?
No, I didn't say that. Alsoran should also have the money to do the beadblasting and anodizing. Everything is going well currently.
How many switches am I going to need?
I tried looking through the IC thread and this but don't see any sort of BOM if I plan to assemble it myself.
OR am I being a noob?
buy 85, i think it's 78 keys or so
The PCB has holes for PCB mount switches so you're all good.buy 85, i think it's 78 keys or so
Awesome Thanks.
Looks like I need plate mount switches but doing some reading it looks like I can buy pcb mount and just cut the tabs off if I need to.
This will be my first true build. No stranger to soldering or electronics.
Looking forward to the project. My godspeed XDA is gonna look sweet on this board.

Hi all. AL1 cases are ready for anodizing. This is the last chance you can make change on the colors.
Please check the google form (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1V71rc5GNCnk0WGywkCHPDY5IYWIytWVcXxhc_zBi5AY) for your current selections.
There's also one extra color you can change to. It was supposed to be the dark blue (https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=93258.msg2556349#msg2556349) but unfortunately that factory is not available now for accepting small orders. Alsoran found another factory can do a similar color (https://imgur.com/a/CPw8i). This color is also dark. The interesting thing is it can change color in different light (different color temperature). All the photos are from a same case.
Please DM me if you want to make changes on the color option within two days from now because all the cases will arrive the anodizing factory in two days.
That's a shame, but the new blue is still quite nice. In one of the photos it looks positively purple - is it like that in person? I've already got a purple board that was supposed to be blue :(
Do you have any photos of other colours (specifically the normal blue) as completed boards, or just the new colour?
Is changing to the new case color an option for folks that did one of the color presets?
if we want to the new color will it all be that color or will the case be the new color and the plate be the color from the preset we originally chose?
I assume that the color option #6 is pink in this picture and not rose gold https://i.imgur.com/bwzCxS2.jpg but with the way that it is sitting next to the silver maybe it is rose gold? I just wanted to clarify if possible. Also are we only able to change the case color or case and plate? This is very generous for us to be able to change at all thank you.
I would also like to know as to what components we are able to change -- also if there any crisp pics of the color samples, it'd be nice!
Can someone point me to some information on how to flash this board when it arrives? :)

I'll open source the QMK codes. It should be easy if you have flashed QMK/TMK before. A tutorial will be provided.
is there a list somewhere of everything i will need to build this? This is my first build and i have no idea if i need pcb or plate mount stabilizers and how many of what size.Looking at pictures of the pcb prototype it looks like it takes pcb mount stabs. You’ll need a 7u spacebar stab and 4-6 x 2u stabs depending on the layout you use.
I have all the switches (nice timing from Massdrop) but am I going to need diodes (thinking no since there is a pcb).
would love to see a build BOM if one exists.

I doubt you’ll need diodes since most come presoldered nowadays.

Now to find a place that actually has cherry stabs in stock. :-)
quick update: Alsoran will be flying to the city of the anodizing factory and oversee the manufacturing. I'm surprised because I didn't know he will be off work and on site for the anodizing. Once he arrives the factory, he will stay there until everything is finished. He's expecting to stay there no more than 1 week.Gotta love his commitment, anything else we are waiting for(PCBs, brass parts) after anodising?
any update on how everything is looking so far? Pics would be awesome and SA Carbon is patiently waiting to be mounted on this!
I'm sad I missed out on this, photo's look great!
There will be some leftover parts including plates, PCBs, cases, and so on. These part will be sold FCFC for those who asked here or through private message. For now I can not make confirmation whether or not you will get the parts tho.
Important: : some kits without engravings and assembly service will be shipped from the next weekend. Please PM me if your address has been changed or is not the same with your Paypal address.
The kits with engravings or assembly service will be shipped later.

Update:
There is a little delay for shipping the keyboards out. They are supposed to be shipped out on last Sunday but now the shipping will start from tomorrow.
The reason is the PCB factory soldered the diodes in the wrong direction. Alsoran asked me to solve this problem by changing the QMK codes. However, for the columns of the matrix, we used a 74hc154 decoder chip which only works in one direction. That means changing the code won't make the PCB work. Alsoran decided to manually re-solder the diodes for the PCBs. He's doing it at a speed of 40 min per PCB. Totally 32 international orders will be handled first. Hopefully he can finish the work within one week. Finished/QCed kits will be sent out in several batches in this week. I'm really sorry for the delay.

Glad to see you all caught and fixed this fundamental error. I don't think you could've resolved this through code.
Since you're using a decoder, are you going to publish that code on GitHub?

At least 4 buyers asked for additional brass plates. I'm sorry to say all the brass leftovers are gone. Were there any brass leftovers plates that were successfully transferred to group buy buyers? Just wondering who got and who didn't.
List of leftovers:
- a lot of PCBs
- keyboard cases (with same color plates): Red * 1, Purple * 1,
titanium grey * 1, pink * 1, New dark blue/purple *42- additional aluminum plates:
black * 1,titanium grey * 1, red * 1, purple * 2, New dark blue/purple * 1

There were only 4 brass plate leftovers. Alsoran distributed 3 to Chinese buyers (including Taiwan). And one was kept for himself.
He intended to make some new brass versions but decided not to at least, because his financial status is really bad and he wants to ship the kits asap.

I just asked Alsoran about the shipping progress. Only a part of the orders have been sent out. If you haven't got the tracking number, your order haven't been shipped. I made the firmware for Alsoran using TMK originally. Then it's changed to QMK since QMK is more popular now.
I will release the QMK source codes and PCB files by this weekend.
I got mine in today and I'll tell you I am VERY UNHAPPY.
I got mine in today and I'll tell you I am VERY UNHAPPY. Here are the issues I see just after 5 mins of looking at it
1. Top and bottom anno colors are completely different colors
2. TON of scratches on the bottom that were there BEFORE the anno
3. The bottom anno is just pathetic, it looks part of it was smeared on with fingers, seriously
4. Top anno is not uniform at all, it's a multitude of different colors hues.
I got the new special color if anyone cares so maybe your's will be fine if you got the standard color. I'm still at work but I'll take pics of this when I get home.

Marking your calendar for a sub-par product?
C'mon man, don't play yourself. That finish is unacceptable for a $300 keyboard.
4. A possible solution is to re-anodize all the dark blue cases to this color: https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=93258.msg2556349#msg2556349 This color was the original plan but it wasn't available when he did the ano.
It's a sad day for all of us. As some of you may know, I have another Group Buy has been delayed for months because I don't want to run two GBs at the same time. For this group buy, I helped Alsoran with the PCB and firmware as a friend, and I don't get money from it. This group buy goes with much more problems than I thought. I wouldn't run this GB if I knew this situation. As a GB runner, I've been pushing Alsoran to do everything correct and fast, asking for photos to keep you updated. Unfortunately, there are so many things I can't control. I'm sorry about all the issues.
For now I can see there are at least two major problems. The first is odd's anodizing issues on dark blue case. The second is the dent on vtachkov's case. I asked Alsoran last night (time in China) about the quality issues. He woke up before dawn and answered several of my questions. Here are the summarizations:
1. He hasn't directly answered my question why the dark blue case passed QC. (I will ask again when he wake up again.)
2. The dent on vtachkov's case should be caused by shipping damage. He was supposed to use EVA inner packings but ended up with the current poor packing due to the lack of funds. He will give compensation for the dent.
3. The dark blue cases were anodized in a different factory with other colors. The way they do this color is to sink the case in the ano pool for a really long time. That's the possible reason of the inconsistency. He will talk to the ano factory and give solutions by 04/26 12:00 AM.
4. A possible solution is to re-anodize all the dark blue cases to this color: https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=93258.msg2556349#msg2556349 This color was the original plan but it wasn't available when he did the ano.
5. I have asked him to hold all the rest packages for shipping in the transport proxy company.
Anyone who have received a problematic kit, PM me the detailed descriptions of your issues with photos. Please keep it short and accurate. I'll help you to resolve the problems.
The cost to strip, polish and re-anodise will be expensive.
I talked with Alsoran today. Here's my proposal to him:
1. If all the dark blue cases have issues, they need to be re-ano to the color here (https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=93258.msg2556349#msg2556349) in another ano factory. I need a new estimated shipping date.
2. All the other color cases need to be QC again and packed more carefully. I need a new estimated shipping date.
3. Take photos for every case before shipping.
Alsoran agreed with 2 and 3 and will give the new shipping date estimations tomorrow (time in China). For 1, unfortunately the factory is still not available as before. The dark blue cases can only be re-anodized to the same color but with higher quality.
Alsoran's explanation of the quality issues is that he was overwhelmed for so many colors and so many kits. As I can see, he wasn't in good emotion as well because he borrowed a lot of money for all the orders and hasn't got any money from PayPal. None of them are good reasons tho. He has not idea how the dent came from because even the previous packing shouldn't cause such dents. He suspect that was caused by customs inspection.
For those who have received the kit.
Again, please PM me detailed descriptions and photos if your cases have quality issues. Keep it short and accurate. I haven't received any such PMs currently.
For those who have received a kit without problems, please make a confirmation on PayPal that you received the item as described. I thought PayPal doesn't have this confirmation function/button like on Taobao, but Alsoran said there should be one. Does it? I'm not that familiar with PayPal. Anyway Alsoran needs the money to do the mentioned after-sale service and re-ano. He will talk to PayPal tomorrow and ask them to defroze the money of GOOD received kits.

This is likely the best idea to minimize any additional difficulty in the GB. Thanks for the updates TriangleI talked with Alsoran today. Here's my proposal to him:

If your kit is not in the list, it was returned to the factory for re-ano. All the rest kits except 1 kit will be shipped 17th this month, 3 days later than the previous estimation, because of the unexpected longer vacation. The factory is in the vacation of International Workers' Day and will return to work on Monday.

My order is marked as shipped in PayPal. But it’s not in this list. Has it been shipped or not?
Hoping someone can help me out here.In my experience, I've had at least 1 of the below happen with multi key presses:
Purchased an AL1 kit on /r/mm, when testing/building it the the "9", "O", "L", and "." keys all dont register. They all quickly register the keys in the row around them, but not the key itself. This is my first time building a board on my own, and havent seen this sort of issue before.
Hoping someone is able to provide some info on if its fixable, or if a new PCB is needed.
Thanks

1. Screw in stabs, you should always insulate the screws.
2. The atmel chip pins are bridged, on the chip itself where it's soldered to the PCB, this is rare and happened on a very cheap PCB of mine.
3. Incorrectly programmed.
Also note, every PCB was manually desoldered due to a manufacturing fault and re soldered. There is a possible connection.

I'm very disappointed about my friend Alsoran. I didn't want to say it because I'm the GB runner and it looks like I'm shifting responsibility. However, the truth is I did everything I can to push him doing everything right but he broke his words again and again. Here are some facts to make it transparent to everyone:
- I asked Alsoran to take photos for every case before shipping. He promised but failed to do it for no reasons. That's why some buyers got a tracking number but didn't find the photos. Alsoran told me this after he sent 15 kits out before asking me.
- Alsoran do all the QC. I'm not able to do it because I'm not locally close to him. I emphasized many times that he should do the QC carefully.
- I viewed all the photos Alsoran sent to me. I found the defects on Oatburner's case and told Alsoran. I didn't notice the possible dent on LightningXI's.
- I asked him today again how exactly he did the QC. He said: I TAKE A GLANCE ON THE FRONT SIDE AND THE BOTTOM SIDE AND DON't CHECK CAREFULLY. (WTF???)
Alsoran promised to provide after-sale service to everyone but his words are not that trustworthy to me any more. If you receive a perfect boards, that's fine (I really hope that's the case). If you receive a defect board, I will help you no matter what you want (issues a dispute, ask for a replacement, ask for a refund). I'm not able to refund you directly because Alsoran get all the money. To those who haven't got tracking numbers, hope my words can help you for your decisions, it's still in the 180 days buyer protection.
I'm really sorry for all the issues. I helped Alsoran with the PCB/firmware and run the GB for him for almost no return. All I wanted was to help a friend and make things happen. What I get now is frustration and depression. No matter how regretful I am, what's done is done. I will do my best to help the buyers.

So I tried using nylon washers and not having stabs in at all, and I still get the same result, those keys register multiples.
Anyone have ideas of what the next thing to try is? Im pretty new to this whole thing, so no clue if I need to get a new PCB, or if there are other avenues to take.
Thanks all

ytachkov, did you build or test your PCB?
So at this point, I was one of the new color people.
I opted to switch to all black, however at this point I am wondering if I shoul djust say eff it and take what I get and deal with re-ano locally to me or go with a powder coated option.
I am concerned at this point that this will fall apart and I won't get anything which would be an issue for me (well for my wife, but thats another story)
Aside from QC issues, is there a chance I may not get anything at all now?
I would suggest checking the programming is correct. Don't have my board yet so I can't much help you on it.Tape will do just fine. A cleaner solution would be some nylon, m2 washers.

There are stains on the weight surface. These are not erased.
It is entirely satisfactory except for this issue.
The pcb does not seem to be equipped with leds for the indicators. Does anyone know what type of led’s should be used for those?2x3x4 or 1.8mm should work. Pretty much whatever fits in the slot.
Well in some sad news, I managed to reflash the board and still get the issue of keys registering as multiples, "O" registers as "QWERTY" and "9" registers as "123456".
So my only assumption at this point is a bad PCB, unless anyone else has other ideas to try? Hopefully no one else has the issue.
Thanks

My keyboard has arrived and I will post pictures up when I get a minute. What is the weight?
Initial Impressions
- The box was beat up when it arrived and I was worried that my keyboard would be damaged. The packing was "sufficiently" to keep it safe.
- There are some minor machining imperfections that seem to be pre-anno. It doesn't bother me because they are only noticeable if I have it 6 in from my face. I'm never gonna notice typing on it.
- The spare parts were taped to the plate, which left goo residue. The tape was so strong that I would have 100% confidence they weren't going anywhere but it'd be nice if it didn't need a cleaning
- All the parts fit great, not perfect but very good i.e. no warping, bad tolerances, etc.
- My pcb has a scratch on it reveling the copper, I could imagine it'll start to corrode after a long period of time. When that happens, I'll just design my own.
- The PCB has many options and fit my Zealio switches and Zeal R11 Stabilizers great
- All the screws attached WERE nicely snug and NOT over torqued.
- Keyboard came with extra rubber feet & allen key
- Keyboard heavier than expected (good thing)
Overall, I'm impressed and very happy. Probably because this is my first custom keyboard but I think the price was low and the quality was ~"A-".
I work with small volume production on the daily and all the small niggles that have been showing up suck but I know it could have been much worse.
My keyboard has arrived and I will post pictures up when I get a minute.
Initial Impressions
- The box was beat up when it arrived and I was worried that my keyboard would be damaged. The packing was "sufficiently" to keep it safe.

So for me, is that the way to go about getting a new PCB? With mine having issues registering certain keys, that seems like the only way, unless I can get one from the runners of the group buy?My keyboard has arrived and I will post pictures up when I get a minute.

Fortunately for you, the PCB file is open-sourced in the OP (first post of the thread)! :)

One gripe
I ordered the plate that was split right shift and backspace only (“BS and right shift are all split only. No compatible slots.”), but not only does it support 2u backspace it actually does not support split backspace. It is always irritating to have to cut the plate myself so I am disappointed this seems to have been overlooked.

What does it look like? Can we get a pic to see what's going on?
I just asked alsoran about the type 2 plates. The picture he sent to me for confirmation was correct, but he made them wrong in the manufacturing.
I have asked him to order 6 more split-BS plates for those who ordered type 2 plates. They will be finished around next Wednesday. Don't assemble your kit if you are not in a hurry.
Apparently this GB has become a disaster with all the quality issues, mistakes, and delays. I do my best to save it.
Please feel free to contact me if your kit has any problems.
I finallygot a tracking number, shipper is other... I am not sure where I can check its stautsDHL was used I believe.
Shipping from Taiwan?

Without any devalue it would be at least £60. Assuming it is the AL1, I have too many things coming.
So my Taiwanese package arrived today. It was indeed the AL1.
Packaging was pretty bad, when the driver brought it I thought how is there a keyboard in this thin box. When I opened it the board was filthy, marks and dust etc, there was even a cobweb in the stiletto side bit.
After a clean-up I am pretty happy with how it turned out, my only flaws seem to be on the inside. The weight is a mess and oddly the underside of it is clean aside from the machining marks. All the visible exterior pieces seem ok but not flawless, passable for the price.

Quick update:
Alsoran just shipped 5 kits (/u/homerowco, /u/terrymathews, /u/IIBorNotIIB, /u/Soggy_Stargazer, /u/speaktobrett). The photos (https://imgur.com/a/lKzLzYy) look good to me. He will fill in the tracking numbers tomorrow.
There are totally 10 kits left including the replacement ones: Petch, /u/immaterium, odd, Oatburner, FeelHoodMuzik, noricon, MegalaDump, A10J12. These 10 kits, following replacement kits, and the 6 type 2 plates, are manufactured by ALF. The original factory did a bad work and was not cooperative so Alsoran asked ALF for help. I assume ALF will be much more reliable than the previous factory. 6 of the 10 kits have already been finished by ALF and are waiting to be shipped. ALF will ship the 6 kits to Alsoran for QC tomorrow. The left 4 kits need more time to be manufactured. I will have the name list of the 6 kits tomorrow.
I just travelled from the US to Shanghai, China this week. Was being pretty busy. Sorry for the late update.
If the kits you received have quality issues, please send me a PM. Don't send emails to me because I can't access gmail currently in China. You can also send photos to Alsoran (508881408@qq.com). He can't read English tho.

Is there a way to 'fix' the blemished weights? You could try using a brass polish and seeing how that goes.

Hi,
My name is not on there.

Will the fixed option 2 plates ship after these?
I have two unread messages on Geekhack but I can't read them right now.Geekhack was not working at all for me yesterday, sound like it's having temporary problems.
When I click "messages", it says "Database Error. Please try again. If you come back to this error screen, report the error to an administrator."
Anyone know what's the problem?
PMs were from me. Let me know if you want me to communicate with you in another way.I also sent a PM

Thanks!

I'm sure this is mentioned somewhere, but I can't seem to find it: how do you put the keyboard into flashing mode for using DFU programmer?
The manufacturer forgot to put a reset key in the default layout, they also omitted a physical reset key.
So the only way to do that is to short the pins on the atmega32u4....sigh.

There are two pins between G and H keys. Using tweezers to short these two pins is the correct way.

Thank you both for the info. I've never reset a board with like this before - so I just have the pins connected with a tweezer (or something else metal) when I turn on the PCB?
I'm sure this is a long shot but are there any extras available for this? I completely missed out but would like to pick a board up in this style.terrymathews is selling his on reddit

So does anyone know how to enable the caps, scroll, and num LEDs? Im at a loss, as to how to enable them.
Lol I've been trying, not so experienced with QMK but will get there. So does anyone know how to enable the caps, scroll, and num LEDs? Im at a loss, as to how to enable them.

The keyboard should already support QMK by default. Looks like the pull request is good to go, https://github.com/qmk/qmk_firmware/pull/3049. It just needs to be merged into master. You could also just check out the original repo trianglelab made and copy it to your qmk directory.

Hmm, im guessing he enabled them via QMK, I havent looked in the last few days on how to do it, will try to look again this weekend most likely. Hopefully I can find something that enables them in the build.
Yeah I have them soldered in correctly, it just doesn't seem like they're active anywhere. Like nothing is sending the signal to them to turn on. Same thing with 2 PCBs, and apparently others have had the same issue with the build. No luck on my end regarding getting the Print Num and Caps LEDs to work.

All 3 leds worked out of the box for me. Be sure to solder the third one the other way around as the first two. The third one has the pins flipped.
Third one is for scroll lock by default.
Anyone had any issues with their builds?
I am having trouble where I press a key such as "Q", and the keypress comes out as "qwerty".
I will press "1", and the keypress will appear as "12345".
I am wondering whether something may be shorting out?
I do have washers inbetween my screw in stabs though...

I had the exact same thing except down the 9,O,L,.,RALT line.
Still no clue if I caused it or if the PCB was busted from the beginning, but I had to get a replacement PCB which now works fine. You can try what I did, specifically re-flashing the board, cleaning the PCB to make sure there isnt anything causing it to short as well. Probably want to contact Triangle Lab to go further than that.
has anyone gotten a PCB that 100% works? I have 3 PCB's and all 3 have something wrong with them. Here are the issues I have
PCB 1. All keys work except the keypad 1 and 5. Typing those keys spit out random gibberish like there is a bridge on the controller pin or something. I have verified there are no bridges or anything with the controller or the traces to those keys.
PCB 2. Only about a third of the keys work on the left side of the board, none of the key register on the right side except the bottom arrow keys.
PCB 3. again about a third or less of the keys work on the whole PCB. I have not mapped them out yet but plan to do so.
On all 3 PCB's I can see nothing wrong with the chips, all traces look fine. I did notice that 1 of the boards (a replacement) has different diodes then the other 2 so I don't think it's them. All LED's work on all 3 boards from what i can tell. I am wondering if any QA was done on these PCB's since there was poor QA on the cases themselves. I have not sent any PM's yet to the GB runners I was hoping someone here has a idea or something. This is so strange I have never had this happen on any previous GB's before and much less all 3 of my PCB's being faulty.
edit:
This is the exact behavior my PCB's are doingAnyone had any issues with their builds?

Hi Petch, your kit was shipped to the DHL proxy last week. They should have already generated the tracking number but haven't updated to Alsoran as it's the Dragon Boad Festival Holiday in China. You will find the tracking number on Paypal tomorrow.

As far as I know, your kits (among the last 5 kits) are still holding by the Chinese DHL proxy. Alsoran was supposed to provide them with your addresses on Monday or Tuesday so they can generate the tracking numbers. He returned to his hometown this week and wasn't able to provide the info. He just said he can fill in the tracking numbers tomorrow.
I really hate to tell you the shipping is delayed for some reasons. I was merely reporting what Alsoran said but he was not irresponsible for his words sometimes. I hope he can answer your questions by himself so I won't be so embarrassed. However, he can't speak English, which is the reason he asked me to run the GB for him. I'm sorry for the troubles.
Hi Triangle,
I received my AL1 today and am very disappointed in how it was shipped. There is a large gash on the top frame. The brass weight was not screwed in place nor taped down, which ended up bending the plate. It seems like the screws for the weight were thrown in with the case and were not bagged. The silver WKL blockers are also missing.
Please see the PM I sent you regarding this.

How can we reflash the default firmware (since there's no RESET key), bridge some pins?
How can we reflash the default firmware (since there's no RESET key), bridge some pins?
so im building my board and it works perfectly other than the fact that the arrows and 1,2,3,0,. and enter. on the numpad are moved over by 1 (so left is down is . right is left, 1 is 2, 2 is 3 etc, any idea what the problem is? i was having issues where w, s, and x would press every key on that row, but i fixed that by resoldering the x so the solder didnt touch the led pad, but nothing seems to be making contact with it so idk. thinking it might have something to do with the split shift? bc that doesnt seem to do anything at all.
if anyone could help that would be great
Anyone else have a warped case?
My case is warped from left to right so that the lower left corner and upper right corner are lower than the upperleft and lower right.
It causes the case to rock.
Top and bottom are warped in the same direction.
Anyone else have a warped case?Mime also rocks. Sent a message to trianglelab and never received no reply and time has passed to complain to PayPal.

might be your desk but that's weird
I built the keyboard but it's nonfunctional. Key presses are triggering other keys.Same thing that a few of us had it seems. You may want to PM TriangleLab about this.
When 3 is pressed, 123456 is output.
When 5 is pressed, 123456 is output.
When 0 is pressed, 123456 is output.
When e is pressed, qwerty is output.
When t is pressed, qwerty is output.
I notice that these are following the same tracks down to the chip. There are other keys that output incorrect combinations and I can list them all if that would help. I can't see any damage to the tracks. I've tried re-flashing the board.
I can live with some cosmetic errors with the board, but it's unusable right now. Looking for any help here.

Triangle got back to me yesterday. He explained to me this is all due to solder bridging switch and LED pads. I've made progress and got a good 80% of the board working. Still one corner giving me trouble, but it looks promising.
Has anyone been able to get a response from TriangleLab??
This is really strange... I needed to reflash my al1 and now that I have the FN keys also press one. I had 0 issues for months with this pcb it seems to be software related rather than hardware any ideas?

Could you elaborate more on your problem. What do you mean by "have the FN keys also press one"?

When I press the FN key (either the one by right shift or where right alt would be FN works (I tested with FN reset only so far) but it also outputs 1. I originally though that I programmed wrong and changed the FN1 to FN2 and then it outputs a two as well.... I am a little out of my element with this I hope this is more useful
edit: thanks for the help mechmerlin...
In short he provided a hex for me to flash that is working perfectly. When I try to compile myself from the onilne configurator or via qmk repo It results in the sofware not working. TriangleLab's qmk is very outdated to the point that you cannot even flash it with proper qmk.
I wonder if the issues that people have been having that were thought to be hardeware problems may be firmware problems.
Thanks again mechmerlin

Can you give the configurator another try? It should be working now.

To be honest, i am disappointed with how trianglelab has handled this.
If it is just his qmk file that is the issue, after telling so many people that their soldering is the problem.. then that is poor form.
So that people aren't too confused I'll put up my findings from my point of view.
The following is a commentary on qmk_firmware's version of the TriangleLabs AL1 firmware and not a commentary on the original source contained in their Repo.
The TriangleLabs AL1 firmware was ported as-is to qmk_firmware on GitHub. Minimal work was done to get it to compile and to have it supported by the QMK Configurator. The work can be seen on Pull Request 3330, 3339, and 3357.
This however was incorrect as it led to some issues. TriangleLabs was using the old way of doing function layers instead of calling the MO function. This led to some issues reported by individuals in which pressing the function key did not work as intended. This was experienced mostly by those who built hexes using the command line while using the default keymap, or creating their own by modifying the default keymap.
This was fixed by me in Pull Request 3675
Unfortunately one problem remained and was strictly associated with people who exclusively used the QMK Configurator to create their hex files. The arrows and part of the numpad were in the wrong spaces. This issue can be attributed to me as I was unable to check my work.
This issue was fixed by noroadsleft in Pull Request 3716.
The other issues reported by people in this thread are not related to QMK.
@TriangleLab
Hey are you guys also known as Fox Labs or are affiliated in some way?
Not that it matters to most people at this point, but my AL1 was working fine and all of a sudden died.
Literally was plugged into my computer and all of a sudden disconnected and now I can't get my computer to detect it. I think the PCB must have died.
RIP $450 board. Got to use it for less than 1 year...
This has been by far the most disappointing GB I've ever been a part of.

It should show up as a HID Keyboard Device in the device manager, an easier way to check is Control Panel > All Control Panel Items > Devices and Printers.
PCBs usually don't fail after a year, they will either fail initially (<3 Days) or after 10+ years. Since it happened in November, I'm guessing it was ESD (Static Electricity and a couple other things). When I last glanced at the board, I don't remember seeing supplementary ESD protection.
Good news is that this board is open source, you can always send out this board to a cheap PCB supplier and get another one. PCBWAY (https://www.pcbway.com/) is my go to but people also use OSHPark (https://oshpark.com/) and others.
@Insane_Dawe
what do you mean it disables breathing? Like the lights turn off? Or the lights stay on and are a solid color?
I fixed it!
I reflashed the board and it worked again. Thanks for all your help!

As the code currently compiles, lights are always on, regardless of what the back light setting is set to. I tried the other back light modes and all I could trigger is breathing or always on. My guess is that the pin isn't configured correctly. The board uses a PMOS with a external pull-up, so the pin should be configured either low for on or hi-z for off.
I've been sidetracked with another project, so I haven't had time to dig through the code to see how the pins are configured.

:thumb: I'm glad it was that easy.
Ahh ok, I get it now. The only animation currently set is the breathing animation and on/off. There's nothing "broken", it's just that the other animations have been turned off. I can turn them on later.
EDIT: I guess breathing and on/off are currently the only available options: https://beta.docs.qmk.fm/features/feature_backlight
