a not so small request - artistic 7u spacebars?
« on: Tue, 03 January 2023, 08:34:30 »
I could just easily order blank 7u spacebars in plain single colour without help if I end up deciding to go that way (pimpmykeyboard has dcs/dsa 7u spacebars in a few nice choices for example) but..
my question to forum here is who makes some nicer 7u (rather than the usual 6-or-6.5's) spacebars that is not too heavy on japanese theme (I'm not interested in samurai swords or resin-poured 3d pokemon after all) and not a part of a complete set in some way?

these are just two examples of landscape-related theme that I could not mind liking;

naturally I'm ok spending a bit over $10 for small accent/novelty sets if I have to (such as is the osume example above) but would like not have to pay $30+ for a large 'extras' set simply to toss most of it out of the way tho you know

You're gonna be spending a lot more than 30 dollars if you want an artisan.
One, Two, Three, Four, Five, Six, Seven, Eight, Nine, Ten, Eleven, Twelve, Thirteen, Fourteen, Fifteen, Sixteen, Seventeen, Eighteen, Nineteen, Twenty... Yeah that seems about right.

I’ve never used an artisan space bar, but from everything I’ve heard, they don’t feel nice.

I had the pleasure of trying this 7u artisan spacebar recently: https://thok.design/product/king-of-bling/

Granted, you need a heavier spring in your switch, but with that it felt pretty normal to use.

Sorry it doesn't hit your <$30 price mark.

I think what you're asking for pretty much doesn't exist. Cheap artisan spacebars are almost always 6.25u because that size fits mainstream boards. It's mostly enthusiasts with WKL or HHKB layout using 7u bars, and those same enthusiasts will not use a ****ty aliexpress 6.25u bar no matter how good the printing is.

If you want a cool looking bar, your best bet is to get it as part of a custom dye-sub keycap set, recent examples that come to mind are KAM 80s After Dark, KAT Space Dust and MW Voynich.

I don't think you can afford something for less than 30 dollars, if you want something of good quality, because most are above that price.
