Why is the "IntelliMouse Explorer wireless" unaffordable with like 200-300$? And.. are there any good alternatives to this pretty unique shape (coz large and comfy)?

Why is it priced so high? Because it's been discontinued for ages.

Ok, but the shape was too good to have no successor. Are there any?

There are some contemporary gaming mice that are fairly long and high in dimensions. These include the Cougar Reverger, Razer Deathadder Elite, Roccat Kone EMP, Steelseries Rival 300, and Zowie ZA11. In the non-gaming category, one that comes to mind is the Kensington Pro Fit Full-Size mouse.

Ye, I'm using the Kensington wireless Pro-Fit Full size. It's good by all means (and the price is unbeatable), but still, it could be, for me, larger, and more ergonomical, to be really "great".

For near future, I ogle the Contour Mouse (formerly known as Perfit Mous): ugly as ****, and grossly expensive,
but maybe some relief for my poor RSI paws...

I have been using a MX1000 Laser for many years now. Got two of them when they first came out and both are still going strong.

I've been using a deathadder for the past few years but I absolutely hate the green glowing logo even when it's turned off. Just need a solid minimal look... but I don't like change.

"It turns out that for a decade, whenever Trump wanted to get a loan, or make a deal, he would inflate the value of his real estate. For instance, suggesting that his 11,000-square foot penthouse was a 30,000-square foot penthouse.
And the attorney general of New York knew that Trump's property values were inflated because when it came time to pay taxes, Trump undervalued the very same properties.
It was all part of a very sophisticated real estate practice known as “lying.”

I've been pretty happy with my roccat kone xtd. Weight options, led options, dpi etc all the usual stuff for less than $50 on amazon. Biggest for me is well supported on linux.

Went from a Razer Diamondback (in middle school :p) to a Logitech MX518, to a Zowie EC1-A, to a Logitech G403 because it reminded me of the MX518 shape. Still miss the hell out of the MX518 but the g403 is still pretty nice.

Using a cheap light up wired mouse from a company called perixx.  Allows me to change the dpi on the go and have never had a problem with it.

Is there any mouse that just feels amazing, like the 'mechanical keyboard of the mouse world' or something?

the keyboard and mouse markets are a fairly similar thing i'd say. keyboards come in a huge variety of sizes, layouts, keycaps, features.. just like mice come in a huge variety of shapes, buttons, textures, features..

with regards to legendary pieces, i suppose the closest it gets to stuff like IBM beam spring, IBM model F, hall effect keyboards, etc, there are the microsoft (mlt04) mice, specifically the intellimouse explorer 3.0, and the logitech MX500.
they were the first mice with good optical sensors, and little compromise was made with regards to build quality. proper effort was put into the materials, design, etc.
this generation of optical mice completely crushed all earlier mice with ball-tech or earlier optical sensors.

today, i'd say logitech and roccat are held in highest regards when it comes to build quality for mice.
but in the end, it's quite a subjective matter and even the "best mouse" might not work out for you at all. but i suppose that's also the case with keyboards :-)

My Naga Epic 1st gen was the best mouse for me.
I love the 12 thumbs-keys and the five others buttons, every keys was reachable, and more impartant, they was reachable with a small move who don’t affect the mouse position. Fingers move, mouse don’t move.
That’s very important if you don’t want to lose focus because of disruptive motion…

Even on FPS or Moba I miss the thumbs keys. On Data I had 6 spells and my 6 active items binded directly accessible with my mouse. That was so good…

But that’s razer ****. A software update on synergy completely disable all the buttons and my mouse is broken.

Razer have completely destroy my wallet :

Razer Sphex mousepad : Move on the desk, unusable.
Razer Ironclad aluminium mousepad high priced : The surface paint is broken even with a razer mouse, unusable.
Razer Ferox portable speakers : They make strange sounds, crackles, unusable.
Razer Megalodon headphone : Unusable in 7.1, so it’s now a bad 2.0 headphone lol.
Razer Carcarias headphone : The only one items wich are not bad at all, very good headphone for me.
Razer Nostromo keypad : Some ****ing ghosting issue who made it totally unusable. I was playing at CS:GO and with it I was unable to move in front while straffing left/right.

Now I have a G502 wich I don’t love so much :
There is only 2/3 laterals buttons that I can reach easily, 1/2 buttons on the top and the one wich is next to the scroll ring is very hard to reach.

I don’t understand the hype on this mouse. She is comfortable but so imperfect for me…

I want to replace my G13 and my G502 wich a better keypad and a new mouse with 12 thumkeys.
I want try the Elecom Dux MMO Gaming but she seem’s to be bad wich unreachable keys

Now that is a lot of thumb keys!

Hats off to you. After about four for me, I start forgetting what they all do... which cuts down on my efficiency.

Interesting topic for all mouse lovers (I'm not one of them)

Quote
The scope of esporting events has blown up in recent years. The International 2016 tournament drew 17,000 attendees with 5 million watching online. The prize pool of $20 million ($19 million of that crowdfunded through in-game purchases) is a big incentive to gain a competitive edge to win. Contestants are allowed to bring their own peripherals which begs the questions: can you alter a stock gaming mouse to do interesting things?

This god-awful piece of garbage:

It's a 'Gecko Optical Gaming Mouse' from my local Big W (kind of like an Australian Wal-mart). It's a terrible mouse, but it was free (had a gift card) and it's served me well for about six months now. I took it apart and changed out the LEDs for standard pink ones because I couldn't stand the colour-changing RGB crap :P

Wow, that mouse has a lot going on!

And good move on the LEDs imo. I am not a big fan of RGB either.

I tried this and then returned it. It had something to do with noise, or with hard keypresses on buttons or the mouse wheel. Nice shape btw.

Do you have any sources regarding this? I've been trying to track down the performance of the sensor in it, with no luck.

If MS goes with a worse-performing sensor, then they really don't understand their fan base for this mouse

Redmond never cared about the so-called "Fan-Base" because it buys them (shills),  every time they need to sell anything onto the ignorant noobs.

This is a company that never cared about what it produces nor what it sells, due to it's monstrous control of 80+% of PC hardware on this planet.  There is absolutely NO competition from anyone here and that includes poor Apple.

Suspect this is another product that won the hearts of those that first bought it when it was available using a unique sensor that today still alludes them.  I would of bought it even if they put in another MLT04 sensor instead of this office-styled garbage being used.

At least you could use it on GLASS now, according to their spruiking media  :)) .
