More Topre stuff~

Almost done most of the projects I have for Topre:

This is a HiPro TKL built on a 10th Anniversary frame w/ 55g domes. I removed some of the irrelevant LEDs, but kept the nice red LEDs for numlock and caps lock.

Painted the plate white and clear coated it with 2K urethane. Silenced sliders, lubed up. No case dampening.

Top is from a standard 87UB and the bottom is from the 91UG-S, which is a lighter dark grey, just like the 10th anniversary case. Color is exaggerated here.

Also, removed some caps today to show the plate.

This one is 30g silenced (purple) and lubed, numpad too. As an homage to the nissho and other OEM HiPro boards that use light switches. Case dampened with memory foam.

The space bar is PBT. It came from an NMB space invaders keyboard. It really fits spherical profiles well. Of course, I had to modify it to fit on Topre. I used one for my Mira as well.

Lastly, 30g domed my 104UB-DK45S, put it in a 108UG case, and popped the red escape on, case is damped with memory foam too. I really like 30g, but every weight is like a refreshing contrast against the other.

Your last sentence sums up my topre experience.

I have 30g, 45g, and BKE domes and like them all in their own way

And thus, my final Topre project is complete. :)

Nothing fancy, just simple and classy grey and cream caps. I have the red accent keys I could throw onto this, but I actually think it looks perfect without them.

Just added a better looking USB cable to my Realforce. Used scotchloks instead of soldering to splice the wires together. Worked well, and I love this colorscheme so far.

Search back through this thread. Vespersaint took many pics of the set. As for videos, he may have a typing video on YouTube. Just gotta search.

The domes are defo more tactile than all the Pro 2s that I've tried

I'll be doing some typing videos once those BKE reps show up :)

Will use the different weights with stock and maybe purple Topre sliders.
I don't think the weights will make much a difference in sound tho.

Nice, I just sold my black HHKB Pro 1 a0, actually. Didn't fit the aesthetic I was going after ultimately, which is why I bought the Type-S, but it was a nice board.

It's two separate sets, sourcing the ansi enter is incredibly difficult and requires you to find either the pure white set that went out of production years ago, or the EK special edition silent 87u from 2012. Obviously the Japanese set can be gleaned from any random 108uw floating around in Japan.

Ah, I see.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada
