Why aren't these bids alternating between bidders? I thought that this was a "call and response" type of situation.

That list is not showing the autobids, just the "manual" ones.

t***t is using an external tool to send a series of slightly increasing manual bids until he's top bidder.

Set your sniping software. One bidder is slowly driving up the price. Poor technique.

Looking at what was written here and the bidding history.... isn't that one bidder tinlong?

I am guessing he is S*** ($150) from the history.
Nah, I'm the one who bid 125.

So, what is triggering the new bid? If you and I both enter conventional bids, yours higher than mine, it goes straight to the top, showing my highest and then yours just above it. Isn't that right? Or have I missed something?

Snipes go in at the end.

This messes with my understanding of the way bids are handled.

The guy is using a tool to do his bids.

Say the current high bid is showing $150, and it's your bid, which is really $180.

I bid $155. Immediately see message, "you've been outbid at $160" since your autobid kicks in.

I immediately bid $175.  Same message, "outbid @ $180".

I bid $185 and I'm top bidder.

That's what he's doing, but with a tool.  Look at the history with autobids shown:  http://offer.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewBids&item=161198400044&showauto=true

This guy is bidding every two seconds until he's on top.  Doing it in the middle of auction is pointless as you state, but that's what's going on.

Unbelievable.

I find it hard to imagine doing something like this at any time until the last half-minute of the auction. And I would not do it then because my internet connection is poor, and if one of those 10-20 second hiccups happened 9 seconds before the end, well, that is why you should just snipe.

Do people really have the kind of time and energy to waste making endless iterations of manual bids?

$546.78 now, and this "t***t" guy (who appears to maybe be German(?), based on the limited bid history ebay will show) keeps immediately, manually and incrementally, outbidding anyone who bids higher.  Dude, it doesn't matter who's on top midway through the auction, it just matters who's on top at the end.  You're just driving the price up.

Wowzers.  These bids are getting out of control.  Gotta be a record for an Industial M.  If only that board lived up to it's name and could be more industrious...
Wish I had some gif or quote for this space, but I got nothing

It's not.  One a few days older than this (think it had a Sept 7 date?) went for over $800.

This is a special case because of the extremely early date and model number.

You should still be able to get one in the $500+ range if you are patient.

$547 with 3 minutes left, t***t on top...

I'm actually amazed it isn't higher, in the $7's.

...and it held!   No last second snipes!

p.s.2. last 032 sold for 400 or something and one sold for 828 usd.

It was $845 plus shipping.  But it was over a week earlier, and the serial number was ~1/8 of this one.
