    Groupbuy is over

    G'day,

Today I am really happy to present to you guys a project that 27 and I have been working on for the last 4 months.

    _____________________________________________________

This product is a collaboration effort between Mech27 and Invyr.

The goal of this project was to create the smoothest possible factory linear switch. The manufacturer we have chosen for this project has provided samples that (without our tuning) are already smoother than the Gateron equivalent. The switches are made from POM, the standard self lubricating material used in switches, which will ensure a consistent and lasting quality.

Our tuning includes a 67g spring, and additional lubrication on both the slider and housing.  The moulds we are using for both the top and stem will be produced for our order.

For aesthetic purposes we have chosen to make both the top and bottom housings in a ivory white.
    _____________________________________________________

The GB will be ran in parts.

    Part 1
This is the initial buy period where you can get the switches the cheapest. After this period the price will increase mildly ($75 for 110)

    Part 2
The order will be placed with the manufacturer, manufacturing of prototypes will begin, once prototypes are completed they will be tested, if anything needs changing, it will be. Select trusted community members will also receive the prototypes to review and test.

    Part 3
Full scaled production will begin, this is only expected to take a week or two.

    Part 4
Switches will be shipped. <<<< WE HERE BOIS

    Part 5 - Forseable Future
Leftover switches will be available for sale on mech27.com and invyr.com
    _____________________________________________________

    GROUPBUY HERE: https://invyr.com

I am currently based in Australia so shipping costs are based off that. I also will be using proxies for a cheaper cost.  $8 flat rate for United States, Canada and Australia. $15 flat rate for rest of the world.

The product is sold in both 110 packs and individually. Buying in packs of 110 gives you the GB discount.

The MoQ is currently 10372/8250 Switches

    • It is $1 an individual switch, or $69.99 for 110!
    • The switches will be getting a new mould to ensure lack of scratchiness
    • The switches will be lubricated in factory
    • By default it is plate mounted however if you send me a PM along with your order number/email I can get you a pcb mount version.
    • 67g Springs will be in the switches
    • They use an MX compatible linear stems
    • The switches will fit in any MX Designed board, there are no significant differences to the housing other than the colour
    [li]SMD LED compatible
    [/li][/list]

    Hey Everyone,

The main post now has a Shipping Status page so you know whats going on. I will update it daily.

I have also ended the groupbuy and temporarily stopped orders. This will stay like this until ALL orders have shipped. I will then reopen the store for anyone who missed out.  :thumb:

Thank you very much for waiting for shipping. Its not ideal for me either but we recieved way more orders than we originally planned for. (We though like 80 at best... we were so wrong).

    Best Regards,
    Jack

Hey zisb, are you sending the Canadian orders to a proxy or are you sending them direct? I was talking to Mech27 and assumed he was proxying them since it's a collaboration between the two of you but the doesn't seem to be doing it. Can you confirm how the Canadian orders are being sent out?

I've been messing with them for a bit today trying to figure out if I want to attempt to solder these banana posts into a used board or not. The more I play with these next to cherry black, cherry vintage black, and gateron black... I'm really really digging them. Lots of things to be happy about:

    A couple of my observations:
    1. Those legs/posts are big
    2. The housing is tight and has no wobble between top and bottom OR in the switch plate. These are perfect.
    3. Theres not a lot of lube in them and whats in there hasnt spread around yet. I messed around with spreading it out with my lube paintbrush and it seems better - could just be my brain though.
    4. They sound a lot like my vintage blacks... and a slightly lighter spring to my touch.
    5. I think the spring needs oil.
    6. I think the back of the stem slider needs a swipe of lube.
    7. These are pretty awesome.

    Some pics for fun:

The back needs lube too maybe?

Lube hasnt spread out yet... check out those linear prongs though... sweet round design:

Hey, zisb. Tried sending you a pm, but not sure if it went through. Can you check on order #57? It should have been paid as of October 30, 2016, but still shows status as processing. A little anxious now that I see people in the US are starting to receive orders. Thanks.

Not sure if I got unlubed Pandas, but in the very beginning, they're much scratchier than vintage blacks or Gaterons.  After a day of pressing switches, they've gotten smoother.  I have 10 smoother Pandas after 2 days of owning them.

This is how I rate unlubed linear in terms of smoothness:
    • Gaterons in Zealio housings (wobbles) = Pandas in Zealio housings
    • Vintage Blacks in Zealio housings (wobbles a little less) = Stock Vintage Blacks
    • Stock Gateron Yellows in black bottoms
    • Worn in Pandas = Gateron in Panda housings
    • Dyed Gateron Clears in stock Gateron housings
    • Fresh Pandas = Vintage Black in Panda housings
    • Pandas in Gateron housings (Really bad IMO)
    • Cherry MX Reds

IMO doesn't live up the stock lubed switch that's better than stock Gaterons.  There is also a weird sensation when bottom out, like a small bump at the bottom of the switch, and on the upstroke.  Maybe mold defects or lack of lube coverage?
I need to pick some Krytox 104 lube and report back.

On another note, Zealios in Panda housings are really tactile!

Thank you for putting this together! So worn in Pandas are pretty similar to stock Gateron yellows. For the worn in Pandas, did you just kind of use them occasionally over the course of a week?

Also, were you able to confirm whether your Pandas were lubed or not? And are they as stable as Cherry in your opinion? Stability is really more important to me than smoothness. I'd be interested in how Pandas in Cherry housings feel (with lube).

So it looks like the best of both worlds is to buy Zealios and Pandas, then stem swap between the two for super smooth linear switches and super tactile switches?

Never thought about it until now, but that seems to be the case haha.  If you want a stable linear switch, I'd just lube Pandas or just do Cherry MX.

I'm actually really glad to hear someone else say this - I too felt like they were scratchy and there was a bit of sticking on the upstroke. I thought I was going to get the pitchforks and torches on /r/mk for saying they needed lube for those exact same reasons when these were toted as being slick pom and lubed for good measure anyway. What i found was that when i opened it up, the slider was dry and the lube was still blobbed in the post and hadn't spread out yet. And so after i spread it all around (I also put a bit on the back where i pointed out in the photo above) it got smoother i think.

I think i'll swap these into my Ducky for work and put some hours on them.  :thumb:

Did spreading out the lube get rid of the sticking on the upstroke?

Yes, it seems to have freed up whatever was sticking. :thumb: I'm fairly certain this is a 'break-in' issue and you're just going to have to use them to spread  around the grease that was used. There isnt much in there to be honest, and its rather sticky compared to what I prefer for my switches... but again, you're getting a fantastic linear switch thats been 'tuned' pretty damn well for essentially "mass produced custom" in my humble opinion.

Quite a few of us are it seems. I think "majority shipped" might merely mean 50.1% given the number of US folks that haven't received their orders. I had two orders from Nov. 5 (110) and Nov. 9 (20) for a total of 130 switches; I've received PayPal confirmation emails but no other confirmations. I've got two boards ready to build once these come in...gettin' anxious.

    Hi everyone,

A while ago, Zisb mentioned that he is currently in the middle of a family thing and is currently "unavailable" for the time being. I'm sure he'll be back soon, or else ;) haha.

Would love to hear some reviews of these.
I typed this post on my Slanck. I also developed a stronger, cleaner, easier handwiring method.

So less scratchy than cherry blacks and with less wobble?  ****... give me some lube and sign me up
Edit: did you try to lube them yourself?  Seems to me that the factory lube sounded good in theory but just can't be as nice as a good personal lube.

It looks like the cylindrical switch legs are actually some sort of holtite. Pretty nice!

Custom mkb switches + massive niche board game = best photo.
