As your title points out, but the seller gets wrong, it's 1987, not 1984.  Still a nice early-model board with two-piece caps and two-colour labelling on the number keys.

[LOL] Yes, you see many listings for "1984" Model M's, as sellers confuse the label's copyright date with the board's make date.

BTW, the seller's now added OBO, which I assume means this board could now be had for $45 shipped... What's everybody waiting for? Worried about scraping off a few Word Perfect stickers?  :?O

"Too many" has no meaning when discussing Model M keyboards.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Until you get into Model Fs
"The Trump campaign announced in a letter that Republican candidates and committees are now expected to pay “a minimum of 5% of all fundraising solicitations to Trump National Committee JFC” for using his “name, image, and likeness in fundraising solicitations.”
“Any split that is higher than 5%,” the letter states, “will be seen favorably by the RNC and President Trump's campaign and is routinely reported to the highest levels of leadership within both organizations.”"

I keep one of every different version. I sell off duplicates. I can see why having different models is fun, but multiple of the same model is not necessary for me.

Sold. Someone got a swell deal.

Me too. That's why I posted this—presumably for people who didn't already have enough M's. But hey, it's important for those of us with enough M's to commiserate over our need to be semi-mature and not buy more. It's a kind of group-therapy thing.

Spiritually, I agree. My wife has other ideas though. Apparently I must limit my Model M's if I want to keep my Model W.

Exactly. And yet, is there really a good reason to having examples of M's that are, for example, identical to a 1391401 except they have a different p/n? But hey—the p/n's different, isn't it? Woo, gotta have it then!  :?P

Having said that, none of you could possibly have a Lexmark-made Reply Model M (p/n 1395100), could you? And here's one for just $75 shipped.

It not only has an usual p/n—it has a unique OEM logo, with the further irony that it's a square (not rectangular) logo in the upper right (not left) corner, just like a first-gen IBM M. How often do you see something like that? And do you think I've used enough italics?
