[IC] 1776 DSA - Novelties added
« on: Mon, 03 July 2017, 12:07:51 »
Edit 3, 8/7/2017: Added novelty designs

Edit 2, 7/11/2017: Additional kits based on feedback and created a google form to capture interest.

Edit 1, 7/10/2017: Revised KLE-render. Added "Vintage 1976"  for the namesake and made a few adjustments to the alternate choices. Novelties next. Decided this should be produced in the states if it ever happens, and will be a DSA set.

Introducing 1776
A classic colorway for those who like subtle keysets.

KLE Mockup

Novelties

A subtle, double shot keyset with a bit of pop, likely DSA profile because 'Merica. Depending on how this IC goes, i'll start working on novelties and kits. SP color codes are currently for reference only.

While obviously inspired by the year the US of A gained independence, the name 1776 isn't meant to scream 'Murica, but was simply too good of a play on the 1976 keyset to not use.

All feedback and questions welcome! Imgur Album

Based on comments in the now XDA Melon, you'd probably want to go with XDA.

I like the colour scheme! XDA would be my preferred profile for that.

Looks great. Would also like to see these in a XDA profile.

That's actually a really pretty nice looking colorway. Nice job. Unfortunately, I absolutely cannot stand anything patriotic themed, even if it's done very well, as is the case here. I hate patriotism.

Nonetheless goodluck. Should've gone with a different name and I wouldn't have noticed the American theme!

PancakeMSTR - worth keeping in mind. Not trying to alienate non-American's and American's who don't want their board to scream "murica." I just liked the play on the 1976 set.

Thanks for the feedback! Maybe i'll come up with a non-patriotic name, as that really isn't where the initial inspiration came from.

XDA, nicer profile. DSA, one million times better colors, and better legends (especially with abs double shot). Every XDA set I've seen so far (samples or finished product) is very underwhelming and their dye subbing is subpar.

I really dig the simple color design. And good job releasing it at just the right time!

INSTABUY in DSA. I'd pass in XDA for sure. I think this screams to be doubleshot and not dye subbed.

Needs to be dsa because having this set made in china just seems wrong.

The color scheme is really nice. Colorful but you still can look at it for a long time without getting tired.
And is always good to see profile other than cherry.. there are soooooo many gmk set going on.

NO NO NO NO NO

It is blasphemous to manufacture this colorway and set, named after the United States of America, using a Chinese company. It should be made by Signature Plastics!!!

Lol, you're right, but this isn't the American flag itself which holds much more meaning, so I don't think people mind that much. In any case, I'm not interested in the set. The colors are nice though.

I read the title, and was like oooh, finally an IC for something I won't wanna buy. Old timey colors and DSA sound lame... then I look..

Why do you all hate my bank account so much?

In other news, you could also totally make a ridiculous flag variant with red/white stripes and then similar blue/white in the top left corner to to the vintage 1976 version.

I would be amused enough to buy it lol.

I wasn't planning on buying any more DSA sets, but I'd be in on this for sure. Can you do a render of a planck with the left column or two in blue and then alternating red and white for the rest of the rows? I'd probably go with WRWR as if the bottom row of the planck is the red row that hits the bottom corner of the blue field.

Wanted to post some novelty ideas to see if this is worth salvaging. I still really love this colorway, but have been entirely too busy with real life to dedicate much time to it. If this starts to gain more traction, i'll pursue working with SP — or if another member would like to run this colorway, all i ask is for a free set or two. :)

Novelties:

I have to agree with some previous comments. Very nice colorway, but FAR too nationalistic. Maybe try designing the set with those colors in mind but a little less ... murica?

I'd love couple options for the "join or die" (which is a pretty bad ass slogan if you think about it) and the flag enter key, but all opinions aside, this is literally a key set based on Nationalism. It's not too nationalistic, it's exactly what is meant to be.

Can the Esc key be a rebel flag? That would really piss some folks off.

Maybe put Join // Die on separate keys. I worry that the font is far too thin to properly mold.
