« on: Sat, 24 February 2018, 10:31:19 »

Saw this on lifehack years ago

Have tried it a billion times,  the smaller piece never sticks, and eventually just falls off..

Are you kidding? I always do this, and have for decades.

Both bars need to be wet and somewhat softened when you stick them together, and need to dry and harden a minimum of 12 hours.
Cognitive distortions are patterns of thought, typically automatic and unconscious, that cause an inaccurate, negative view of situations, people, and/or events. These include things like jumping to conclusions; black-and-white thinking; negative mental filtering; overgeneralizing; mindreading (incorrectly believing we know what others are thinking, what their motives are); and emotional reasoning (believing that if we are feeling something, or if what we are thinking is associated with a strong emotion, it must be true).

Dis is nuts..  how come everyone else got this to work..

This is what happens,  I take the two pieces (when wet), put them together.  give it a good squeeze..

Then I leave it,  the next day, when I try to use it, it will stay together to some extent,  but inevitably, it comes back apart..

Depends on the soap. Certain soaps is ez, but I think stuff like Dove don't work

I've had no success with lever 2000, irish spring, or dove..

Those are the only ones i've bought ever, because they're the cheepest.

Dove works fine but non-flat surfaces are harder to meld together unless 1 of the pieces is thin enough and soft enough to spoon itself onto the other one.

Also oilier soaps work better than drier soaps like Dove.

I didn't even know this was a hack, been doing it for years. Definitely works.
Check my keyboard video reviews:

Same here.

Sometimes doesn't work, but then the shower drips occasionally which prevents the join from bonding properly.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada
