Laika TKL (Wood & Stainless Steel Custom Phantom Keyboard)
« on: Mon, 30 June 2014, 06:49:22 »
77678-0
I started planning this back in March. The plan was to build the case out of stainless steel and walnut.

77680-1
It would be a TKL with blue switches. My current keyboard, the Model M, was excellent, but quite large.

77682-2
This is the Laika TKL. I've named it after the space dog from the Soviet space program.

Wow, nice idea on the wood sandwich. I might do this in case I will build a JD40. Looking forward to the final result.

This is beautiful! I want a wood case in the worst way. My husband has some great woodworking skills and I've been after him to make me something similar to this. The wood sandwiched between the two plates is really nice and clean. Great project! Particularly impressive since you learned to solder while doing this.

It was also my first real woodworking project as well.

Really curious to see how it turned out! Also, what screws did you use? They look to me like thumb screws.....
