HHKB-MX
« on: Mon, 28 January 2013, 12:14:45 »
I got this one a while back and posted a short review of it but it was lost during that r00tw0rm episode so here it is again.  Black switches (my fave), Aikon controller, unique layout, recessed USB port, odd size spacebar, etc.   I forgot which spings it has so will have to check on that.

IIRC, it came from OTD (not sure how many were made).

3 layer Acrylic case

Controller

Recessed mini USB port

Bottom/underneath with feet attached

With LEDs on

Odd size spacebar

Next to a Leopold tkl (for size comparison)

Weighing in at 2.02 lbs so it's pretty light compares to other Korean customs

As you can see, I'm not much on words (but big on smilies  :))  ).  Please let me know if you have any question.  :)

Unique board.  Certainly not how I would design it if I were to create one, but it looks cool.

I have been looking for info on this for a long time, though I found the true HHMX (MX version of the HHKB) on OTD the other day... :P

Sometimes I think it's just a name they give to any custom keyboard in general (I've seen a few different variations of HHMX around).

Nice review and pics reaper. Any additional information with regards to its layout? Is there a 2nd fn layer? I'm assuming this is programmable? ;D

I really like the look of that. I would love to find an acrylic case for a ducky full-size.  Did you do the work yourself of have someone else do it?

I bought a cheap iron from my local radio shack and it worked fine. I would like to get a station but wouldn't use it enough to spend good money on one.

Cool, thanks!  I'll go check out some at a nearby RadioShack.

Haha, thanks for the offer and sherryton's also offered me the same thing...  I may just take him up on that lesson (since he's closer and all).

Its confusing, its referred to as the SHMX in some places and HHMX in others, but there is also the HHKB layout in MX called the HHMX. seems like either name overlap, or language barrier or something similar.

This has an extra key on top, right? I think it looks a little odd, but its probably the most unique looking keyboard I've seen. Good review!

I dislike and like the split function keys. Sure it looks cool, but I feel like I would get sick of it really quick.
