I think his point is the MOQ for add on is 100 while the moq for base is potentially 300.

Just make the actual moq of the addon the same as moq for base set, then overlay the tier pricing on top.

Those price tiers are very nice as we go down. I wonder where we may be at with Dolch now, expected to break 100?
Isn't the MOQ on the ANSI set 300 and the ISO addon is 100? Pretty sure the tiered prices were for the addon only.

Yes.

Could anyone enlighten me as to what we would do if the AddOn pack for a set somehow hits its MOQ of 100 but the base set doesn't reach 300? I wouldn't really want an add-on pack without the base set.

Use the dolch addons with non dolch keycaps?

I believe that TaiHao doesn't manufacture those.

That's not this GB (we already had the IC for this GB)....and I don't think Tai Hao make them. Signature plastics do though...

Not sure if SP are still selling them on PMK. Relatively cheap compared to other dsa sets

Well, they are all the same (low profile) across all rows, so there is no contour. Makes the keyboard seem very flat. Not to my taste at all.

i do not think you should compare OEM profile keycap with cherry profile keycap
The result is obvious

The fun part of taihao is that u can get some doubleshot in colour of dolch and olivette in that price  :)

btw
https://www.massdrop.com/buy/doubleshot-abs-keycaps

massdrop is doing taihao groupbuy too
3rd generation green on white

our price is around $7 cheaper, with a cherry capslock that they don't have
but they actually got 92 orders in one day...

Not obvious to someone like me who knows very little about the differences, which is why I'm asking.  I've only really ever used PBT caps so I don't how these would feel compared to them.

for colour-wise
they are pretty much the same but GMK has a thicker legend which i personally think is better than taihao

for feel-wise
the typing experience on cherry profile is definitely better
to me, the profile has made a big difference cuz i feel easier typing on cherry profile.
also, GMK keycaps are thicker and u feel solid typing on them

not to mention GMK uses better material and has better quality.
the finishing of GMK keycaps is much better than taihao

but on the other hand, GMK keycaps are at least 5-6 times more expensive than taihao

thats my feeling comparing the GMK Dolch set with the Taihao set i got

edit:
like,   GMK has a matte top surface and smooth side faces, while all the faces on taihao are matte
this actually shows the quality and finishing advantage of GMK's keycap

quality-wise, taihao is no match for GMK
GMK is actually in a different league, so comparing taihao with it is kind of awkward

3.) When will we move on to stage 2?

From the start of this GB, until 31th May,
as long as the order of the currently GB keycaps meets the MOQ,
we will move on to the next stage

For ANSI sets, if they are in stock, the MOQ is 100, otherwise its 300. (i will confirm with taihao about the MOQ, but 300 is the maximum MOQ we need)
So if we can move onto stage 2, we can easily get the next few colours' ANSI set

This is mainly affected by the Add-On Pack, as it has a fixed MOQ of 300 unlike the ANSI ones.
So hold on, the MOQ on the ANSI set is 100?  And MOQ for the Add-On Pack is 300?  I'm very confused now.

Octagon - 62g Cherry tactile greys
Phantom - 65g Cherry tactile greys

Conditionally

In stock : ANSI moq = 100, add-on MOQ = 300
Out of Stock : ANSI moq = 300, add-on MOQ = 300

but as MOQ of add-on pack is difficult to reach (should have less ppl needing this set), we tried to make it possible so we started a tiered price for them
this allow us to "lower" the MOQ 100, though there will be extra add-on packs left

edit:
Quote
so actually, the MOQ of both of the sets is 100 as long as the order of ANSI set is  >100 and < stock ( 100 < order < stock => MOQ = 100)
the ONLY situation we would fail is that
(100 < stock < ANSI set order < 300)

if our order exceeds the stock that taihao have, the MOQ will rise to 300
this will be too difficult to explain and also take time for you guys to understand,
I simply use the MOQ 300 here, cuz i think meeting 300 is not difficult.

OP is rather complicated. I have a few questions:

1)How much for a  Dolch set and shipping and stuff to Romania?
2)How do I join and when do I pay? I get my paycheck on the 22nd.

What do you mean?

Basically this stage consists of granite, olivette and dolch.

Stage 2 and 3 will start once the MOQ for this is reached I think, and they consist of other colours

I'm a little surprised that not alot of people bought more sets. I mean, when this is over, I'm pretty sure there's still gonna be a lot of people who would want this or missed out and those extra sets could be a second chance for them to get hold of them.

Or just more sets in general so that you know, at least it's much within reach when you need another of this set and you have to wait a long time for the gb to happen again.

Or do any of you think that this would go on taobao after it has been made?

"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Some people might bash me for saying this so I will disclaim that this is purely my personal subjective opinion, but I don't think the difference is that extreme. I went from stock QFR kepcaps and ducky shine stock abs keycaps to poker thick pbt and honestly its not a day and night experience. Sure the texture is a little more tactile on pbt and the sound is slightly lower pitched than abs but definitely does not make abs feel cheap.

The tai haos are double shots and some of their colors are quite thick in the previous generations (not gmk thick) and would definitely feel more substantial than stock abs.

Shine however is a separate matter from feel, depending on your body composition and how oily your hands are, abs will develop shine with use and this is generally not perceived to be desirable.

Personally I have never had a problem with shiny keys, I never eat while using my keyboards.

Personally, I'm just after thick keycaps so i can use backlighting without bleeding through the keys for a nice underglow effect. Alot of the ABS keys I see tend to let alot of light through, even some of the thicker ones. I am using some ABS from SP right now and they seem to be sufficiently thick to block out enough light so no problems there.

I guess PBT is without it's flaws too. They are quite brittle.

I don't feel that there's anything wrong with ABS. They shine really fast but if properly made, they can be really good.

Maybe tthe messaging needs to be blunter.

If you want the earlier-generation colours, they're being HELD HOSTAGE until the fourth-gen sets hit MOQ.  The only way to release them is to buy more fourth-gen sets or harass your friends, neighbours, etc. into doing so.

Everyone who's been holding out:  How badly do you want the Azure set?  Buy an Olivette  or Granite set to show your commitment.

To be honest I didn't know that people actually saw it that way. I thought most if not all knew how it worked but I guess putting it across that way works as well

I don't want to open pandora's box but just putting an idea out there.

What if, in the worse case scenario, we don't meet moq for any of the base sets? Would you close off the less popular options and leave the most popular, which looks like dolch for the time being. Would you let people change their orders so we get at least one set to moq?

I ordered one of each set and would love to have all three reach moq. But if closer to the closing date and one of the sets clearly isn't going to make it, I wouldn't mind changing my order to help another set reach moq/next pricing tier.

when that deadline comes and MOQ have not yet met, i would either extend the deadline or ask if any body would like to revise their order to help us meeting the MOQ

I signed up for a Dolch and a Granite. Just as an FYI, the order form still shows a unit price of $14, although I gather the corrected new price is $15.
