Hello from Canada!
« on: Fri, 09 October 2015, 20:34:07 »
Hello geekhack!

New member here. I decided to join because I have a Filco mx red keyboard that my brother got me, and enjoy it a lot.

I am very excited to try out vintage mx blacks. This is a very fun hobby.

Welcome to Geekhack! We've got a few Canadians here. We keep them around to make us U.S. folks feel better about our keyboard prices.

Welcome to Geekhack!

If you like reds, what is prompting you to try blacks (vintage or otherwise)?

And why vintage blacks in particular?
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Hello from New Brunswick.

Currently typing on a Filco with browns. Can't wait to try out all the different switches I have in the mail.

Thanks for the welcomes!

I heard vintage blacks are smoother and feels very good.

My brother has custom springs he will give me to build with, from 55g to 135g. :D

Some say they are smoother, some say they can't feel any difference ;)

135g superblacks!
