[IC] GMK Delta - Starting Nov 1st!
« on: Fri, 13 September 2019, 22:33:03 »
Hey everyone,

I'd like to reintroduce GMK Delta! This is a design by Emil.
It features WS2, CR, and the VBV Teal from Signature Plastics. This is the same teal used in Hyperfuse Origins, Hyperfuse Remix, and Tokyo Nights.

So unfortunately, Emil has been really busy recently, so I've essentially taken over running GMK Delta.
He is very grateful that the set will still run, and I still want to stay true to his vision. But the old thread was confusing, so I've tried to collect all the most up to date information here.

>> I would love to get your feedback and gauge interest in this form! <<

You can also come talk to me on my Discord
Or keep up with my Instagram

The kits are as follows:

Base Kit
The base kit includes an extra TAB key so you'll have a full set of extra mods to mix and match. These mods would pair really well with hyperfuse origins, tokyo nights, hyperfuse remix, etc. along with WoB/BoW sets.
The base kit includes 4 unconventional 1U keys: R2 "Out", R3 "Data", R4 "Shift", and R4 "Enter". This means with a single base kit, you will have support for building out an ortho keyboard with a 2U spacebar. If you want a sculpted spacebar for ortho, you can get the spacebar kit.
This kit will be $134.99 on CannonKeys

Space - Spacebar kit
This kit will be $27.99 on CannonKeys

Deskmat
This mat will be $16.99 on CannonKeys

And here are some renders:

Chimera65

Savage65

CA66

This set will run on the following vendors, starting November 1st:
US - CannonKeys
CA - deskhero.ca
EU - MyKeyboard.eu
AUS/Oceania - DailyClack
Asia - iLumKB

Much thanks to Emil, UB, Adil, Rensuya, and all others who have shown support.

Oh hell yeah. I am so in on this. I hope it doesn't switch to icon mod my heart couldn't handle another set doing it.

Is there possibility for a 40s kit?

I'm pretty set on keeping Icon + Text. It's what Emil wanted and I like it too.

Probably no 40s kit given KAT Eternal is also planned to run in November on CannonKeys.

been seeing a lot of white alpha, colored mods sets coming out and can't help but suggest some of these sets consider making just a mod kit for existing colorways such as pristine, BoW, monochrome, metaverse, stormtrooper, or any of the other white alpha sets.  Don't see that around too much anymore but can really add to a set while keeping cost down.

From my perspective, that makes the set inaccessible to those who don't own Minimal, Pristine, Bow, Monochrome, metaverse, stormtrooper, or any of the other white alpha sets.
Personally, I don't own any white WS2 sets, and there aren't any readily available. It would be one thing if these sets were always in stock and ready to buy, but we are not at that point yet.

Also, you wouldn't be able to use any of the aforementioned sets as designed if you took the alphas away.

I don't think a mod only kit would be as successful as you might think, but I would love to be proven wrong.

Ya got a clean set on your hands Upas and even though Emil's a lil too busy, it's great seeing this moving forward!

Just a few questions por favor:
1. Is keeping the 2u shift detrimental to the set?
2. Is keeping the additional 2.25u shift detrimental to the set?
3. Just noticed you include an additional tab, so I see where you're going with all the shifts providing an "extra" set of mods for mixing and matching with sets with CR... so never mind #1 and #2.
4. Will a CR ISO enter be added?

Will gladly get myself a set if there are option with mod colored alphas.

A little bit tired from 2019’s high contract trend already :)

I agree with some previous post - mod color alphas would look super clean. Monochrome all the way. I myself was thinking about doing a set with just black and teal. Please consider doing monochrome. I’m tired of seeing white alpha kits.

So to address this - Tokyo Nights has VBV on CR colored alphas. You could pair GMK Delta with Tokyo Nights to achieve the uniform alpha/mods look. I don't plan on changing the alphas in this kit.

Ya got a clean set on your hands Upas and even though Emil's a lil too busy, it's great seeing this moving forward!

Thanks for the feedback! The extra tab in base is definitely for the reason you stated in #3.
There are a couple keys we have in base - 2 escape novelties (1 new mold), and the tab. These aren't in traditional base kits, so I decided to cut the CR ISO enter key to stay cost competitive.
While this isn't ideal, the set will still offer ISO support.

One idea I am playing with is moving the VBV ISO into the spacebar kit and adding CR ISO to base. It'll depend on price.

Still the same vendors or will there be any changes regarding it?

Planning on working with the same vendors! I just want to double check and confirm.

The lil cannon icon on that kb is lit

Thanks!  :D I'm glad you like it!

Hey everyone - a quick update.

After some consideration, I've decided to add the mod colored ISO and R3/R4 PgUp PgDn to the base kit.
Hopefully this does not make the price increase too much - if the quote comes in and its too high, we may have to drop a few of those keys.

Yeah it might be good to get a quote without numpad in the Base kit

I do not plan on splitting out the numpad.

Breaking down a set introduces risk to other child kits from reaching MOQ and increases the overall cost (if you intend to buy all kits).

Removing numpad saves you $10 maybe.

Buying numpad not in base kit will set you back like $40.

There's no standard for what keys go in R2 and R3. They change based on people's preferences. "Out" and "data" can do whatever you want them to do. They're generic.

Two new updates.

After talking to GMK I've decided to move the 4 Ortho Keys to the base kit. None of the keys in the space kit were doubleshot, so adding those 4 keys to the space kit would have added considerable cost.

This base kit has a lot of compatibility now - you can build out a full ortho board with it - but I'm confident we can keep the price down and reasonable!

New kits:

Note: this render doesn't show the extra TAB key, but it will be included.

Also, much thanks to Janglad for these beautiful new renders on the TGR Jane and Chimera65:

It's unlikely - Tokyo Nights has the VBV on CR alphas, so they are available in a sense.

Pricing for CannonKeys is released!

Base - $134.99 - this is more than the usual $130 due to a new mold for the novelty key, the inclusion of the ortho keys, and the extra tab and R3/R4 PgUp/PgDn keys. I think it's a great price for the compatibility included!

Spacebar - $27.99
