Today I am proud to present to you my first set, MW Gelato!
It is inspired by the cool refreshing taste of gelato on a hot summer's day.

There's no black anywhere else in the set, so I'm concerned that it would look out of place. I was going to suggest using brown instead, but that might not look the best with the alt alphas or other sets. I feel like a lot of MW sets have been using reverse dye sub designs. Does anyone do reverse dye sub well?

Also, that's a really nice light blue; I'd like to see it in more of the set, but acknowledge that may not be possible or thematic.

After doing some test renders I personally feel that having black mod legends would feel very out of place as there is no other black in the set.

why not make the mods text only? why does every set have to be exactly the same generic icon mods? is there a technical reason? does the manufacturer push you towards using the generic icon mods that all sets use? if not have you considered text mods?

Sorry I didnt realize it was brown not black. I think if you used that brown as the mod legends it would be nicer and provide more contrast, but ultimately its up to you.

Milkyway did not push me towards icon mods, I looked at using icon, icon+text, generic text mods and custom text mods but, I ended up choosing icon mods because I felt that they were the cleanest option.  I will definitely look into doing text mods for future sets if it fits the theme more!

As someone in their mid-30s, I can't actually even see the bright font on the mods, as there isn't enough contrast for my eyes to differentiate between the two.

While I understand the worry of brown font on brightly coloured mod keys, I don't think it would look as out of place as believed - I'm a huge fan of Novelkey's PBT Notion set, which worked around the potential issue by offering both accent AND plain-coloured keys but with a consistent font colour throughout the base kit.


For those who wanted Text & Icon modifiers, I'd be willing to forego buying novelties for an all-icon mod kit, especially if it included icon options for the nav cluster.

Sadly no manufacturer is currently nailing reverse dye-sublimation, and I think you'd have much less hesitancy from potential buyers if you were able to avoid it in the base kit.

Hey, I do definitely understand the concerns about reverse dye-sub and also the legibility of the mods and the alt alphas. I will be getting samples from Milkyway pre GB. Once I receive the samples I will make a decision on whether I need to use a black/dark blue for the mod legends.
