Looks like a remnant of Liberace's estate.  "Solemn and dignified"?  How about one with tiny mirror tiles on the keys?

I would prefer either one of these:

Actually the one on the bottom (cheaper) would be pretty kick ass.

^^^ Those are beautiful. Somewhere are Hires pics, I think on PFU's site. The Japan model has exceptional packaging.

It's interesting that the model # of these is PD-KB500 (the current HHKB is PD-KB400). Like it's the successor of the current model.

I wish these were still available. And not that expensive.

Quick search, here's the PFU page:

And the packaging:

Cool aluminum case.  But certainly not worth the money.  Might be a fun project to fabricate your own case though.

Cool, that really is the Frankenstein.  Maybe they could just make those conducting gold keycaps into touch switches.

Gold leaf, or lacquer is not going to stand up to use. So those are display items for collectors. The aluminum case one is nice however. And if someone wanted to commision one in 21k solid gold bullion, and sent it to me, I guess I would use it...

Urushi lacquer which is used for the HG Japan will definitely last.

That is just way to gaudy. I am reminded of the guidos in Brooklyn when I was growing up. All that gold hanging around their necks.....

I'm a Guido :(  I don't drive an IROC-Z, I button my shirt up, and don't have chest hair, either...
