Realforce RGB Custom Controller
« on: Tue, 05 June 2018, 20:03:34 »
Hello,

I currently own a realforce RGB and absolutely love it. I know others dislike it for good reasons but I really like mine.

However, my main issue with it is that it is not programmable which I would really like it to be.

Does anyone know how I might make a controller that would allow me to program it? I know these have been made for other more popular topre boards so it must be possible.

Any insight would be appreciated.

The controller on the RGB is soldered to the PCB unlike those other keyboards (HHKB, FC660C, FC980C) which use a separate daughter board for the controller.
Because of that you need to replace the entire PCB rather than just the daughter board.  The Novatouch has the same restriction.

You could try Hasu's excellent USB->USB converter which works great unless you have a hardware FN key which it can't intercept because no keycode is sent when pressed.  Otherwise you could try reverse engineering the firmware to modify the keymap.  http://vekkt0r.github.io/articles/novatouch-tkl-reverse-engineering-part-1/
