Ok. Gimme. This fixes my issues with vortex vibe.
Edit: Oh shoot, just read the possible left numpad config, definitely in for one when you can make that possible.
Also, is there anyway you can have standard backspace sizing with hotswap?

Added standard backspace and moved the USB port to accommodate this change and by doing so makes doing a left side numpad much easier.
That was amazingly fast! Thank you so much for not only replying but taking my question seriously. I am definitely 100% in. :thumb:
I'm excited to see the left handed numpad version. I'm in for sure.
Also, is there any consideration for black pcb/pcb case pieces?

This looks amazing! Great layout. Do you think you could switch from mini usb to usb c?

I would personally love to see a left side numpad. Otherwise great design!
so is it safe to call this a 4800 layout? :)) depending on the price i'll grab one, looks like a fun little board!

Its official. Left side numpad is happening. :-)

I'm a right handed person, but I've wanted a keyboard with the numpad on the left side too.
I don't like having to take my right hand off the mouse when I use it, in many circumstances.
Another keeb from the KeyCompany? Oh hell yes ill take a preminum version plz.
fake edit: and a standard for backup
This looks fantastic!
I'll struggle to cover that 1.25x Tab key with my current sets, but it makes perfect sense for this layout.
Any ideas on what colours will be offered for the alu case?

Can we see the layout for candybar with left-side numpad?
Excited for this! :thumb:
Updates?
Updates? This was from a week ago, so it should have an update soon.
I can wait,because I have no money
Cannot wait for this groupbuy!!! :)
This is great. I'm more excited for this than ever now!
I do have one n00b question though:
You can have a split spacebar options AND have hot swap sockets? Why did I think this wasn't possible? Do all the stabilizer placements work out? Don't get me wrong, I think this is great. I just thought this has caused trouble for other designs previously.
Slightly disappointed that the numpad enter isn't 2u anymore, but the hotswap split spacebar more than makes up for it! I'll buy a PCB kit and a premium kit!
Any chance to swap the ">" and "Rshift" keys to make it as a straight arrow cluster position?
Its just 0.25u to make it as a dream layout for me. So close

blindassassin111 figured it out!
Good day, I’ve been interested in the Candy Bar premium since your RMK post. I hope I can get both options (right & left) & at least the candy keyset. BTW, w/ the hot swap kailh (I love speed & pros) PCB, will it require PCB or plate mount switches (sorry, but I don’t know much about hot swap PCBs)? Upon, reviewing your website, I see this GB has been moved from October to December to now 2019, I hope everything is going well this candy set (MKBs & keysets). BTW, sorry for being off topic, but does the key company have plans to sell more tangerine switches in the future b/c I really some. Well, look forward to hearing from you and hope that all continues to go well for you.

Thanks for your quick response, I appreciate it. Well, time to stock up on some plate mount kailh speeds & pros! As far as the tangerines, My fingers are& hope Jason has good tangerine MX news for me.Good day, I’ve been interested in the Candy Bar premium since your RMK post. You can use either plate or pcb mount, both will work fine, just know that PCB mount will fit tighter and be a bit harder to hotswap, but that is the only real difference.
Everything is going fine, the issue was the first proto PCB had an issue due to a documentation error, and that snowballed and right now we are doing a 2nd proto to see if that whole issue is now resolved 100% like it should be. Wasn't the plan but can't control others documentation accuracy...
As for the tangerines, I will leave that to Jason to answer as he would be the only one that knows that.
Is tray mounting the only possible option to implement the plate? I would love to get this as a top mounted board. 😏
thank you for the clarificationIs tray mounting the only possible option to implement the plate? I would love to get this as a top mounted board. 😏
It is technically a "top-mount" board as the plate is what is held in place. We wanted a 1 piece case, so the mounts go through the PCB and screw into the plate, whereas "traditional" tray-mount screws the PCB down and lets the plate float.
New blog looking good :thumb:
Are there any pictures of the bottom of the aluminum case? Looks super fun, and very interested. Thank you!
Longboi, me very likey. I will definitely be taking one! Do you have an idea of how much space is between the PCB and the bottom of the case? The Candybar seems hefty for a smaller board, and I'm hoping that it's a snug fit inside to allow for a more deeper acoustic.

There is 4.9mm from the PCB to bottom and about 3.1mm below the hotswap socket.
Okay that's not too bad at all. Might put a foam insert in there or something and see what happens, but seems pretty snug.

Yeah I made it so the USB port was fairly close, but didn't make the inside hug the back of the PCB. It is 1.4Kg(3.08lb) as is.
Interested in the version with the numpad at the left. Also, please consider a low cost case, the sandwich version with PCB layers looks too cheap.
Edit: I just see your premium version published at other site. Hoping for a case with better pricing that fills the gap between cheap and premium version.
One final note: The split version may have the 2.25u at the left for better ergonomics.

Pretty much the only way they could make it any cheaper and put it in a case is to have a plastic one, and there's more that could go wrong with that, and would extend the production time, as the GB for this is set to launch quite soon. The price for the premium kit is a lot cheaper than other options out there, but if they're willing to share the 3D printing files perhaps you could print a case for the sandwich kit?
You could also look at Qlavier's mechchete, which is designed around the Candybar PCB; he might be able to help you find the sweet spot you're looking for with a fairly decent selection of acrylic colours. I have a commissioned board arriving from him soon, but he's fantastic with updates and will make sure you're satisfied.
This is nice and all, but it makes no sense for me because, as a vim user, I need numbers all the time. Plus I use ISO...It's a 40% with the bonus of a number pad which is great. I hear you with could've, would've, & should've; however, the number pad is standard w/ this board. Iso...let's not be negative. We hear you, just no need for that, if you don't want it & have nothing nice to say, it's better to not comment.
What's the point of shaving away 1row of keys... then you choose to have a big frame on the case, and you immediately have a bigger keyboard.
yeah.. I'm normally a massive advocate for ISO support, but to me ISO support on a 40% doesn't make much sense. This is nice and all, but it makes no sense for me because, as a vim user, I need numbers all the time. What sense do have using a board with less keys than those required that you need fn layers? For the record, I am a fifty percent user. But, I should recognize that using a sixty is easier and a TKL is even more comfortable.

Will there be an option without hotswap sockets?
Could this be an option?
1. Bluetooth support for extra money.
2. Make the right shift bigger and add the "?" to the left of the right shift.
3. Move the up arrow to the right of the right shift.
The above would make this board the board of my dreams, I'd definitely pay extra to have the above features.
